Kaze-no-Kataribe New Building Japanese Style Room

Amazing one-night Ryokan experience in early March”

We had a wonderful stay at a corner room here - the Onsen facilities are superb. The room is clean, calm and cosy, with a view of the garden lit up at night. The seven course dinner was amazing with local delicacies but it may not be to everyone's taste (e.g. westerners like my husband). The breakfast was also massive, I ended up skipping lunch the next day. The Ryokan also provides amenities such as FREE FLOW BEER, and drinks + snacks and ramen at certain times. Treat this stay like a spa and check in early and enjoy the amenities!

What a wonderful experience!!!”

We enjoyed every minute of our short one night stay at Kikuya in Izu back at the end of December 2023. The historical and traditional setting blended in nature with harmony. The long corridors and walkways took us back in time. Our room was very spacious for our family of 4 (with an adult child and a teenager). Dinner and breakfast were exceptional and simply delicious. We most enjoyed the private hot spring room and free milk/yogurt drink at the coffee/leisure room and hot snack (we had oden) and supper (ramen) after soaking in the onsen. Service was excellent and we felt at home and well taken care of. Location is very convenient, just a minute walk to Shuzenji where we spent our next morning exploring. Love it and will definitely return to Kikuya next time!

A Slice of Heaven”

We ended our tour of Japan here at the Kikuya Ryokan.. This is the most splendid place. We have stayed at during our trip. The hotel is truly Japanese style and the staff is wonderful. Our room sits right next to a flowing stream with beautiful sounds and birds chirping as the stream flows by. Our room also has a private outside bath with extremely hot water that makes a long day feel wonderful. The town that this hotel is located in is delightful with several interesting places to visit. We highly recommend a stay at this hotel.

The official configuration of the Gaiseki is disappointing, and the cleanliness of the Tangmada varies.”

I went with my parents. Overall, I was satisfied with the historical building, rooms, various baths, and friendly staff. Since it was the off-season, we were able to use almost all the baths as if we had rented the entire place, and most of the baths were clean, except for one family bath that was not in good condition (mold on the wooden tub and floating debris that made it impossible to take a bath). However, all the other baths were satisfactory. The variety of free snacks (milk, yogurt, ice cream, snacks, and late-night snacks) was also a pleasant experience. Even the cosmetics such as shampoo and lotion provided in each bath were really satisfying. The dinner buffet had plenty of food, but the consistency of the menu, which consisted of shrimp and fish tempura/grilled dishes and beef stew, was very heavy and consistent... It was difficult to finish even with a drink... ㅠㅠ The cost of alcohol was even higher, with beer costing 1500 yen per bottle. The location was also good. Shuzenji Temple, bamboo forest, and village public baths were nearby. Since the town was so small, we were able to see everything in about an hour. (There was a place marked as a nearby plum tree forest, but it was not recommended as the trees were dying and neglected.) All the staff were very friendly. There were staff members who spoke English and Korean, and they provided guidebooks in different languages, so there were no problems with using the facilities.

Family Trip”

The meals were luxurious and delicious, and the clean and spacious rooms were comfortable. There were many types of baths available, and the private baths could be used 24 hours a day without reservation. They also provided coffee and ice, and we were able to enjoy oden in the evening and late-night ramen! It was amazing! However, even on the first floor, there were many stairs and steps, and the long corridors were a bit difficult for my 75-year-old mother with bad legs.
