On arrival was upgraded for an additional £40.00 to a junior suite. When arrived in room it was nothing like the website photographs of the junior suite, was dark, small room Order room service and asked for a whiskey with ice, when the drink arrived asked where the ice was and was informed the ice had melted on the way up to the room The spa is very tired looking, majorly of lockers did not work, shower doors had no locks on and the sauna was not working The only good experience of over stay was the breakfast Very disappointed for a 4star hotel

Excellent hotel and location ”
This hotel was an excellent location and a bonus having a swimming pool, which my little boy loved. There was plenty of room and it was very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bar was great for food and again staff friendly and very helpful. Had a fantastic stay.

Very nice! ”
We really enjoyed our stay. We chose this to celebrate my birthday. We drove over but the building is literally next door to the York train station. The staff are polite and friendly. The hotel is beautiful and has a lot of character. We will definitely stay here again!

Situation right next to the station you’re a stones throw away from all the attractions of York. The hotel is grand, clean and full of charm. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with excellent showers. We can’t wait to stay again.

Disappointed ”
What a beautiful hotel, the decor and the grandness of it all. Booked as a special treat in the run up to Christmas because believe me I definitely needed a break. Was so looking forward to it. Room 317 was big and beautiful and warm. Little tuck box, no biscuits though? Plenty of space and a view of the station. Brilliant. But The shower was faulty and looked as if it was about to fall out of ceiling. But that was ok as long as they would come to fix it. This morning I opened the curtains to find a hole above the window and rain water coming into the room. Reported this and I was told this would be fixed, however 6.5 hrs later nothing done and shower wasn't fixed either. Talked to reception and someone came up from reception, followed by maintenance. Don't people understand when we book a hotel we come to relax and escape our work lives. We don't expect to have to deal with hotel faults. Eventually we had to move rooms,so we packed everything, carried it over ourselves, smaller room and above the bus stop which was a joy!!!! All the time the sound of buses. Then the keys wouldn't work on the doors so that was another trip down to reception. Bottle of wine for my troubles....very generous..not. £300 for 2 nights room only. What an absolute shame, spoilt things for me to be honest.

Would happily come back”
We loved our stay at this hotel and have already decided that we would come back to York to stay here again. Staff were friendly and professional, the hotel downstairs was stunning and the room itself was so luxurious. We got the king bed junior suite and we weren’t disappointed. We ordered room service and the food was lovely, and so was the included breakfast in the morning. Next time we plan to make the most of the leisure club with the pool and jacuzzi.

Had a most enjoyable stay, excellent breakfast and most helpful staff. No hesitation in using this hotel again. My only criticism would be the lack of coat hangers for a double room.

Birthday Stay”
I stayed here for my partners birthday, it is a stunning hotel. Upon arrival there was a Happy Birthday note and a box of chocolates which we greatly appreciated. Later on while my partner was taking a bath, I explained that it’s his birthday and his favourite cocktail is a passion fruit martini, room service brought some up to surprise him for when he got out - they were lovely! The next night we were greeted into the restaurant with a complimentary glass of Prosecco each and discounted drinks all night. The effort and attention to detail from the staff was exceptional and made our stay perfect. I would love to return.

Lovely well appointed Hotel”
The hotel has had a lovely renovation. Take care not to book a cosy double though as no storage space and cosy is an understatement. This time we booked a Junior Suite which was much better. Staff still mixing up rooms, luggage taken to rooms and in left luggage similar to last visit so not sure what is causing that issue.

Overnight Stay”
At £215 for one night I was quite disappointed that the room (322) was extremely small. Practically the size of the double bed with walking space all round. There were no drawers to store clothes and a tiny hanging space for a couple of hangers. The decor was a bit drab and the room overall did not lend itself to holiday relaxation. The shower room was well decorated and clean. The hotel itself was beautiful with fabulous architectural detail and the decor in public areas was impressive and clean.

Amazing location ”
Right next to the station but still quiet. This is a beautiful grand hotel, offering quality at every corner. I stayed for 3 nights with my best friend in a twin room and it was very comfortable. We found the bar quite expensive but there are plenty of other places for a G&T!

Overrated ”
Staff on reception were very rude. Ordered room service that never turned up. Two beds just pushed together. Stain on bedsheets. We stayed on the far side of the hotel and it’s smelt like sewer. Really disappointed as was super excited to stay here. Not worth the cost at all

Beautiful hotel”
I bought this for my father and his partner to stay as a birthday present and they loved every inch of the hotel. I went to visit and was blown away by how beautiful the building was, inside and out. The room was huge, well furnished and surprisingly well insulated against the noise from the neighbouring train station. My father was very impressed and on my brief visit to see him, so was I. I would definitely like to stay here myself one day.
