Keelung City hotels & places to stay

We are living in Taiwan for two years and on the weekends we take mini trips. We always try to pick a top hotel and then we go and enjoy being waited on. We have had some great experiences and very few trips that we did not like. This weekend we visited some little towns and villages north of Taipai and decided to get a hotel in Keelung. It was a great trip. The Evergreen hotel is right on the water and in the middle of the port. It was a lot of fun and we enjoyed the stay. They had good free internet so we could keep up with everything. The room was average size and it was clean. They provided everything that a person would need for the stay. It was very nice. We ate at the hotel restaurant for dinner and they specialize in Italian food. It was really good. The breakfast was very nice with lots of food both western and Asian.

The hotel is very centrally located near the station, port and night market, and the rooms are clean and comfortable with a large bathtub. There is a comfortable lounge with coffee and other drinks, but not much else in the way of facilities. I was able to park my motorbike right outside overnight with no issues, and the staff were friendly and efficient. I would happily stay in the hotel again and it's a short ride/drive to some interesting places, but I wouldn't recommend the city of Keelung itself to travellers, as there is little to see and the air pollution near the harbour was shocking.

Though room size is small, but cleanly equipped with all neccesities that you would need during travel. We were backpacking so, it was easy walk from Keelung train station. Very easy to catch local buses to Juifen, Ruifang, etc or for walking to shops, local food stalls, restaurants, ramen shops, temples, parks, harbor front, night market. It is kind of boutique hotel. First little hotel we ran into that has laundry facility for guests, using coins, but hotel provides a big bucket of laundry detergent. Breakfast is very typical. If we come back again, we would choose this hotel again. It appears well managed.

The simple room was very small and didn't have a window, but we weren't planning on spending a lot of time in there anyway. It was more of a base to explore the city of Keelung. The bed was comfortable and it was clean. The breakfast was delicious and the lift was fast. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the night market was a 3 minute walk away. There was easy access to banks, ATM, food, taxis, and a great tea place just down the street. The AC worked great and we would stay here again. The only negative is that the walls are very thin and we could hear other guests talking loudly in the hallways. They also play music in the hallway that you can hear in the room, but they turn it off at 11.00p (?) and it isn't on in the morning. We didn't have a huge problem with the noise, but others might.

The E-Coast Star Hotel allowed us to check in early and kept our bags for a time after we checked out. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful and they spoke English very well. The beds are Western-style (read: not rock hard and quite comfortable), the shower was awesome, and the overall design was new and modern. We stayed in a room with a mini-fridge, huge flat screen TV, spa-like shower, and comfy king-size bed. The hotel provided everything you might have left behind - razor, comb, slippers, toothbrush, ...even a hair clip! The breakfast was waaaay better than expected for the price. There was an espresso machine, eggs, sausage, cabbage, salad greens, juice, milk, breads and jam. We left well-rested and full both days we stayed here. The hotel is situation between the famous (eh ;/ ) night market and the Keelung Station. Easy access to many attractions...must check out the hiking trails in Pingxi if you're up for a bit of an adventure;) The night market didn't live up to expectations, but we got our fill of cheap eats. Great experience - highly recommended hotel!

Location wise you need to google your way. Take about 7-8 mins walk from KeeLung train station. Once you out from train station you will see the overhead bridge. Cross the road the head to your left, you should be able to see the harbour on your opposite side . Walk straight till you see McDonald then turn right and you will see Keelung night market street. the hotel is on the second floor and no lift. You need to carry your luggage all the way up. Staffs are friendly and check in an hour early (if it is not peak season) Free self laundry and dryer to wash your own clothes.

Near to Miaokou Night Market but requires 15 min walk from TRA Keelung Station. After familiarising with area, navigation to hotel is easy. Front of hotel has a short flight of stairs and lifts appear to be very old. Cleanliness in room is satisfactory except for the old carpet highlighted by several previous reviews. Lingering cigarette smell at room level although non-smoking room is requested. Breakfast is satisfactory although more choices will be better. Hotel does not respond to special request sent via Agoda. Tourist map is also limited.

we paid for two nights but they told us to get our things out after 12:00 to 20:00 after the first night, I had to complain seriously not to pay and not to take our things out. the motel is very nice except some not clean sofas and the sex toys in the wardrobe (what if a baby sees it?) for its beauty and high level should be an hotel not a motel. they also offered us the towels and all the stuff for shower and also some food. breakfast was little choice. there was free park for car. the Only point are people singing until 5 of day... by the way there is Also a tv in front of the bath. we checked out late so we paid more but for how the staff gas been rude they should have made It free but they Just gave us a 100 Twd coupon... the location btw is very nice cuz near the Lover's lake and Dawulun Beach and in a quiet Place.

The view from the hotel windows is simply spectacular. You can see the blue Pacific Ocean, green mountains and the golden town of Jiufen. The location is just perfect: next to Badouzi Marina and the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology, with many restaurants and cafes in the vicinity. The room was spacious and nicely furnished. The staff was nice and friendly. Unfortunately, the hotel has no restaurant facilities, so the breakfasts were just a fast-food restaurant sandwiches and a small cups of coffee. If you don't mind this, then the stay was overall very satisfying.

Has a sketchy feeling to it, not the best place for family travelers (beware when flicking through TV channels). It was just a place for us to sleep the night (couldn't find other accommodation in Keelung). The place looks old and the rooms do have a hint of smoke smell, but our room was generally clean. The staff were really friendly and eager to help. Location was pretty good, close to the maritime plaza and night market. Overall, don't expect too much. Good enough for just a night's stay.

Location is overall pretty good, in the heart of Keelung, close to the wharf and night market, but it is down a small alley, which can make it somewhat difficult to find. Check-in staff were polite and very helpful with parking (actually came with us and rode in the car to direct us to the parking lot, since downtown Keelung is pretty hectic), laundry and directions. Room itself was basic but satisfactory. AC was weak at first, so weak we thought it was broken, but it did work up to our expectation after a few minutes. Included breakfast is a sandwich and drink delivered to you room in the morning, and is pretty good.

Gwodoo hotel more like the voodoo hotel. the hotel was dirty and creepy, as soon as you get in I got the willies from the staff and its surroundings/ambiance. We were lucky enough to escape with out any spells or witch craft thrust upon us during our stay (not all visitors are as lucky). the voodoo hotel was dirty and weird but it is possibly the cheapest stay in keelung and that is its redemption. the linens, sheets and blankets etc. were all though old but clean, and the staff did their best to communicate with us, and it is very centrally located to train/bus station and night market. over all if budget is your bottom line and its not your first rodeo the voodoo hotel is fine for a night or two but really no more.
