Wonderful and amazing culture”
Our stay in The Westin Miyako Kyoto Hotel was perfect. If you're not looking to stay in a Ryokan and would like to have a comfortable conventional western hotel to stay in Kyoto, i would highly recommend this one. Although it's a little pricey, the service is perfect and the comfort you get is definitely worth is especially if you spent the whole day walking and exploring Kyoto and in serious need for a comfortable room for a good night's rest. It is also not too far from Gion where you get to see the Geisha culture. The best thing is they have free shuttle buses to bring you to Gion and Kyoto station. Definitely will go back to this hotel.

Excellent Stay in a Japanese Style Room”
We had an excellent stay at the Westin Miyako. The hotel is in a great location for sightseeing, while it is a bit of a walk or drive to the downtown/Gion area. They provide a shuttle to this area as well as the Kyoto Station, which is very convenient. The Keage subway stop is literally out the front door so taking this is very easy. We stayed in a Japenese style room, and although the hotel is dated and in need of a renovation, everything was kept up very well and service was excellent. It took a day or so to get used to the Japanese style room, given that we are Americans, but after a day or so, we were so glad we booked it. It gave us more insight into the Japanese culture. They serve tea every day in the rooms, in traditional Japanese style, which we enjoyed every morning and night. This was a great option for wanting a Japanese style experience but with the hotel amenities such as the bars and restaurants. I would highly recommend the Japanese breakfast, by far the best meal there. We had breakfast in Aquablue once but I preferred the Japanese. There are some great restaurants within walking distance, one in particualar called Bamboo, which was one of our favorite meals. Note it is not on the hotel list they give out, but it is down the street. The hotel is very close to Philospher's Path and also Shoren-In/Chion-In, both some of our favorite locations in Kyoto. All in all, I would recommend this hotel for service, experience, and location. The hotel is defititely in need of a renovation, but the service and quality definitely makes up for that.

Great hotel with great services”
We stayed for 3 nights at Westin Miyako (first night at the Kasui-en room & 2 nights at the western style room). We just love both rooms! The kasui-en room is very nice, traditionally design with beautiful view from the balcony and also the garden. We slept on tatami & the mattras is good and so comfortable that my husband slept for over 12 hours. The surrounding area is so quiet and relaxing, the best to feel the real kyoto. We didnt go out through our balcony since it's winter and it was really cold outside, but I know the walking path outside must be really beautiful. The 2nd day we moved to the just renovated new western style room and the room is huge! It's not like most japanese hotel that has tiny bedroom. And we love the bathroom too, clean, neat and big with its shower, good for massage after your tiring day. The hotel also has shuttle bus from kyoto station & vice versa every 30 mins. The hotel is really close to the subway, only 1 min walk. And it also close to kiyomizu temple, we took taxi and it only take 10 minutes. The staffs were all very friendly & attentive and with good english speaking. We also tried the Japanese style buffet & western style buffet. Both are really good! We will surely come back to stay there again next year.

fantastic hotel & value”
The Westin Miyako was a fantastic hotel, and if you are traveling to Kyoto and can get a good deal on a room, definitely choose this one. It's located right by Kaege subway station, just a few stops from the city center, but far enough to avoid the noise. The room was nice, clean, and had abundant amenities, such as 6 (I think) different types of cups (sanitized & wrapped) for everything from coffee to wine. The staff was incredibly helpful and one of them spent a good 20-30 minutes trying to help me activate a SIM card for my phone (be careful about Docomo & b-mobile SIM cards - it was a nightmare to activate). We have zero complaints about this hotel, and although it includes nice restaurants (we didn't try) some travelers might prefer a less expensive option, especially for breakfast or lunch. Overall I would give this hotel 9.5 out of 10 stars.

Superb Hotel with heritage and 5-star service”
Westin Miyako is one of the oldest hotels in Kyoto and has very comprehensive facilities. The gardens in the hotel and bird watching trail are worth exploring. The staff are professional, polite and efficient in getting things done with as little fuss as possible. Despite it being slightly out of the way from Gion (30 min walk?) and the Kyoto central area, this problem is overcome by its half-hourly shuttle service,

An attractive, good-sized room for a fair price”
This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel, and came at the end of a 3 week tour of Japan during which we stayed in a total of eight hotels. The Westin Miyako was easily one of the best hotels we stayed in. It offers comfortable, attractive rooms - ours with a garden view - and it was a pleasure to return to it after a heavy day's sightseeing. We didn't eat in the restaurants - too expensive for us - but we did have a meal in our room one night, and it was both delicious and speedily delivered. All of the staff we encountered spoke at least some English, many of them fluently. Individual aircon control, too, unlike some other places where basically you have a choice (in May) between hot and not so hot. It's not exactly in the centre of town, but they have a shuttle bus that goes every half hour from the hotel to the central station, and the subway is 2 minutes up the road. Next time we're in Kyoto, we'll stay there again.

Gorgeous location and hotel”
I would highly recommend the Westin Miyako to anyone staying in Kyoto. It is centrally located to many of the shrines. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to many popular tourist spots in the area. The room was very comfortable and quiet and all of the staff was extremely attentive. The one complaint is the exorbitant prices of the restaurants. And you are not getting your money's worth!!! The Aquablue actually charges 1,900 yen for a soda. That is a $19.00 soda!! You don't even pay that at a luxury hotel in Manhattan!!!

Westin Kyoto”
We had a pleasant stay at Westin Miyako. A very well run hotel in a great location for sightseeing in Kyoto. Walking distance to many of the main attractions. Good size hotel room with views of the city. Very friendly and attentive staff. Restaurants and bars at the hotel seems a bit overpriced but with so many excellent restaurants in Kyoto, it doesn't matter - you don't want to eat at the hotel anyway.... Highly recommended, and I'd come back if I ever go to Kyoto again.

Amazing Service and View”
We arrived late at night to check in and the room we booked was already taken. In exchange, the reception upgraded us to the Family Room while apologizing profusely (which was totally unnecessary, who doesn't love an upgrade?). Our view was facing the beautiful Japanese gardens at the hotel grounds. The Westin Miyako was really the perfect place to kickstart a long day at Kyoto.

Beautiful Hotel”
My stay at the Miyako Kyoto Hotel was everything I hoped for and more. The hospitality and room were perfect. The location was the real reason everyone should come to the hotel. Walking distance to Keage station and easy walking to Ginkaku-ji temple. Lovely people and very friendly. Will go back when in Kyoto again.

Spacious and comfortable”
Had a wonderful stay with my husband and child last week in Westin Miyako. Very spacious room in Japanese standard, we tried both Japanese and Western style room and like both! Great service and friendly staff. Location is not bad and have shuttle bus connecting key tourist spots. My 2-year-old is particularly fond of their playroom which is well facilitated!

Family friendly and centrally located.”
I can thoroughly recommend the Westin Miyako Kyoto Hotel for anybody who wants to visit Kyoto. The hotel is centrally located, virtually steps away from the Kaege subway station, and in the perhaps most interesting part of Kyoto. We enjoyed the big room, the swimming pools and the shuttle bus.

A great hotel with hospitality in the cultural are”
We stayed here for total of 4 nights during Christmas time. And I must say the hotel is doing a great job despite its aged building. Higashiyama district in Kyoto where this lovely hotel sits is great to walk around if you love the traditional area such as Gion. 2 mins walk to the closest metro station so you can reach shopping district very easily as well. The hotel staff are all very well trained, polite and friendly. Seems like most of them speak English. For breakfast I would strongly recommend Japanese Breakfast over International buffet. We will come back here the next time we visit Kyoto.

Great base in Kyoto”
We had a super stay at the Westin in Kyoto. The shuttle bus from the station removed the hassle of getting to the hotel and the staff were organised, welcoming, efficient and helpful when we checked in. The concierge desk found us excellent restaurants to eat at on short notice and we are due a big thank you to Noriko and Chieko on that desk for great recommendations. Rooms were spacious and comfortable and many sights walkable though taxis were always readily on hand. We'd happily stay again.

Greeat service and location”
Had a wonderful staff here. It is in a convenient location for many of the walking trails and recommended site seeing attractions. This is a great base from which to site see Kyoto. I would definitely recommend it for future first-time travelers. Within close proximity to the popular Gion district and downtown. It's a beautiful hotel and the staff was amazing. The concierge helped us plan our tours and had recommendations for every question we had. Only downside is that the food and amenities are very expensive, but so is everything in Kyoto, so no big surprise. For travelers with young kids, this city is so spread out and it is difficult to walk to all the sites, even those close by. This hotel is in a great location, but still plan to use taxi's, bus, and subway.

Relaxing and comfortable”
Thanks to Agoda for such a fantastic deal. We got our rooms at about MYR400/night. We stayed for 2 nights. Although the hotel is slightly away from Kyoto station, the 30 min interval shuttle really is helpful enough for our travelling, also it is very near to Gion area. We were pleasantly surprised when 2 of our rooms was upgraded to a larger room, very large indeed for a couple :) We have two super king size bed in our room (kind of redundant though :p)! The view of the garden, mountain and Kyoto city was really good as we stayed on the highest floor. The staff were really attentive and took the time to really explain the facilities and was very polite. Me and my husband really enjoyed the stay, a memorable honeymoon indeed.

Wonderful stay”
We had a great stay at the Westin. The service was amazing, the property was clean and well managed and the regular shuttle service to Kyoto Station was appreciated. The Westin was our favorite place that we stayed during our 2 week stay in Japan, we will definitely return to the Westin when we next visit Japan.

The Best Hotel I've Stayed at”
I loved my stay at the Westin Miyako, and to be honest I missed it when I went to other hotels on the rest of my trip. It was just a very very nice hotel and I know I will be coming back.
