“Great location, good breakfast but check in horrible”
Acceptable 4 star hotel near the beach, lovely room with really comfy bed and pillows (but oddly all drawers on bedside tables, vanities and TV cabinet were just fake drawer fronts). Spotless when we arrived, the daily cleaning was very fast but very hit and miss - the toilet wasn't cleaned the first two days, bathroom mirror sink and splashbacks had a very quick and not very good wipe at least one day (didn't notice at first), quite sloppily two others, shower not at all at least two days (again, didn't notice at first). Bedding went 4 nights without being changed (a couple of pillowcases were changed though). Nice gym, lovely pool and seating area with a great view. Sauna and spa not working (we were told by an expat that most hotels in Vietnam didn't reopen their sauna and spa after Covid). Check in was a 2pm, fair enough we were almost an hour early, we sat and got a welcome drink and relaxed. We watched people go up to the check in desk being told to sit down the entire time we were there, including one family at 1:50 - only 10 minutes early - that were told that check in wasn't until 2pm. We were there long enough to see that nobody at all was allowed to check in before 2pm. It isn't posslible that not one single room was ready before that time and by letting people check in staggered it would have saved a scrum at 2pm. Very disappointing, this really made no sense. We had initially booked one night then extended it on Agoda by another 4 nights (same room, same rate). At first we were told that we would have to check out and 12 and check back in at 2. I pointed out that we were in the same room, it made no sense and was very inconvenient, to have to pack everything up and then unpack it all again. I'm surprised at how much time it took to convince them how silly it would be, but eventually we didn't have to. Less determined people would have either accepted it or got a bit shouty. Not sure if we would return, there are a lot of hotels around the same standard and price point in Nha Trang but apart from check in and hit and miss cleaning we enjoyed our stay.
