If you book the hotel, book the dinner option. Costed just a little bit more. One of the best dinner that I have eaten in Japan. Luxury and tasty. Like 10 courses. Breakfast was great with Japanese and Western food, coffee, tea, and juice. Very romantic, and very kids friendly hotel at the same time. Best location to view the lake. We rented a bike to go around. Shuttle to train station available: We did not try public bath. I am sure it was good. One of the best stay with food accommodation for me in Japan.

We only stayed for a night but it was a gd experience. Right fr the pick up fr the main stnt, the driver was very friendly. There was once along the way back to the hotel, I believed he recognised 2 travellers who stayed at the hotel walking back and he actually stopped along he road to pick them up, which I thought was a nice gesture. The room wasn’t too big but comfy enough for us. We only booked a room with breakfast and last minute decided to book the dinner as well. As we were afraid the portions will be too big for 2 adults and 3 young kids (9,7 and 2), we asked for advice and the recep recommended ordering only 3 sets. When we reached the restaurant, the food was there at the table ready for us with my name ( i was the one who booked the hotel). When we sat down, they started teaching us how to eat, what sauce to go with which food, the servers were very nice. And when we were having dinner, they actually prepared the futons for us in our room. Hotel was just across the lake, the first day was cloudy and misty but the next morning before we left, the clouds cleared and we could see mt Fuji clearly. It’s clearly stated also on a piece of paper which they passed to us that there will not be any English speaking staff at night till the next morning. Before we left while waiting for the shuttle, we wanted to cross over to the lake to take some photos and the staff actually went with us to make sure the roads were cleared before we crossed and helped us take photos as well. I didn’t managed to go to the onsen as I had to look aft my youngest child but my hub brght my 2 older boys there and they enjoyed it very much. Overall it was a short but very pleasant stay here.

Our experience at this hotel was one of the best in Japan. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were extremely friendly and polite. The hotel was absolutely beautiful, with a luxurious area for relaxing with a bar, free coffee etc and leather lounges to sink into to read the incredible range of beautiful books on offer and listen to the lovely piped music. Also an amazing onsen looking out on Mt Fuji and the lake and a viewing deck on the upper floors to also look out on the view. Add free pushbikes to use to ride around the lake and an amazing 5 star breakfast. I only wish we had included dinner because there isn't many options to dine otherwise in the area - everything seems to shut very early. Excellent experience.

First of all, this is a veggies friendly hotel, you can book your included traditional Japanese breakfast for vegetarian, ( I think they can do vegan as well, but not sure, would be better to check with the hotel) staffs in the hotel is friendly as well!! The value of money is just 5 stars, the location is amazing, you can run for 5k to an amazing location to get a full fuji mountain view, and of course a perfect view just from your window, but the left side would be cover a bit, depends on your choice, I mean it’s a good experience to run under the Fuji mountain, and it’s not that far. You can walk for 10 minutes for the cable car station and 15 minutes for Lowson, (a convenient shop like 7-11 and Family Mart) you can get all kinds of food and drinks easily. The location is good actually, not really that bad as some reviews say. Another thing is, the hot spring is amazing! you can see mountain Fuji straight away, and they have indoor and outdoor versions, which I think as the money I paid it’s really worth it. The heater is really warm, no noise as my room is just by the street and I didn’t hear anything during two nights stay. Another thing is, my friend she is a smoker, who said she didn’t smell anything in the room, while I’m quite sensitive and don’t smoke, I didn’t really smell anything as well. All in all 5 stars for everything!

Helpful staffs who will assist with your luggages. *Personal note: No doubt you might read comments that the place is "old" , " tourist trap" , etc. But please keep in mind that this is a rural district operated by locals. You won't find a better hotel in the area. Sure there're even better hotels with better views and better facilities but add price to the consideration and this is the best. Upon reception you get beautiful blueberry juice and pineapple chocolate cookies while you wait, the rooms are really new and spanking clean, the amenities are totally on point, the hot spring on the top floor has a commanding view of Mt Fuji, if you're lucky enough to get a balcony view the views are fantastic. Breakfast was perfect too. The staff are ultra nice. If there's a small fault, maybe dinner was just ok. Free shuttle bus to the station

I am a cheap person so I have never spent more than $120 on a hotel room, ever! Because of this, I was very hesitant when deciding whether I wanted to book at this hotel. Even if it was the cheapest room at this hotel, it was more than twice what I am used to. However, what drew me in were the good reviews, the garden, and the three onsens. Now that I am back home after my 11-day trip all over Japan, I have come to realize that my best experience, best memories, and my most beautiful photos are from Hotel Kaneyamaen! Even though we only spent 1 measly night here, we experienced so many wonderful things. I realized that despite the high price, it was definitely worth it! 1. Free breakfast and dinner. Wow, the dinner was a 2-hour experience with so many courses! 2. Free drum show and game of bingo in the evening. 3. Access to three different onsens. The best one is the one on the roof with a view of Mt. Fuji. 4. The most beautiful garden I have ever walked through. I still have no idea how big this garden is; it kept going and going. We crossed a bridge over a river. We hiked up a hill to viewpoint where you can see Mt. Fuji. I think the garden keeps going, but after spending 2 hours exploring and taking photos, we had to get ready for our dinner reservations. We did return the next morning before checking out, but I saw signs that kept pointing further so I don't even think we saw the entire garden. 5. Free tea ceremony in a beautiful room within the garden. 6. Free sample of some drink in another beautiful room within the garden (sake possibly, but I remember being told it was not alcoholic). 7. Free shuttle pick up and drop off. 8. Friendly staff throughout the hotel. They grabbed our bags/luggage the second we got off the shuttle. One staff guided us to our room and made us sit down while she made us tea. While we sipped on the tea, she gave us a map of the hotel and explained the hours and directions to the onsens, our dinner reservation, etc. It was

Most of the time, you what you see on the photos posted, you might give a pinch of salt, not forBessho Sasa. Truly a high quality hotel room. Wanted to book the Fukuchi Type A room, however it's fully book on that day. So I've booked the Mizuho room instead. The room is just slightly smaller but still extremely clean, with coffee machine, food served in the room's dining table and etc, the experience has been one of the best I've had. On top of which, the highlight must be the Onsen at you balcony. What else can one ask for? It's awesome! Pricey but worth it if you have the budget. They even prepared a small gift for my girlfriend because it's her birthday. The thing I didn't like was that they are extremely strict on checkout time, which is annoying.

The jaw dropping window views and surrounding scenery at this beautiful historic facility were made even better by the wonderful staff who go above and beyond to ensure their guests have a pleasant experience during their stay. Management was always quick to greet the guests (who they care about enough to get to know) and help them find their way around the city with maps, suggestions, and easy directions. The rooms themselves are a wonderful experience of traditional culture with modern comfort. The bath house comes as promised with a phenomenal view of Mt. Fuji. (If you want to catch a good view, go early in the morning before the clouds set in.) After a rough day of travel, we arrived at the hotel to find that management had generously upgraded our room so that we could see the mountain and the lake from our bedroom windows. This is by far the best hotel that we stayed at in all of Japan and we will make it our goal to visit this location many more times in the coming years.

This hotel is located within 10 to 15mins walk from the Kawaguchiko train station which is a central point to travel up to Mt Fuji. The hotel provides complimentary pick up from the train station. This was very convenient and once we arrived there were staff members taking us through to our rooms and giving us a tour around the place. Once we settled down we were left free to explore the facilities. The rooms were very large and spacious and had everything we needed. The private onsen was the best thing in the suite along with the Japanese dinner and breakfast. It was one of the best nights stay we have had in Japan and was a real eye opener to see how the Japanese lived. On the day we left we walked to the nearby Lake Kawaguchi before heading back to the train station.

Very cozy and warm. View to die for. Kawaguchiko is just a bit harder though to get to via public transport than say Hakone. Food was great. Staff were helpful but on check in did not speak the best English. When I spoke Japanese she didn’t understand me either as I discovered she was Chinese. This was a small thing, easily overcome as other staff quickly came to my aid and all staff were polite and helpful at all times. We arrived late but they had taken care to book us a seat at the restaurant. Would definitely stay here again.

When we reached Kawaguchiko station, we took the sight-seeing bus (red line-terminal 1) to bus stop no. 18 (Monkey theatre). It was great because we could plan out our activities the next day after passing by all the tourist attractions beforehand. However, from the bus stop no.18, we had to walk to the cottage which some of the road was quite hilly (we followed google maps instructions). Poor my husband had to pull one large luggage! It is best if those who want to stay here to travel with backpacks.Nevertheless, we truly enjoyed the views. It was well worth it! Upon reaching the cottage, we were greeted by the owner and he was very friendly. Our unit was no. 22, it was well equipped, clean and it had the most magnificient view of the mt fuji direct from our balcony! Imagine every morning you woke up to this view! They also provided free shuttle bus to the nearest supermarket and they could drop you off at kawaguchiko station at certain period. Thumbs up!

It was an unforgettable experience even after 1.5 years since I traveled to Japan and stayed at this hotel for just one night. I am still really grateful for the staff, who mailed my eye glasses to me at Hong Kong for free. During my stay, I carelessly left my eye glasses at the hotel, and contacted the hotel for help. I proposed that they mailed my glasses to me and I'm willing to pay the parcel fee, but they offered their kind assistance and insist that they pay the fee. This kind of warm-hearted service surpasses what a 3-star hotel can offer! I was too busy to write a review in 2013, but this nice memory has been remaining in my mind always, and today I am glad to recommend it to my friend who is going to japan soon, and also recommend it to everybody on agoda. Plus, the great hot spring and clean traditional Japanese style room really worth the price! We were all amazed by what we got for that affordable price we paid. And this became the best part of my Japan trip. A extraordinary hotel! :)

If you want to find a ryokan to stay near Lake Kawaguchiko, then Ohya maybe one of the best. The staff are very friendly. We also got a welcome drink and snack. The location is also very good because it is located near Lake Kawaguchiko (ask for the Lake view) and Kachi-kachi Ropeway. They also have a private onsen, which I didn't use because it was fully booked. The hotel is also clean and comfortable.

Definitely a Great Place to stay for a visit to Fuji Area. The hotel is modern and has nice rooms and facilities. The best part is shopping is just a 5mins walk from the hotel. And in the morning, we caught view of Fujisan thou from the side of your hotel room. And because it is located centrally, it is easy to move around. And food is definitely available either at the shopping centre or along the roads. The staff is very friendly and the rooms clean. Except 1 of our room had a leftover smoking smell because the previous guests smoke in the room although it was a non-smoking room. Thou the staff could not change our room because the rooms were all filled, they brought in a dehumidifier for our room. Breakfast was very Great and we Love it! Great Hotel to stay!

Hotel is close to Kawaguchiko Lake, one side is Mt. Fuji view & another is Lake view. Beside hotel is Kawaguchiko Herb Hall, in front of hotel is bus no.7 that able to use Red&Green Line Bus. In daytime there are many restaurants and cafes but in evening I go to Lawson that is 250 m away. In autumn this hotel is in very good location, just walk across the road and start to take photo from lakeside, then walk or ride a bike(hotel has bikes for rent) across the bridge and the great location to take photo of maple leaves with Mt.Fuji is opposite side of lake. There is small onsen&sauna on 1st floor, it's not good view in onsen but convenience to use, I use onsen and massage chair everyday I stayed. Everyone have to pay Tax 150 yen/day(I think it is Onsen-Tax that everyone have to pay when stay in hotel that has onsen). There is free transport van for check-in(3PM-7PM) by call to hotel. For check-out there is van service to Kawaguchiko station every 30min. from 8AM-11AM by booking.

The hotel is a little bit out of town, but it provides a shuttle service into the railway station and it takes only 15 min. The hotel itself is huge area but we stayed in the main block in a fantastic junir suite, as we were upgraded as I requested a non smoking room. The room itself was spacious and very comfortable and clean. The restaurant provided a buffect breakast and diiner which were both delicious hot and plentiful. My wife loves seafood and each night ( we stayed 2 nights ) they toped up with fresh seafood and a lot of variety of other main courses both western and Japanese. The staff in the restaurant we very polite and helpful and nothing was to much trouble. The reception staff we excellent and each time we asked for information we were given accurate proffesional data and also maps which helped us find our next hotel in Hakone. We would highly reccomend this hotel if you want to stay in this area and dont be put off by its location, there is not much to do at night in the town so best to stay out all day and get the suttle bus back to the hotel. The hotel does has lots of faclities including a golf course but I did not take advantage of it, but it looked good.

We are very lucky that we had upgraded to the best room of the hotel.It was totally unexpected! We hv booked 3 ppl room with Fuji view but arranged by the staff to the suite and the highest floor when we arrived! Wow~ There are 2 levels in our suite ,4beds ,2 toilets and 1 bathroom included! The view is excellent and we can see the full view of Fuji! We woke up at 430am to see the sunrise with Fuji in the suite directly! Staff are great and helpful!Esp. the driver of the shuttle bus🙂 Thank you so much for the arrangment! We had spent a great night with Fuji view :) P.S. You can call the hotel to hv a shuttle bus when u arrive the nearest station.

my wife and i had a great couple days here on a short honeymoon. the hotel was a short walk to hiking, paddleboating, lavender ice cream, and only a 40 minute drive to yamanashi (to the northwest)-- the wine region of japan. the hotel was a wonderful launching pad. friendly staff (expect a lot of bowing). the breakfast buffet was also very good. the tomatoes, smoked salmon, sashimi, and locally grown apple juice were favorites. be advised that finding a large selection of restaraunts for dinner (within walking distance) can be a challenge. the hotel does offer dinner, but we ventured out both nights.

My mum and I recently had an overnight trip to Kawaguchiko to see Mount Fuji, it was amazing! We lucked it with the weather and even with the hotel!! The booking was very last minute and it was the first Saturday of Golden Week, so I knew it would be slightly over priced. That said, for the location, and the access to two public Onsens it was worth it. It’s an old hotel, and it does show its age at times, but it does have a charm to it. Also we had a little laugh at the “ROBBY” spelling of Lobby in the lift (if it’s an easy fix you should look into that)

Lake Kawaguchi is about ten minutes walk from Kawaguchiko Station so all the hotels are at least a ten minute walk from station, some a lot longer. This hotel is less than 15 minutes away on foot and is in a great position by the Kachi Kachi ropeway and nearby restaurants and convenience store. The staff were very friendly and although the general decor of the place is outdated the place was quite clean when we stayed there. Our room had a nice bathroom and comfortable beds. Views of the lake are fantastic! Good wifi. Only slight downside was the breakfast was mediocre. Also, the hot spring public bath area just has the one bath, which was too hot for goldilocks (me). Good sauna though. Hotels in this area are generally overpriced but, although this wasn't cheap, was great value.

I have mixed feelings about this place. It was definitely a Japanese experience and the set up of the hotel including the room was spectacular. My feelings towards the place become mixed when I think about whether it was really an experience I enjoyed and whether it was not as much as I was hoping purely because I underestimated the true authentic Japanese customs and tradition it holds. I feel it was my own fault I was slightly disappointed in what I received for the cost of the place and not due to the hotel lacking in the service they provided. I do not think I read the information on the meals in enough detail which proved to be the biggest disappointment when we arrived. Firstly, do not expect to be able to book a table or have any food service to your room if you have not organised it before arrival. They have a bar near reception but we were told it was not open in the evenings, therefore without dinner booked, you cannot utilise any of their food/drink facilities. I appreciate the dinner is organised depending on the number of people booked for the night however I did not realise that was the only food service on offer. They were very apologetic about the situation however could do nothing about it, even when we asked if we could book for dinner in the afternoon. The location of the hotel makes it challenging to go anywhere close although I believe they offer a bus service from the hotel. The actual town is pretty sleepy. Breakfast was also a very vey traditional style Japanese meal without any option for other breakfast selections. I respect and appreciate the level of food that was presented and it was of a high standard but at that stage, we were hoping for a few more options of more modern/western cuisine. I have read that the private baths you can have as part of your room were small. I am over 180cm as is my partner and we found the bath awesome and not at all too small. It was wonderful to see fuji,san just right outside room window( we booked 2 rooms with Mt. Fuji view) very worth it. Air,con are new and quiet. Basically the room are well equipped with all you might be needed. Kettle, tea set, fridge, hair dryer, safe box.. Etc. we book room with breakfast which is nice. We paid extra ¥3500 each for hotel dinner (big japanese set with sashimi, crab legs, japanese shabu shabu(hot pot)..etc it was delicious). Free pick up from kawaguchiko station (ask tourist info staff to call hotel for pick up)but no transport on the check out date. we had to make our own way back to kawaguchiko station which cost us ¥1540 for around 2 km distance by taxi. We had no choice with big luggages for 4 pax. For other days or if you are light travellers. Fujikyu bus stop is right out side the hotel ¥150 each to /from kawaguchiko station. This is very convenience to get around. We also tried a walk from kawaguchiko station it was less than 30 min on a good weather day. There is a family mart / restaurants / super market situated 7 ,10 min walk from hotel. The hotel area is quiet and peaceful. There are indoor onzen and outdoor onzen separate male/female. 2 min walk to lake side. Hotel roof top has view deck for panorama view of fuji,san and kawaguchiko lake, don't miss it!

Koe House is located literally in front of Kawaguchiko station (About 1 minute walk straight from exit). Furthermore, it is only a 10 minute walk to Lake Kawaguchiko. Upon entering the establishment, we were greeted by a young receptionist who was very capable in english. She led us to our rooms and gave us a quick tour of the hotel. The service was impeccable. The hotel caters to speakers from japanese, english and chinese backgrounds. The rooms were unique as they offered old style japanese living with guests sleeping on tatami mats. A great experience for those seeking to explore more about japanese culture. The hotel doubles as a restaurant and offers a cheap breakfast also. Showers are only available during certain times of the day however. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Koe House and highly recommend it to those going to climb Mt. Fuji. (Climbing season is July-August) Definitely would return there!

We arrived at 7.30pm and it was dark. We have no idea of the location of this hotel but was told it was within walking distance from the Kawaguchiko Station. Sure enough, after afew asking around, the hotel was on the right side of the front road from the station. Less than 10 minutes (dragging our luggage) and there to greet us was the owner himself. It was fast and he spoke English. We booked 2 rooms, I got the room with half view of Mt Fuji. My niece and friend got the blocked view. The hotel is quite old and the rooms are as well. But it was clean and very decent. With the price we were paying, we have no complaints. The beds were comfortable too to my surprise. The room was quite cold with no heater or that we did not know how to operate. We can get a very good view of the magnificent Mt Fuji from the lobby front. It was very beautiful!. We dont mind booking this hotel again if we come back this way.

We came to this'll tell not really knowing what to expect, but we did want a view of Mt Fuji and that's what we got. The hotel is located on top of a hill overlooking the lake and facing Mt Fuji. The views from the hotel, we were on the 6/F, are spectular. There are well kept lawns around the hotel where you can sit and view this magnificent mountain. The room we had was fine but aged. The beds were comfortable but the bathroom and shower could do with an update. Large Tv but with only Japanese channels. Internet is avaianleble in the room but the signal is weak, which surprised me for this technologically advanced country. We had breakfast and it was very good but you need to get in early as the Japanese culture is early to rise and early to bed! The buffet caters for all tastes so you will not be disappointed, and you dine with a view of the mountain. Unless you have your own transport you will have to dine in the hotel and given the location is not cheap. Japanese course started from ¥5000 pp. we had transport so did not use the dining facilities, but be warned, despite the location re are few places to eat in the town and you will have to look to fond somewhere, we ended up using Denys! But saying at the food was good. There is a shuttle bus to the town just ask staff for details. The staffs English is limited but they try hard and everything is done with a smile. Ok the bottom line, would I recommend it and would I go back! The hotel could do with an update, Internet is now like having a Tv, it's part of people's lives, they need it, it's like having a tv in your room, so just provide it. So, considering the location, the views, the food I would recommend this hotel and I would go back. Waking up in this location is an experience and one you will not forget. Wonderful.

Everything was perfect! exactly what we expected from a Japanese ryokan near mt Fuji and more! The hotel provides free shuttle pick up from and to Kawaguchi station everyday from 2 pm to 5 pm. This is very convenient since public transportation there is quite difficult to find and it's just too cold to walk around during winter. The hotel provides free breakfast and dinner with superb (5 star) quality! We had lobster, crab, wagyu beef, wine, tuna, salmon, everything were just a total spoilt. Honestly it was really worth it for the price. The room was big (the biggest out of 5 hotels we stayed in Japan), 1 toilet and 1 bathroom inside the room, window is huge and overlooking lake Kawaguchi, The futon was surprisingly very comfortable (I think they use real silkworm material, it was light but warm). However what we like the most is the onsen! If you're going there as couples you can book the onsen for 30mins for 1500 yen(per couple). They have 5 onsens in the hotel. They also have 2 telescopes you can use at night for stargazing. Oh! and they have a rooftop for sunrise and sunset watch (you can see Mt. Fuji and the lakevery clearly from the top). Everything was just great and those 2 days were the highlight of our trip in Japan.

Special thanks to the front desk staff Mr. Asakura. I lost my hat on the bus to Miyama, when I ask the hotel to help. Mr. Asakura called the bus station and found it for me. Since I don't speak Japanese, He even wrote a translation note of the English and Japanese for me to go to the lost and found staff at the bus station. The is the best service I have ever received. This is a great hotel and I would recommend to anyone to visit Kyodo.
