Perfect location - good hotel”

Helpful staff. Garage located on ground floor - very easy. Clean rooms.

we were looking for a well located and reasonably priced hotel in the centre of brighton for a concert at the brighton centre. the old ship delivered on all fronts and we had a great experience. i would therefore highly recommend this hotel to any traveller and the fact that it has a car park within is especially useful.

well presented hotel”

the space and decor

Lovely hotel, liked all the different sitting areas on the ground floor. Great bar, great location. Nice bedrooms, very comfortable but far too hot! I had to turn the radiator off straight away and even with the window open it was still far too hot overnight, shame there was no air con to adjust. Unfortunatley due to the great location comes the noise of the "drunks" coming home alnight, so the window had to be shut! Obviously noise is not the fault of the hotel. Nice breakfast with buffet, this is the way forward. One of the best hotels I have stayed in, in Brighton and good value for money.

Centrally located famous old hotel”

Location, large rooms, friendly staff

We stayed at The Old Ship on Brighton seafront for 3 nights. I was rather apprehensive as I had stayed there many years before and it was quite run down. But I was pleasantly surprised as the hotel has been semi-refurbished in a sympathetic way that does not obscure the "heritage" of the place. The windows are now double glazed and the rooms are therefore warm although the double glazing does not help much with the noise from the outside traffic and weekend revellers. We did not use the restaurant as the hotel is close to many other dining options. Car parking in central Brighton is a nightmare as there is no on-street parking anywhere nearby and the hotel car park pricing matches that of the adjacent multi-story Lanes car park- both of which are set at London rates. But overall a pleasant stay.

Shipshape”

Seafront location - historic building - very clean and nicely furnished and comfortable in a tasteful slightly dated way

The Old Ship is central on the seafront at Brighton. The location could not be better. Car parking is available but quite expensive. The hotel is very comfortable though the old building is not particularly well laid out as you might expect. Breakfast had an extensive choice but was otherwise a little average in terms of freshness, quality, and the like. Hotel demanded a credit card number despite having paid for the room upfront. Hardly welcoming. Could do a better with a little thought and effort.

Great hotel in a great location”

Bathroom, T.V., Location
Small room

i wasn't expecting much for the price i paid, so i was pleasantly surprised with this charming and unassuming beachfront hotel. the old ship lives up to it's name as the whole room creaked and squeaked with every step, just like you would imagine an old wooden sailing ship would. although a very old hotel it has a sense of old and new mixed together. modern appliances and furniture and the television was a large lcd display and with lots of channels and good reception. the bathroom was spacious and clean and the towel rack was heated, which made the experience even better for the our winter stay. i would highly recommend this hotel to anyone after a great hotel on a budget.
