Thua Thien Hue hotels & places to stay

we came across pilgrimage village as a result of reading the lonely planet guide. we had a wonderfully quiet and relaxing time. although not in central hue the free shuttle service negates the lack of centrality. the resort complex consists of many rooms and villas spread over quite a large area. the villa was superb: quiet, clean and very comfortable, with a balcony surrounded by shady trees and overlooking a lily-filled lagoon. the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. the breakfast experience was great. the breakfast-only restaurant is in a lovely location (separate from the main restaurant which caters only for lunch and dinner)with a wide selection of breakfast choices (including noodle soup cooked on the spot by one of the chefs - beware the extra chilli which you can add yourself. yummy but incendiary). we elected to take one of the recommended tours (citadel, tu duc tomb and thien mu pagoda). it was 5 hours well spent - our guide, mr thong, had an excellent command of english, in-depth knowledge of the history of the area and in particular the specific places we visited, and also introduced a lot of cultural and historical aspects of his country that were fascinating, interesting and very informative. we had a wonderful 4 nights at pilgrimage village and would readily return. the only blemishes for us were the frequent absence of staff at the pool to take drink orders (despite the presence of a bar at the shallow end of the pool), and the main restaurant, which was wonderfully laid out but pricey. our guess that this is why there were never very many guests in there - they preferred to take the free shuttle into hue where they could get equivalent or better food and drink but pay considerably less. otherwise scored very high for us.

We stayed here for 2 nights and were not disappointed. Ana Mandara has extremely friendly staff and the best accommodation we had in Vietnam. The beach and swimming pool are beautiful and the restaurant serves delicious food although it is rather expensive Unfortunately the weather wasn't great but if the sun was out this would have been the perfect place! Another of the few negatives is that it is about 15km from Hue and although there was a shuttle to and from Hue twice a day this fills up pretty quickly, so book in advance. We will definitely go back but next time will spend a bit more time at this scenic gem.

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights and it was the best decision we made for our vacation. The hotel was so relaxing, the room was huge which also had the best bed and pillows we ever slept in! In fact, we would love to find out what are the brands of the bed and pillows so that we can get them too! The abundance of TV channels to choose from was also an added bonus. The turndown service was a pleasant surprise for us. The Vietnamese food served in their room service menu was splendid and the price was very affordable. I love the Hue style noodles, pancakes, etc. Breakfast also had a good spread of food for everyone's liking. The hotel is around 8-10 minutes walk away from the main town area, but it didnt pose any trouble to us because taxis were readily available and only at 50k dong. Also, being away from the town meant you wont get disturb by all the loud honking from the cars which you get ever so often in Vietnam. There is a Big C Supermart beside the hotel which you can get water, snacks conveniently. Perfect location! Unfortunately, the pool was due for maintenance for 2 days during our stay. A real pity as the weather in Hue was really hot and humid and a dip in the pool would be really nice. The service and quality provided here was of such high standards, it was hard for us to leave. We look forward to coming back in the near future!

I can not fault the service at our stay at Imperial Hotel. The staff were extremely pleasant - as soon as you walk through the door, you will be impressed! Not only is the hotel new, it is clean whilst maintaining a sense of culture of the real Vietnam, best felt in Hue. The breakfast was amazing. My family like traditional Hue and Vietnamese food for breakfast, whereas I prefer scrambled eggs, natural yoghurt and bran - and we were all very impressed with the selection and variety of food. The wait staff were also very attention. Make sure to try the iced coffee with condensed milk - the best coffee I had in all of Vietnam (we went to Saigon, Da Nang and Hoi An too!). The rooms very clean, very spacious, beds were comfortable and the bathroom was a great size. I didn't find anything wrong with - except that wifi on the 9th floor on our corner room was not very strong. The location - its tucked away on a quiet street, however, you are only a few mins walk away from the hustle and bustle. It is great to be able to walk around and feel comfortable as soon as you leave the hotel. Note - Hue is one of the quieter cities so travellers should be aware that nearly all restaurants close by 10.00pm if not earlier - even on the weekend - so get in early!

We flew to Hue having spent a few nights in Hanoi and Halong Bay. We were met by the hotel driver, in a Mercedes (very nice!). It's about a half-hour ride into Hue itself. The Huong Giang is very well located, right on the Perfume River, within easy walking distance of everything we needed. We had paid a little bit extra for a room with river view; having spent a few nights in a boutique, Old Quarter hotel in Hanoi and a couple of nights in Halong, we wanted somewhere that had a bar to relax in overlooking the river, and the Huong Giang does exactly that. It was dark when we arrived, and we were shown to room. When we opened the curtains, we could not see the River. It's entirely possible that one can see it, in daylight, as it rounds a bend in the distance, but it really wasn't what we'd been hoping for. We went straight to reception and gently aired our disappointment. Within a few minutes (and a Festival beer watching the river), we were re-allocated to room. This turned out to be a suite, bang-smack on the river! The hotel is of medium size and clearly caters to vast numbers of short-stay visitors from all over the world, so we were probably just fortunate. However, the change was accomplished quickly and courteously, and the chap who moved our cases had even picked up my reading-glasses which had been left in the original room. Our room was very clean, comfy bed, perfectly nice. There were one or two small things: the robes could do with being replaced, and I had to ring down for the hairdryer, but these are tiny, minor things. Breakfast is served in a large, attractive restaurant and offers plenty of choice at various stations. We needed to arrange a car transfer to Hoi An, and again this was accomplished very easily and to our specification rather than than to a hotel timetable. Overall, we were very happy with our choice, particularly given the upgrade.

We enjoyed the experience at Cherish Hue Hotel right from the personal checking-in process. The room was clean, and sizeable. The staffs were extremely courteous. The breakfast was really good. The promotional meals were good and offered good value. We paid 3-star price for a 5-star treatment. We are 3-couple group and all of us agreed that we had wonderful stay at Cherish Hue Hotel. Please keep up this excellent standard. Thank you.

We booked this hotel through Agoda after reading encouraging reviews and so glad we did. We were greeted with warm, friendly smiles, from the staff, which relaxed us straight away. We took an instant liking to the reception/foyer area....beautiful décor. The room was on the 9th floor, it was clean, modern, as was the ensuite, no street noise and we felt comfortable, straight away. The balcony was small, but adequate with wonderful views of the Perfume River and the city of Hue. It has great location with good quality restaurants/cafes in the same street and a short walk to the river for boat tours, which are inexpensive, in particular, The Citadel, a must to see. The staff are friendly, polite, with no communication problems and the hotel offers a good room service. Breakfast is served on the top floor (14th) with a 360 degree view of Hue city, the food is very good and plenty of it....kitchen staff are well trained, polite and very attentive. Overall, a well located, modern, friendly hotel, which appears to have it all...We highly recommend the Moonlight Hotel to travelers visiting Hue. Regards Colin & Karen......Australia

The Century Riverside Hue Hotel offers nice rooms with lovely views of the river. It is ideally located for exploring Hue and only a short walk from the river front, where boat rides are available on the hour. There are a good selection of bars and restaurants five minutes walk from the hotel. The breakfast buffet was of a high standard with a good selection of food. The staff at breakfast were attentive and extremely polite. There were plenty of tables to sit at, both inside and outside. The hotel had a lovely swimming pool, which was quiet and relaxing. Perfect for swimming lengths, or relaxing with a view of the river. The staff on reception were helpful and polite. Apart from requiring a lick of paint in places, the hotel really was a joy and made our stay in Hue both relaxing and enjoyable.

We arrived at EMM Hotel in the early morning on a damp, rainy day. Staff at the reception desk welcomed us with warm ginger tea and managed to check us in right away even though the check-in time is at 3:00 pm. Our room is clean, spacious, simple but tastefully decorated. I love the room purple and teal accent since it gives a sense of harmony and tranquility (typical Hue). The bar and pool area is very nice, opened air where you can relax with a drink on a hot day or cool night. The breakfast buffet is adequate with enough varieties from bun bo Hue, banh bot loc to bacon and egg. The staff at the reception desk is always available, courteous, professional, and attentive to all your needs from tour car, street directions, banking, to umbrella. Overall we had a lovely and relaxing 4-day stay with excellent service at EMM hotel.

We booked this hotel through agoda so we got it cheap. When we arrived outside we thought they'd taken us to the wrong hotel. It's big and grand. The room was incredible for what you're paying for. Lovely big bath, walk in shower, huge bed, tv etc. We had the best nights sleep in ages. The swimming pool is on the top floor next to the bar and there's a really good view over Hue. The breakfast had an amazing choice of food and the evening meal was the best meal we'd had in vietnam. We felt like we had a night in luxury for £20. This hotel has just opened so they're trying get as many people in so they write good reviews then they'll put their prices up so get in quick.

This is the third time I have booked rooms at this hotel which used to be Mercure Gerbera Hotel (Accor Group), then Gerbera Hotel (Angsana Group), and now Muong Thang Hue Hotel. Though the name sounds local the quality of service remains excellent. The property is well maintained through the years, and the customer service has improved from better to best. I was just surprised that I had to pay for the use of the sauna. The reception staff were very professional in dealing with guests. At check out time I was surprised to see a bill for mineral water we never consumed but the efficient receptionist managed to rectify the mistake made by her colleague and did not insist in charging us. I will definitely come back to this hotel on my next trip to Hue City.

I stayed here a year ago when it was still called Vina Hue. It was really good. This time I came back and found it with a new name, upgraded facilities, an even better staff and more excellent services/service attitudes. The place might have changed hands and now is under a completely new owner/managerment. That is such a welcoming change. I guess the greatest assess of this hotel, as I experienced it during my stay, is the hotel staff, from the bellboys to the receptionists/concierge to the restaurant team. They all speak very good English and eager to lend assistance. This is especially good for the Engish speaking guests who need a lot of information; which seemed to be the overwhelming majority while I was there. A few minor minuses: the bathroom door in my room is old and it would not shut. The lighting in the bathroom to dim. The bathroom itself could use some upgrade to be on par with other things in the hotel. In overrall, I still grade this hotel excellent compared to other hotels of the same class in Hue and in other parts of Vietnam. A Note to the hotell staff: keep up the good work, your efforts are duly noted and appreciated. I will definitely book my stay at Serene Shining hotel the next time I am in Hue.

like from another review, we nearly missed out on visiting hue, but we're glad that we didn't. and the saigon morin hotel made it our best hotel stay in vietnam.. it's a peaceful haven and great for relaxing from vietnam's city life. while you are here, don't miss on the indulging foot or body massage which costs half of the price you pay in the major cities. my hubby had a facial and he was very happy with it. it's located near to the hue imperial city and dongba market, both of which you shouldn't miss.. hire a guide for a one to two day tour of the imperial city, the thien mu pagoda and the imperial tombs. there is a wonderful local restaurant just 10 mins drive away that has serves hue delicacies at inexpensive prices. all in all, the saigon morin is a great hotel with a great location, with excellent service from the english-speaking hotel staff.

Hue Hotel offers remarkable services for good value. The hotel is charming, with an elegant design and large rooms. The swimming pool is small but very useful after a day in the heat, especially with children. They should just think to increase the number of long chairs around the swimming pool. Or to make more available on demand. The breakfast is top quality, both for Asian and European food.

This hotel is definitely a hidden gem in Hue with top notch five stars hotel service. We were blown away by the service of this hotel the moment we arrived. We were greeted by Pepper who spoke the best English we have met in Vietnam. As she prepare our check-in, we were bought to a table and were served with freshly cut fruits and drinks with a cold tower to freshen up ourselves. Pepper came back to us in less than 10 minutes with a map and shared with us the way to navigate around with town and recommended foods (we loved the Pho and Bun Bo Hue she suggested!). She was very friendly and professional at the same time. The other service staff who bought our luggage to our room was very professional too where he even show us where to find all the amenities in our room. This is the first time we received such service, not even in a five stars hotel. As it was my birthday, my room was nicely decorated with a birthday cake and rose petals on bed too. Breakfast was great even though

Most probably one of the best service in Vietnam. Great hotel, good location, fantastic service. Great experience even at the check in, welcome food and drink served, with good advices referring stay in Hue, with map. Nice clean room, tidy maintanance, free water and fruit basket every day! Perfect sense of what a tourist need in tropical heat( 37C in Hue). The only small negative is the bathroom was a bit small, but no real problem. All staff is extremely helpful but not pushy. Very rare experience!Great hotel punching far beyond its weight. Far better then some other Hue Hotels with one more star... Clearly recommandable- I am never 100 % satisfied but this was something like 95% and next year when I am in Hue I definitely stay here.

I had a terrific stay at Park View Hotel! Although the hotel was filled due to a Festival in Hue I was given a very nice quiet suite by the General Manger. The breakfast buffet is huge ! Both Asian and Western foods. The hotel restaurant is great for lunch and dinner. I booked two tours (Citadel and DMZ Tours) by the hotel and was very satisfied.Very nice pool to relax at.The hotel staff is very efficient and is able to communicate in English very well.If traveling to Hue,I highly recommend The Park View Hotel.You will not be disappointed !

The Alba Hotel was the perfect pit stop on our way through Hue. A short 20 min walk from the train station and situated nicely near markets, coffee shops and good restaurants, it had a great location. The staff were friendly and helpful in booking us a boat ride to the Thien Mu Pagoda and a private car to take us around to Tu Duc and Khai Dinh. The rooms were clean and modern and the best feature is the rain showers after a long day of walking around outside. Overall, we had a great experience.

I can’t praise this hotel enough. For the price you pay I doubt you could find better room quality or service. Rooms were faultless and of a much higher standard than you’d expect from a 3-star hotel. Fantastic shower, air-con, wifi/computer, tv, safe, kettle, fridge, complimentary fruit and drinks. Breakfast was one of the best we had during our entire trip, plenty of choice and as much as you like. Hotel is within walking distance to the Perfume River, Citadel and a number of restaurants and cafes. The biggest selling point of this hotel is the staff. Everyone was very attentive, well-spoken and helped with absolutely any query we had. We were delayed in Hue during a typhoon and the staff were incredibly helpful; we were upgraded (due to rooms being available as other travellers had to cancel bookings due to weather) and helped us for hours trying to contact local airlines regarding our flight cancellation. This will be the first place I recommend to anyone travelling to Hue, no matter their budget.

I organized a private car through the hotel to collect our group of 6 from the airport, once arrived a sweet young lady called Mai collected our clan and took us to the Romance. Once we arrived, the very helpful bellboys took care of the luggages. In the meanwhile, Mai sat us down at the very comfy lobby sofas to check us in and a hot cup of tea was served to greet us. We all felt instantly welcomed, there were free Internet access, about 4-5 computers available in the main lobby and free wifi. The hotel itself provide a good range of amenities and services. Spa including sauna, massage, mani/pedi, for about $8-$10 u get a well worth body massage for an hour. I visited with the rest of the clan every night for a different treatment. There is a pool on the 11th floor, this floor is also shared with the buffet breakfast. Breakfast buffet was average, u have the eggs, pho or bun Bo hue, fresh fruits.. If you skip breakfast you won't be missing out on much. But.... Awesome beer garden!! The staff are gorgeous in the hotel! So helpful, they will literally do anything to make your stay memorable. It's very clean and new, I think only 2 years old, we spoke to a lot of the staff and their English was great. People in Hue are sincere, really enjoyed our stay at the Romance. Will be back ;)

You will not go wrong by taking a few days out of a hectic travel / tour schedule to put your feet up on the beach here. Literally on the beach, the staff and facilities here are exceptional. We ate lunch and breakfast and the food was fantastic. The beach bar offers a low-key place to eat or drink. The absolute best part was the amazing sunrise. The only thing to understand is this location is about a 35 minute drive from Hue. If being in the middle of the action is important, come to the Beach Bar for the day. However, I'd recommend a couple nights in a bungalow to unwind.

When booking I requested a quiet room, but was put in the bungalow next to the restaurant. This place is listed as a hotel and not homestay but the family that run it stay on the property. The family are nice enough, they have 2 young boys that play around the restaurant area and regardless of time are screaming the most high pitched screams all the time. I'm not telling you how to raise your children but this is not the way to run a business where people stay to relax. I can't fault the bungalows they're super comfy modern and new, however smelly dainage is a problem. Great AC and Wi-Fi when electricity doesn't cut out. I stayed for 3 days and each and every time the electricity was out, sometimes for hours which make the rooms unbearably hot. The restaurant, besides the free breakfast is not worth visiting. The food is very bland, low quality and over priced compared to the restaurant on the main strip. After a one or two mouthful of dry over cooked chicken and boring bland dishes I cut my loses and just left it. The saving grace and absolute asset to this family is the young lady that works for them, she speaks good English, very kind and always doing her best to help. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you can cope with screaming kids, power cut, dark dirt road at night that leads to the property.

hong thien 1 is set back in a quiet alley from the busy chuvan an street, making the location conveniently tucked back from the touristy chuvan an. it's not that hard to find since most tuktuk drivers and street people (been lost several times and mere mention of the street was enough for a direction) know where it is. hong thien 2 hotel is along chuvan an and this hotel is almost right across ht2. i took a standard double and got a huge room with 2 single beds. this was spacious, clean, smells good (there is an accouterment that hums and spews a lovely scent in the room). since the hotel is relatively new, the room is more than nice; the beds very comfortable to sleep on, the sheets new and clean, with split type ac, cable tv, ref. the bathroom is the same, dry, moldless and every fixture working properly. more than these physical features, it's really the staff that makes hong thien 1 great. i was traveling from hoi an and when i arrived in hue via the execrable hahn cafe bus (avoid getting this bus from your hotels - i had the misfortune of booking my transits with this bus company twice, each one was problematic), the people from the hotel picked me up at the station for free (email them regarding your arrival and bus name). the staff have probably been briefed how to make their guests feel at home: they warmly greet you in the morning with your first name and know what your agenda is for the day. breakfast is included so i usually order 2 entries (banana pancake with chocolate and omelet, juice) which can be arranged earlier than the usual 7am if you have day tours scheduled for the day. there is clean pool at the ground floor and free internet at the lobby. i was actually invited out for a coffee but was too tired so i had to beg off but the gesture wasn't lost on me. it was sweet. you could book tours while in hue. i just wish they don't hint on moving you frm 1 room to the next when a new guest arrives. great location, great people.

When we arrive at the Hotel the check-in went smoothly. The room are large, clean with a bathub/shower type. For the price we were very satisfied with the room. Breakfast was included and was ok, a major part of the food is not so warm in the buffet ( bacon, sausage etc.) so nothing fancy, but they do offer a egg station where you can get omelette and eggs made so for a free breakfast included with a room with the promotion by 2 nights get one free it was more than we expected. Night management was ok but we had lost the safe combination and nobody on the evening or night shift could help us and we had to go down to the counter to finally get some appropriate response. The day management is just fabulous and really courteous. Only bad side is any tour or services offered in or around the Hotel. We try to book a trip with the Hotel to go to the caves and their price were doubled than the one we found in town and the lady working at the tour desk really didn't know much about tours that was deceiving. We finally went to town and book the same tour in a travel agency for half price they were asking. The hotel rents moot-bikes but again the price asked for a day or half day was way more expensive than what we got in town and that was also deceiving. The hotel is close to center town, but other hotel are closer so you might want to get bicycles or motto-bikes to go around the city. Overall the hotel is cheap for what you get and its clean so I would recommend it but book your trips and transportation outside the Hotel in one of the agencies in the center town. As for Hue city it is nice but we had bad experience with the local population who won't help you with directions or will simply tell you to get lost if you try to ask. Its sad cause we had good experience in all other cities in Vietnam.

Very good location. 5 minutes walk to the Hue Imperial City and Trang Tien Bridge. You can easily find good restaurants, bars, marts and SPA shop around it. Local markets and night markets lie alongside Song Huong River which is just 500m away. Rosaleen Boutique Hotel has very kind and helpful staffs. They gave me much useful information for my trips in Hue. Picking-up in Airport is also provided and you can ask for it by E-mail. The breakfast in the hotel is delicious - kinds of food can be chosen which includes Vietnamese and Chinese food. They also have big rooms and beautiful swimming pool. And the room with balcony has very good view.

When our taxi driver turned off the main road onto a small back alley…we had this doubtful look…’what have we gotten ourselves into…?’ Well, Hotel La Perle Hue turned out to be a gem ! First, located on a small alley way was a good thing, away from the dirty, dusty and noisy main streets of Hue ! But at the same time, its only a short walk to restaurants and a 15 min.walk to the river and night market. The hotel is new, less than a year old, everything’s new, clean and working. Our room was very spacious, comfortable bed, and nice big clean bathroom. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Fruit were free (they even cut them for us). On the day we were leaving, we had booked a taxi for 5:30pm to the airport. When the owner found out, she told us we could keep our room, for free, till 5pm…!! That give us an extra day of sight-seeing, then go back to our room, shower, relax and go to the airport. What more can we say, except - Very Highly Recommended ! 10/10

Incredible villas on the river. Qi was an outstanding host and was very helpful and insightful on what to do in Hue. He booked a fantastic day tour for us on the back of motorbikes with a driver - super fun. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Hue which is central to everything then this is the place to stay. It’s a 2 minute walk to the walking streets which come alive at night and a 15 minute walk across the river to the imperial citadel. 10/10 rating in every category!!
