Quang Binh hotels & places to stay

Our family spent 1 night at Nam Long hotel, during our 10 days trip to Central of Vietnam. This is the good choice for us as the hotel have a perfect location, in the centre of Quang Binh, close to everything, and have many good places to eat around. I booked a family room on the 1st floor (1 double bed and a bunk bed), it is quite clean and spacious.The staff are super kindness, friendly and helpful. All in all, Nam Long hotel is a really good choice for backpackers, and value for money.

This find was a gem! It was the very best homestay that I have come across during my trip to Asia. The beds were softer and more comfortable than my bed at home! The only noise that I could hear was the sound of a gentle sea breeze blowing through the pine branches outside of my window.To be honest, I probably would have overslept had it not been for the amazing smell of breakfast being cooked in the dining area. I ate two meals during my stay at Ocean View and both were exquisite! Try their red curry-it's truly amazing. The hotel provides free bicycles if you feel like looking around-they are right across from the sea, so the ride is very scenic. They also book tours to the caves, which I did on my way out. That was also very worthwhile, I might add. The staff was truly exceptional and made my stay very memorable. By far the best in this area, especially for the price!

It’s my 2nd time in Dong Hoi so I decided to stay somewhere different to last time. This didn’t disappoint. The family who own the place are the nicest people I’ve met in Vietnam, always willing to help, friendly welcome and great service. The rooms are clean as are the bathrooms. There’s a great balcony overlooking a lovely quiet street. There’s free breakfast in the morning which is delicious and at night there’s live music in the cafe downstairs. Honestly one of the BEST places I’ve stayed in Vietnam and I’ve been travelling around here for nearly 4 months. Highly recommended!!

Village House met our requirements for the stay. We stayed in a family room that included a large bed and two bunks. It was great value for money. Pros: Lovely staff Great view of the river Clean and big rooms Free bike to get to town Staff can help with all loca travel needs (motorbike rental, buses, etc Good breakfast options that were prepared well Cons: Location - 20-25 min walk to Phong Nha town Lots of construction at site - loud noise from around 8am which made it unpleasant to stay at the location during the day Our stay was impacted by the awful weather in Phong Nha during early December - it rained almost constantly for our 3 days and we never got anything close to blue skies.

If you're like me a solo traveler then it's all about cheap, but with cheap you lose quality. Not Here! Rock and Roll hostel from the date this is written is only 2 weeks old hence the no reviews yet. I have to say this place is 10/10 very clean, great owner who is super nice BREAKFAST INCLUDED which was great and a coffee. I was torn between this place and Phong Nha Shack since they were both the cheapest but the shack has over 700 reviews and this place had none. I ended up only staying 1 night here because the shack had no AC and I couldn't bear it anymore. Come to this place it's brand new! If I could do it over again I would have stayed my 3 nights here!

The room was clean but the beds were really bad. You could feel all of the springs. Also, the shower and the toilet were in the same room so when you showered, water would get on the toilet and sink. There was a rude encounter with one of the staff members, but we also had good experiences with other staff members there. Honestly can't complain too much, it is very cheap to stay here.

Ms. Tien doesn't speak a lot of English so she employs two employees to help her with the logistics around helping guests (e.g. checking-in, bike rentals, etc). Although Ms. Tien cannot speak much English, I will tell you that she is truly hardworking and very kind to her guests. My wife (who is Vietnamese American) and I felt very welcomed in the homestay. Ms. Tien and her staff are very accommodating and are from Phong Nha so they can give you some useful tips about where to eat or help with booking tours. If you are arriving into Phong Nha by bus - you can request the staff to come pick you up by scooter. The homestay is about 1km away from the main strip where all the restaurants are but it's very easy to navigate. I highly recommend Tien's Cozy Homestay - it's a perfect mix of hospitality, cleanliness, and the location was ideal for us. Please DO come and stay here on your visit to Phong Nha Ke-Bang National Park. The people here are lovely.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights and were looking for a way to break up the trip to Hanoi. Phong Nha was beautiful despite the rain and chilly weather and this homestay was a great cheap option for us. It’s very basic facilities, don’t expect 5 stars.. uncomfortable bed, stains on sheets but wifi was great, the ac worked well, small private bathroom with okay hot water and free breakfast for only 15 a night... can’t really complain! The family was very nice, only one of the daughter really speaks English so a bit hard to communicate at times but if you’re looking for a simple budget option, we recommend it.

I booked over 48 hours before I arrived, but when I got there at 9:45PM, they told me (and another girl who had booked through booking.com) that there were no beds for us as their computer "hadn't been working" (but people who had been here the day before told me that the wifi was working just fine....). The staff was really nice and tried to find a room for us but the whole town seemed to be completely booked. They offered us to sleep on the sofas in the dorm, which we agreed to because, frankly, after 10PM, you just don't care as long as you have somewhere to put your bag down. The weirdest part though was that, around midnight, the last staff member up showed us two empty beds in the dorm?? So I just think they are massively disorganized and only "found out" about those empty beds when everybody else was in bed. Though I do wonder if the staff member would have bothered directing us to those beds if he hadn't wanted to sleep on the sofa himself.... The next day, other backpackers were sleeping on the sofa, so I don't know if they had bookings or not, or if they just fill up the dorm to maximum capacity. Considering this is a 22 people dorm and some people leave at 4AM, I slept surprisingly well. Each bed has a socket and a light and there's lockers. Only two showers/toilets though and people who haven't already checked-in or who have already checked-out use them too, so it can get messy. Breakfast was decent, internet worked fine, laundry is 30000 dong/kg. I did a tour with them, and though you can do it cheaper by yourself, it was a good option if you'd rather not drive a motorcycle in Vietnam: the tour went smoothly, the lunch was plentiful and very good, our guide spoke decent English.

Found this place as passing trade having tried 2 others in the area. By far the best of the 3 and from talking to other travellers it seems the best in the area! Got a double room - spacious, comfy beds, great en suite (great, hot shower with good pressure), clean throughout and very helpful and friendly staff who speak good english. We rented a scooter and booked our bus out via them and no hassle with either. They had a map for us to get to the local sights and were full of advice. Breakfast wasn't great. Don't be put off by the lack of reviews - the receptionist told me the place has only been open a few months and it does seem new.

The hotel is very close to all the tours, caves, motorbike hires, bars, restaurants etc.The room and toilet was very small but clean. Only issue we had was the very loud noise around 6 am of the locals who transit the hotel. The receptionist Quang was very nice and helpful and he speaks English. There's only one ATM which tends to not work sometimes, therefore recommend carrying enough cash as that area doesn't take cards.

A nice stay, but I need to score down because they booked me on a bus to Tam Coc, not Ninh Binh (12 km away). A little annoying when you arrive at 4am not at the place promised. I believe they know this, but sell tickets for this company and rather than be honest and tell you to buy elsewhere. So regardless of what is said, don’t buy a bus ticket here unless you want to go to Tam Coc only.

We stayed in one of the bungalows right on the lake and it was beautiful. The room was huge, with a lanai and great bathroom. The hotel has free wifi, a restaurant, bar, pool, and billiards table to keep you entertained. The restaurant has many food choices and they are delicious and very cheap! Unfortunately, we were there from Oct 13-15 when we were caught in a major monsoon, which killed 21 people in the area. There was so much rain in a 24 hour period, but luckily our hotel was on higher ground. We lost electricity the entire time we were there and unable to leave to sight-see. The staff was very accommodating. We ended up spending the day in the restaurant/bar area. Because they had generators, we still had wifi and they were able to serve us food and cold drinks. The owner of the hotel came around and made sure that everyone was comfortable and did whatever she could. The next day when the rain settled, knowing that we were leaving soon, they hired us a car to take us around town. They also booked a boat and called the Chicken Eco-Farm and they opened up their restaurant to cook for us! The entire staff was great to us through this unfortunate situation. Because there was no electricity, they even let us check out at 5:30pm instead of 12pm and booked us a car to the airport. If I ever decide to come back to the area, this is the only place I would stay!

We had a pleasant stay at Dozy Hostel. The room was spacious, nice and clean. They have a balcony on each floor, which is great place to hang out and enjoy the shadow, when the sun's getting too much. The location is great, as it is not directly down to the more busy main road, but is located a few blocks back in a more cozy and "local" area. Last but not least, are the hosts worth mentioning as they've been amazingly kind and helpful whether it's been booking a bus, scooter or recommending places to visit. Furthermore they provide bicycles for free. On top of it all they have the cutest dog, which is now our best friend!! - thank you!

This hotel was one of the best experiences I EVER had. The management of this hotel treated me like a VIP. My wife recently died, and they opened up their hearts to me. They invited me to a family dinner. Then they brought me to a small Village wedding, Two days later they took me to a city wedding. I love tennis, so they arranged three tennis doubles matches for me at a local tennis club. Today they brought me to a birthday party, where we had one of the best meals of Crab, squid, shrimp, and clams. They also introduced me to local favorites, duck egg with fetus, eel soup, and local desserts. But most of all, they made me feel like family. This hotel has great food for breakfast lunch and dinner. It is one of the few places that has an equal amount of Vietnamese and foreigners staying and eating here. The food is made for the tastes of each, authentic Vietnamese and Western food. Eat on the patio facing the river or inside where they have an awesome array of comfortable padded seats and couches. (Hard to find in a land of little plastic stools). The rooms are not the Hilton Hotel, but it’s clean, the air conditioning is perfect, the beds are comfortable and the hot water is plentiful but I often took cold showers because it’s hot outside! I love Geminai Hotel and everyone who works here! Stay here!

The family are so incredibly kind, inviting and generous. It is located out of the city amongst the locals - exactly what we were looking for. The room opened up to a beautiful view of the mountains. It was very spacious, clean and tidy. A home away from home. They even picked us up and dropped us at the bus stop on the Main Street. Breakfast is delicious and very big. We especially loved the family - one of our most memorable stays in south east Asia!

Super close to Airport and super friendly staff. I arrived at 8pm and all surrounding food stores had closed. I asked the staff if they could get me a taxi but their English was lacking and we worked out it would not be possible. I gestured to staff i would go to sleep but they wouldn't have and it implied i must be hungry. The staff went out of their way and actually cooked me a home-cooked meal of beef noodles!! Never experienced such hospitality. 110 out of 100

This is a wonderful, basic hotel in Dong Hoi. Spartan, but has everything you need for the price. If you need fancy artwork or a separate dining room, this isn't for you. But it suited me fine and judging by other comments many other people too. The front desk is helpful and, while they don't all speak good English, they will refer you to a person who does. The manager is a beautiful lady who speaks great English and is super helpful in every way. All the staff were great! We booked a private driver to take us to the caves - easy peasy - and avoided the crowded 'set tour' buses (we are 3 very tall travelers). We don't like being herded through sights and just took our own time in the caves. It's cost effective, even if you are traveling alone. The caves are well worth the trip to Dong Hoi. Incredible, and set up well for tourists. There is no need to try to stay at the caves, it's a 1 - 1.5 hour drive from Dong Hoi. We extended our hotel stay becasue it was so easy to be based in the Nam Long Plus hotel. I would highly recommend just booking the car and driver they have at call. We also booked the car and driver to take us to Danang (5 hours and more comfortable than a bus or train).

I had 2 nights stay at this hostel with dorm option. The room is very new, clean and full facilities to let you take a rest after a long day of visiting everywhere. The owner is very hospitable, nice and friendly to support guests (rent motorbike, tour to the caves,...) Location is good to go anywhere with few mins to call to Nhat Le beach, Nhat Le bridge or go straightly to any caves in this province. I will come back here in the future.

Its a nice and tidy hotel. The owner is amazingly friendly, helpful and kind. She gave us instructions to delicious and reasonable restaurants around to taste local food. The room is clean, well equipped with new air con, fan, tv... And this one is close to Dong Hoi airport, about 10 minutes walking, and the owner provided us a free ride to airport. Definitely will book this hotel when I'm back there in future.

This is a basic hotel, run by one of the sweetest families in phong nha, they’re always on site smiling and checking your happy plus hydrated! Thanks for all the water! The basic nature of this place is all you need because the area is seriously beautiful and intense. A mountain face hangs over the roof terrace and the caves are just down the road. The best thing about Song Toan is the reception guy (sorry we never asked your name). My girlfriend asked a million questions and he answered them all, sometimes he had to go away check but he always found the answer, everything he booked was good value for money. His prices were the same or better than the booking offices on the street. It gets better. He gave us a short scooter lesson, carried our bags to the bus so that we could queue for good seats and had genuine interest in why as well as what we were doing in Phong Nha. There’s so many hotels and hostels in Phong Nha, this ones our favourite.
