I had a good stay at the Thansur Bokor resort. I had been in Cambodia for three weeks and I was ready to go somewhere to cool off. This is the only hotel up on the plateau near the old French Bokor hill station, where it's cool enough to wear long pants at night. My room was very nice, the staff was great and welcoming, and the food was good, both the breakfast and lunch buffets and the a la carte dinner I had. The occupancy rate was very low the night I was there so the hotel had an empty feel, but that certainly wasn't a problem. There is a casino but I didn't go in there. The views down to the sea from the nearby Buddhist wat and the old cliffside hotel a pleasant 20 minute walk from the hotel were great. Giant Ibis bus company is supposed to have regular service on the 40 minute run up to the hotel from Kampot, but it turned out not to be running--I managed to get there, though. Just be sure you know you can get there before you book the room.

I stayed here for 3 nights initially in the bungalows and I cancelled my bus and hotel reservations to the next location to stay here longer.hans and his family and staff have welcomed and treated me like one of the family if I did not have to leave they would have to remove me by force!!great pool area to chill in the day,the grounds and view are just unbeatable in kampot it felt like an exclusive high star place.the food is just fantastic I did not have a bad meal here and every night at the bar is such a great laugh!the rooms are clean spacious and if you stay above the bar you will enjoy the best views over the river and mountains beyond.i can't recommend this place enough i will be returning in July to bring my mother .... The only place to stay in kampot!!!

stayed at this resort for one night upon returning to Phnom Penh. the resort itself is in a very isolated location, quite far from the main roads so you can be sure there will be plenty of peace and quiet from the usual bustling main roads. the resort itself was very pretty and the rooms were very nice. the only downside was that superior rooms have their showers outside which i found a little bit uncomfortable. the bathrooms are big so surely they could have fit a shower inside but apparently only if you book a deluxe will you get that feature. i have to say that the swimming pool was the main attraction for me, it is designed as an infinity pool and is just very relaxing to swim in. i recommend watching the sunset from the pool for a romantic touch. food was delicious and breakfast was standard. all in all very happy with my stay, no complaints here. they even offer an extensive selection of DVDs that you can borrow at no cost for a night in.

This was the second/remaining hotel booked in Kampot. My fiancée and I were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. The prior night we stayed at a Resort/Coral Bay hotel, that hotel was a completely opposite of this Hotel FIve S. The staff, Kosal, at Five S was very friendly with excellent customer service. He greeted us, provided a welcome drink and explained the area to us (even though my fiancée is Khmer). He carried our bags up three flight of stairs and when we entered the room, there was a very nice decorative message on the bed with local flowers. The room was super clean, spacious and decorated very well. When I asked if he could get a moto rental, he had one at the hotel at the time specified. The breakfast options were very good, Asian or Western style. Overall, it was exceptional hotel in my perspective and I have stayed at several 3-4 stars in Cambodia, this one will be on list when I go back to Kampot. The other hotel not so and although I would like to write a review on that one, I won't since its owned by a Cambodian official. Would I stay and recommend Hotel Five S, the answer is a positive YES.

The hotel was lovely, we had a great time so much so we extended our stay another night. The breakfast was not the best but edible. The worst thing that happened we ordered a taxi to Phnom Pehn. The receptionist decided to send him away. We were very disappointed as this was a private arrangement we had made. She didn’t seem to understand we made the Booking and wanted to have our original driver. She booked another driver and we never got to explain to our original driver why we didn’t use him.

I stayed there for 2 nights during my Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia trip and I really enjoyed my stay in the MAKK hotel. The hotel is located quite central but still quited. The rooms are very nice and the staff is just fantastic. They really care about you. I booked an one day tour with a TukTuk to the countryside including the pepper farms and the Kep fish marked via the hotel and this might have been the best tour I ever had. They also organized my trip to Phnom Penh for me and it also worked great. The only thing that I regred is that I didn’t stay longer. This might be the best city to stay in Cambodia. With my knowlage now, I would stay 3-4 night there.

This is a new hotel.It is close to the river.There is no telephone at room.The door isn't automatic,it must be opened by key.The room is clean.There is a small swimming pool.The breakfast is simple,only can order one item and one drink.I think the breakfast must be improved.Renting motorbike is very cheap,only takes 5 dollars per day.The staff is very helpful.He dealed with every question that I asked.compared with Vietnam,the hotel is cheaper.

Vibola is on a very quiet street only one block from the river front. Very close to many restaurants, shopping, and convenience stores. The staff are very friendly and do their best to help even with the language barrier. The rooms are a nice size with very comfortable beds and great A/C. Just wish they had in room safe and kettle. The pool is in he center of the hotel and, although not that big, was very clean and a great place to relax. Definitely a great budget hotel!

The hotel doesn't actually face the river but the hospital across the side street so no nightclub noises nearby! The restaurant is basic but breakfast and lunchtime baquettes were delicious. Bathrooms are very small with shower right near toilet and basin but plenty of wTer and hot if you wanted it. Room was large with 2 double beds fan and ac. Hanging rack for towels wardrobe for clothes chest of drawers as well. T V with remote. Great value indeed even thoughh no lift but only 3 stories. Central to everything in Kampot. Courteous and friendly family of staff.

We were so happy to discover this little island of Beaty and piece amid horrifying surroundings. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food is delicious (try pancakes with fruits- it's fantastic). One can rent a bike right there, or order a tuk-tuck driver. We did both and it was worth it 300%. Take a tour with Angie. This tuktuk driver is great guide, former deminer who knows lots of interesting stories and will bring you to the hidden places. Don't miss this opportunity. The rooms look very authentic, thus very comfy. Don't expect a perfect state, so you can find some spots on the ceiling, or broken shower, or AC leakage (don't leave your stuff under it, so there is chance to have it wet), BUT after you report to the staff, they change everything or can give you another room. We highly recommend this place for a couple of days stay in Kampot

Beautiful hotel in a respectfully refurbished French colonial building. Located a couple of minutes walk away from the riverfront, this hotel offers perhaps the best located, and most luxurious hotel experience available in sleepy Kampot. Our room was large, exceptionally clean, and decorated in a minimal, yet contemporary style. The bathroom was huge and included a massive walk in shower (easily space for 6 people if you were so inclined!) with lovely hot water and good range of free products. The owners were brilliant - super friendly and accommodating, they were able to arrange any kind of trip or excursion we fancied at short notice (we decided to visit Bokor National Park the next day at 22:30 one night, and the time didn't seem to pose an obstacle).

My girlfriend and I traveled through Cambodia for a month through Siem Reap, Battambang, Sihanoukville and Kampot. Mea Culpa is by far the best accommodations we've stayed at. Their service here stands out more than other accommodations. We were greeted with a smile every time we speak with them. The area of the hotel is very relaxing. Great for just sitting and having a drink. The general area is quiet at night and the guests who choose to stay here are generally quiet as well. They give you free bike for use which allows you to get to the city center within 5 minutes. Tour booking through them was simple and easy. They also have great recommendations on which tour to do and cheap places to get a haircut. I can recommend this accommodation to anyone and we will definitely return!

We selected this hotel based on Location and the reviews. Hotel was quiet clean and comfortable. Still very new and it is obvious that the staff have not had much exposure to western clients. Do not expect much for the free breakfast, Two fried eggs and bread or omelet and bread. Nothing else. Coffee and a coke was $5.5 so the breakfast was not really free at all. No TV but overall the hotel was exactly what we were looking for. A clean, comfortable room where we could sleep at night. Nothing extra

We had a fabulous time at La Java Bleue. The owner/manager, Pascale, and her staff are great, as are the rooms. There are only 3 rooms here, and we had the Chinese room on the top floor with our own private terrace and chairs. It was great! Very clean and cozy, great breakfast, everything handled well. Sony at the front desk speaks good English and got bikes for us for $1 for the whole day, and also booked our bus ticket to Kep for us. We felt confident things would get done, and they did. Jean-Claude and Sinath are also great. Everyone was very helpful and kind. The location is fabulous - a block off the river and very quiet. The only drawbacks were: some mosquitoes in the room (they could remedy this by spraying the hallways), a bad sewer smell in the toilet areas most times (they said this was due to rains, and Cambodia does have its problems in this area), and bird house noise in the morning (if you're not familiar with the birds' nest industry here, check it out - the fake bird music loops all morning/evening and it can be a bit of a drag - there was a birdhouse across from our room). Consider the Bokor tour with Mr. Try (Tree Travel Service/Kayman Tours) - the hotel can book for you for $15/pp. It has been somewhat ruined up there by development but still worth the trip, and the boat tour at the end was fabulous. We would come back here in a heartbeat! Kampot is also lovely and great to stroll around. For food, don't miss Happily Dreamy Pizza on the river - we ate here twice and it was great.

We took a risk with this booking as there were no reviews, and so glad we did. This is a brand new small place with several bungalows. We stayed directly on the river front. Bathroom was clean with a good shower. Bed was clean and comfortable. Not a vast amount of space but enough for us. Lovely small decking area to chill on the river, with your own steps leading down ready for a dip. Staff were just super friendly and helpful. Fantastic English guy cooking meals too, would highly recommend eating here. You must expect some noise in the evening as these huts are close to the eating/drinking area and there's lots of other back packer kind of accommodation on the same stretch of river. If you hire a ped you are two minutes away from the town centre, plenty of places to eat. This is our second visit to Kampot as we love it for a short stay on our travels. Superb value for money, best location in Kampot, next to the river, best restaurants and tour operators and as well not far from Durian roundabout. Spotless clean. The staff could have been a bit more attentive to guests though and the only problem I have had with this place is that internet is not reliable. Most of the time I had access but I didn't have it when I arrived when I needed it the most. Other than that, very happy with this place and would stay again for sure.

After staying smack in the center of town, this place felt a bit out there. That being said, is its realistically only a 15 min walk or 4 minute motorbike ride, which you can rent at the property. The pool was great! We loved having a place to go cool off in. Overall, the amenities were pretty decent but Def no 5 star. I'd say the biggest drawback is that the staff doesn't speak any English making communication with all guests (at least that's what we heard from neighbors) very difficult! Overall, I'd recommend this place (and a scooter). We loved it!! A nice, quite place to relax.

This hostel is excellent for escaping the tourist hustle. Only 15 mins walk along the riverfront from the Town Centre. 5 mins from the start of the Restaurant strip. Great English/Khmer/Swedish speaking owners and staff are able to organise transport, tours and passport visas. Internet is excellent and the sunset view from the bar is one of the best I've ever seen. It's great if you want a bit of peace and chill out time. I'm going return on my next visit.

This was my second stay because it's getting busy in Kampot and harder to find longer availibilty, I should've booked ten nights when I had the chance. Please read my previous review but I have to say one more time this is an excellent hotel and the Cambodian staff are wonderful. I have stayed in countless hotels throughout South East Asia and I cannot fault this one. I highly recommend the Blue Buddha hotel.

Champa Lodge is a seriously beautiful place located up river from the quaint town of Kampot. It's only a 10 minute tuk tuk ride from town but has the most serene riverside location. The rooms are traditional Khmer houses set on stilts with either a garden or as we had, a stunning river view. Our house was beautifully decorated in traditional style with the luxury of a five star hotel. Our balcony had an outside area for us to lay and watch the wonderful wildlife and the fishing boats returning from sea. It's a view that we will never forget. The owner Stefan is an excellent host and makes you feel very much at home. He is very knowledgeable about the area and provides you with Kayaks to explore the river which I thoroughly recommend. The food is sensational and the Belgian beer is cold and refreshing! Champa Lodge is amazing value for money and our two night stay was perfection!

We love to stay in locally run boutique places so if you enjoy that type of environment this is the place for you. The rooms are extremely clean, spacious , air con is available and they have blackout curtains. The place is quiet and the owners are very helpful informing you of the best apps to book a tuk tuk or booking one for you for only $1.50 to the town centre. The staff speak good English and compared to other places we stayed in Cambodia the bathroom was spacious had a fan for ventilation and had great pressure and hot running water. For a exceptionally clean, basic but local experience stay here to help support this local family.

Beautiful place here. The Staff all seem very honest and friendly. The rooms are big clean and the Air con works great. There is a laid back bar upstairs with a pool table and social atmosphere. Restrant does good breakfast. There is also a food place either side and an rustic boat bar oppsite and a sunset dinner boat tour next to that. It is Walking distance from the high street. Its a great place. Each evening you can watch the sunset from the roof top bar or the 2nd floor smoking area balcony. Both over look the large river with mountains in the background. AKA very nice view. I booked a tour to the top of the mountain with reception and there was a free pick up. I recomend

If you have been to Kampot a few times and kind of stayed everywhere already, but still want to go back and discover it from a new angle - then book a stay at this great place called Sabay Beach! It's been constructed and managed by a group of young, yet super professional French people coming from hospitality background (which shows!). They have trained their staff super well and the whole place feels welcoming, warm, organized and relaxed. It was designed to be a bit rustic, but everything is still very comfy. One of the highlights is the CUISINE, which is at par with Phnom Penh's restaurants. You really don't have to go anywhere unless you have to. I am saying this because you will read a lot of comments about the state of the road going to Sabay Beach. It's survivable :) 1 back and forth trip per day is absolutely doable. I hope they will improve the road soon.

We loved our stay here. Be aware that you are pretty far from the city center so you will constantly need tuktuks or a scooter to get around. Our room was perfect, just like the pictures. A riverside room with a ladder down to the river and an amazing hammock to watch the sunset over the mountains. We nooked this place to get away from the noise as we have been travling for some time. We were a little unlucky as they neighboring property was dredging the river. A constant motor was heard from 7am sharp to about 17h30. Another annoyance was what seemed to be a kararoke bar a little down stream. We were treated to horrying untalented locals singing their hearts out for most of the night. Had it not been for these two issues, our stay would have been 100% perfect. The coffee and food at the restaurant are really good and the staff are very friendly. The daily breakfast specials are great. I would definitely want to come back if I could be sure there would be less noise.

very friendly and warm staff run by an aussie and his cambodian wife. just totally relaxing to sit with a drink and watch the activity on the street along the river. the breakfast was good (eggs and bacon, juice, coffee) tho i had dinner there one night and had the ribs which were no doubt the toughest ever. last year i had ribs at the rusty nail(?) i think that is the name and they were the best ever but the ambience is not great so i made the mistake of having them at bokor mtn lodge.

Clean room and bathroom, great central location, kind staff. Free welcome drink was a small bottle of water - and we had to ask for it, otherwise we would not get it. "Free bottled water" meant that you would only get one small 330 ml bottle of water per person per day. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay there. It was one of the best budget hotels we stayed in during our travel and we would stay there again.

This property's location is excellent. I booked the terrace room, which is a one flight walk-up and overlooks the street. The terrace has two chairs and a table. Unfortunately, when you sit, you cannot see said street through the thick railing. The room is large, yet lacks a bureau, shelves, or hooks. If you're staying for more than a day, you end up either leaving everything in your suitcase, or placing it all on chairs. The TV has a couple of English channels. The aircon works fine. The shower is wet-room style and the water is sufficiently hot. There is no in-room safe. The hotel's restaurant has a fine menu including western and asian fare. Aside from the inside tables, there are some outside in "sidewalk cafe" style. The Swiss owner/manager (Cédric) has a chef's background and so you know this food is top notch. The staff are friendly and professional.
