"In twelve years of living and traveling all over Asia I have stated at countless hotels and resorts. During this course I have never felt compelled to write a review for any of them. My recent stay at the Cham Villas Resort in Phan Thiet, Vietnam has bucked my trend. My wife and I went for a three night stay and were nothing but impressed starting from the welcome we received at the entrance, all the way until we regretfully had to leave. The entire resort consists of only 17 individual villas holding true to its classification as a Boutique Resort. With such a small number of villas, even if every unit is full, it never seems crowded. We highly recommend the beachfront villas as the beach is just steps away and the waves crashing at night is the perfect backdrop to a wonderful night’s sleep. Our villa was perfectly appointed with fresh flowers, mangos, & a wonderful terrace with full day bed, as well as air con and hot water that actually worked, very well! The grounds of the resort are also top-notch, whoever designed the grounds did a superb job of keeping each villa as secluded as possible from the next. The pool and the couples spa are tucked away such that you feel totally secluded form the rest of the world. The food was also superb, we did not even eat anywhere else! The kitchen is operated by a German national and he does a wonderful job with having international dishes as well as local fare. The beach bar did a wonderful job of keeping us supplied with wet towels to keep us cool all day. While we were on the beach, we just ordered small dish after small dish all day long and enjoyed each one better than the last. The tropical drink menu is as extensive as I have ever seen. This was without a doubt one of the best resorts I have ever experienced. If you are looking for a place to spend a nice relaxing holiday with your partner, look no further. My hat goes off to the management and staff of Chams Villas. "

"the villa del sol beach villas and spa is on a secluded beach area not far away from phan thiet. secluded means: there is no night life nearby, and only a few local restaurants (rather basic, but the food is good and at reasonable prices). the rooms are very comfortable, spacious and clean. it was perfect for us because we wanted to simply relax by the pool, go to the beach while the children picked up seashells and made sand castles. there is free wi-fi throughout the resort, so we could even upload photos on facebook from the swimming pool. staff were very friendly, although sometimes it took a little bit of patience to make ourselves understood, but we always managed in the end! they helped us book a taxi to visit the nearby sights (the towers, fairy stream, red sand dunes and fishing village) and a private car to return to the airport in ho chi minh city. breakfast was very good, with a good choice. the restaurant was also very good. we had read other reviews saying that the food was not good or overpriced, but the hotel must have changed chefs or paid attention to the reviews recently because we found it was very yummy and freshly cooked. yes, you do have to wait a little bit, but that's because everything is prepared from scratch and not pre-cooked or frozen. i would recommend the vietnamese dishes (particularly the fresh fried fish with fish sauce. now there's a tongue twister for you!). we had a lovely time and the children enjoyed it very much."

"Very good. A couple of minor niggles, ie if you're going to put a kettle and cups in the rooms why not provide tea and coffee and this was the only hotel we stayed in during a month's tour of Vietnam where no complementary drinking water was provided. However the quality of the room and hotel environment were excellent and we would certainly recommend this hotel to others."
