Great location; walking distance to a lot of most popular tourists attractions; very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet and very clean. Occasionally, some guests may make a mess (bad!) but staff will clean up as soon as they can. Very systematic and organized operations. Very reasonable price. I stayed there for 14 nights. I would recommend it to other travellers especially solo travellers.

Best location, beds, and service ”
It is located near Shijo station, only 7-10 walking distance. From the hotel, it is so convenient to travel to other attractions. We love how comfy the beds, comforters, bedsheet and pillows are. The room we had is step twin room. You can have your own personal safe easily. We would only wish the space down below the bed were bigger enough to fit in our luggage. It is limited to smaller size luggage so please note it when put into consideration. Other than that, the restrooms, staff, service and overall hygiene are phenomenal. We had great stays here.

very close to nishiki, and next to hankyu railways. easy to get to gion as well overall room very clean very new. small space but that's okay given the nice room. lobby is also very nice to rest in. shower and toilet very very clean. room size doesnt matter when the entire living condition is great. A lot of locals stay here so you know it can't be too far. they also provide recommendations for food nearby in the lobby - very good reccomendations

No Frills “Adult Hostel” in Central Kyoto”
This is my first time staying at a Japanese style “adult hostel,” and I truly enjoyed the experience. The room is teeny indeed, but beyond that the facilities are immaculately clean, stable WiFi for online meetings, and it’s really the location location location that I loved! The hotel is tucked away in a quite side street but steps away from the main shopping drag, and Nishiki Market. Highly recommended for solo travelers who want to save some money yet want to be in the middle of it all!

Perfect hotel for solo traveller. Its located in a strategic location and all basic necessitites are provided, the shared toilet and bathroom are quite clean as well. definitely way better than capsule hotel experience and not expensive.

Best pocket/capsule hotel”
Its cozy and you get to have a private room all to yourself. Nearby is downtown with lots of shops and convenience stores. Close to public transportations as well. Bathroom and toilets are clean. Laundromat you can see if its occupied or not with your room tablet. Staffs were helpful to store my bags and I extended my stay there because I love the stay. I would really choose this hotel again if I come to Kyoto.

Clean, quiet, excellent location, good breakfast at Douter cafe, storage of luggage before and after check in/ out on the day. Good value for money. 24 hours reception although check in / out via machine - just type your name on machine or scan passport. Easy.

Stayed 6 nights twin ròom, one person. Location is very good. Facilities are clean. Breakfast is at the Douter cafe, next to Starbuck, just a few steps away from hotel. Quiet rooms. 24 hours reception. Can check in / out via machine. Water in hotel is purified.

Location is the best!! Easy access to subway. Short walking distance to the imperal palace, Nishiki market and shopping street. Also lots of good restaurants nearby and Starbucks coffee is just a few step right outside.

Quiet & convenient”
POCKET is located near main road and entrance/exit to Subway. Hostel is very clean and you can enjoy the comfy and quietness yet in the busy shopping street. Will come again.

Exceptional”
Great accommodation, very clean. Although it's a shared bathroom, there are extra rooms available. The security system is very good, everything requires a key card to access, including the elevator and bathrooms. They also offer luggage storage before check-in. The room size is small, typical of Japanese hotels, with just enough space to open a 24-inch suitcase. Two suitcases and the room is full. The location is excellent, close to shopping areas, Ginza district, and the Kamo River. Everything is within walking distance.

Exceptional”
I had an excellent couple of nights at The Pocket Hotel. Location is excellent (although a bit of a walk from Kyoto Station), rooms and facilities are pristine clean, and the privacy and soundproofing is very nice. I stayed in a number of other hostels in Japan on my trip (for a comparable price) and this was by far my favourite. If you’re looking for a good night’s sleep I’m the heart of Kyoto without paying an arm and a leg, definitely consider this place.

We had a nice time in our stay. Check in was fast. Counter staff can communicate in English, organized, courteous and accomodating. The restrooms were clean - all the time. What's good here is that you don't line up or wait for the shower because they provided a tablet where it shows which shower room is vacant. Their rules are very clear. It has a nice and cozy lounge where you can watch tv, read books and sometimes get to know other guests. In my case, I got to know Weng and her friend from England. Location is very good too. Its a walking distance to Gion and other branded stores and near to station. I will love to come back to Kyoto and stay at The Pocket Hotel again. 💗😊

Perfect for a solo traveller (without too much luggage)”
It's perfect in almost every aspect fo a solo woman traveller, as it's very centrally located, clean, safe, quiet, and efficient. The facilities were all functional and it's handy enough to have access to hot water on the ground floor should one want to make a cup of tea/coffee in the morning. Yet if one's into shopping or travels with a lot of luggage, one would be slightly frustrated by the lack of space in the room. But to be fair, with its very competitive price and amazingly convenient location in central Kyoto (Shijo/Sanjo/Kawaramachi), I would not complain about its space. There are quite a few useable seating corners on the ground floor and many are equipped with sockets/USB charging points, useful if one wants to sit down somewhere to read/write/hang out with friends, too. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place and might use it again for my next visit.

The room feels like a pocket indeed - only slightly bigger than the mattress, but I can pack my medium size suitcase inside the room fine. Located right in the heart of Kyoto, a safe choice especially for solo female travelers. A single room with locks and privacy, at the price of capsule hotels.
