Good location, free breakfast and lovely reception lady ( or manager, owner maybe). One big minus - room was very damp. We decided to look for another hotel for the next day ( initially we booked just for one), but since the staff was so nice we decided to stay one more night despite the dampness :) Wifi in the rooms so so, usualy you had to stand up and go closer to the door in order to get some internet. Anyway, friendly manager made the stay great, thanks.

Room very clean and nice , with very cheap price you can get a private room with everything private ( bath room , hot shower , air codion also fan in room available , staff very friendy and help full , breakfast include with this price , I dont want to say anything else but it is the best hosel for me in Viet nam , I take I day tour from cat ba hostel to Lan ha bay and Ha long bay , also I rent moto bike from this hostel

We have no complaints about this hotel. Location was great, right down the street from the main strip. On the same road as Rose Bar, a fun place to go at night. We walked to the beaches with no problem. Good restaurants super close by. The lady at the desk spoke no English but that was not really a problem, hand signals sufficed. The internet was good and the aircon was cold. They cleaned our room every day and didn't mind when we checked out! We each paid five dollars so definitely no complaints!

Yes, it's 4km from the city but if your a travel couple or a traveler looking for peace and quiet with exceptional staff and decent food then this is your place. This homestay offers motorbike rentals so its very easy to get to town, a fun 10 min ride and your there. Free breakfast items too! Delicious eggs, toast and fruit. Full menu for lunch and dinner. Tours offered to Ha Long Bay and national park- my gf and chose to create our own tour- simply put. We rented a motobike and rode to the harbor and paid for our own private boat for the day. Easy to do and plenty of locals renting out there boat to You! No need to pay for a "touristy day trip/organized tour" make it yourself! Sweet potato has amazing sweet owners. If you leave your room they will cut the airconditioner power until you return inorder to save money. Just a heads up. Its all good, why waste theyre money. It's on once you return. Stay here! Away from the city. Peace and quiet♡ of we return we will stat here.

Awesome place to stay for a few nights in Cat Ba. A couple minutes from it’s 3 main beaches by scooter. Comes with a great western breakfast every morning and the owner is very nice and friendly and helpful. Only downfall was the bed wasn’t the best as far as comfort goes and there was construction next door that woke us up early every morning but that wasn’t terrible because it got us up earlier to enjoy our stay and explore the island

Quynh Trang Hotel is a bit away from the city center, but close to the fruit market and away from the noisy square, where music playing until late at night . The beaches can be reached by open minibuses for 10 thousand dong. We decided to walk and enyouy the breath-taking views so the trip takes about 20 minutes unhurried step. The hosts are extremely hospitable and welcoming. They offered us the best room to the seventh floor with marvelous view on the sea. Breakfasts are standard - pancakes, eggs, but several times we were offered incredible delicious Vietnamese noodles in addition to the usual menu. Also we were invited to dinner with authentic cuisine. In the hotel you can dine. We did not take this opportunity, there are a lot of cafes nearby, where Vietnamese and European menus are offered. The room is very comfortable - it is roomy and has two French windows overlooking the bay and the lake. Air conditioning, plasma TV are also offered. There is a kettle, which is very important for us - local coffee is very tasty and we could drink it right in the room. There is a capacious wardrobe and chest of drawers, all our belongings are located without problems. Bed linen and towels were changed every day, daily wet cleaning.Right in the hotel you can book excursions to the National park and a cruise on the Halong bay. We went on a one-day cruise, drove into the Monkey Island, sailed on kayaks and swam. Just unforgettable impressions! We recommend you to choose a room overlooking the sea. The hotel administration started to make our stay as comfortable and pleasant as it possible. Thank you for our wonderful vacation!

Great hotel. We had a spectacular room on the 6th floor with a balcony view of the harbor and all the little boats in Cat Ba. No worries about the 6th floor--they have a shiny modern elevator. Excellent value-for-money, best we've had in Vietnam so far. Ba is very (very) friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The place is steps from one of the most popular eateries on the island. Ba's tour was great too, and we were among others who'd paid more for the same tour. The "cherry on top" was that we'd booked for a particular night, paying in advance, but bad weather meant we were a day late for our reservation. We called Ba that night, he said, "No problem", and we had the same room with no money lost for the next night. Seriously, come to Ali Babas. Thanks again!

It is the best place if you want to have a romantic or peaceful vacation. There's only 1 resort at the island, so you'll feel that the island belongs only to you. Kayaks, inflatable rings, pool and KTV are free of charge. The short tracking route will bring you to the other beach without any signs of people. It reminds me of Robinson Crusoe. Restaurant works from 6.30 am till 8 pm, the portions are generous and not expensive. And a free ferry to/from Cat Ba makes the whole trip more exciting.

This hotel was out of this world for hospitality, comfort, location, cleanliness, value for money, friendly staff, advice and assistance - the list goes on. I cannot rate this place highly enough. The bed was massive and so comfy,the room was clean with all the appliances we needed, the breakfast was delicious, the staff were so helpful and welcoming - they helped organise everything we needed from tours to motorbikes to our trip back to Hanoi. We were a short stroll from all the local bars and restaurants and I cannot get over how reasonable our end bill was. I will always remember this place as being (as it states) a perfect "home from home".thank you everyone for making our stay so enjoyable (room 704 and702)

This place was exactly what we were looking for when going to cat ba. An authentic experience on a homestay that was away from town and relaxing. The location is right next to the woodstock beach house where you can go to socialize with other backpackers, smoke up and party. Many people from there came to cat ba beach house to eat because the food was so cheap and delicious. The host was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. We rented scooters from woodstock and drove around the island seeing some amazing views. The beach here is very soft sand but you cant really swim off it because its very rocky. My only complaint is the showers, they were more like outdoor showers and so had some mold and no hot water. Other than that i would highly reccomend this place for the hippy vibe of the area.

Good hostel. The staff are really friendly and helpful and have exceptional English. The hostel looks over the bay and is a short walk to some really good nearby restaurants. We booked the Eco Boat tour around Ha Long Bay through the hostel. It was really cheap the the tour was great - Definite must do! Rooms are big and clean, shared bathroom facilities are clean as well. Breakfasts are in the in the hotel next door and it is a good buffet. Would stay here again and would recommend if you are staying a couple of days on Cat Ba island.

First we booked 3 nights in this Hotel. But we really loved this Location, so we stayed 2 more Nights. The rooms are really big and there are big windows! We loved that there was so much light in the room! The room was really clean also! The breakfast was great! You get breakfast at the rooftop so that you have an amazing view! The staff is so friendly and helpful! We booked a boattour for one day at the Hotel and it was amazing! You also can rent a scooter at the hotel for very few money! We were so happy! Thank you!

Breakfast was pancakes buffet with coffe/tea/juice, and an extra dish from the menu. We never had so much food in a hostel since we arrived to Vietnam!! The big mixed dorm had a great amount of space for every person, the beds had the best mattress we have encountered in Vietnam, we also had free extra blankets, towels and big lockers under the beds. The staff was always nice and helpful! We booked a boat tour with them to Halong bay (monkey island, kayaking, etc.) and we were more than satisfied! Also, the motorcycles were in a good state and pretty cheap. We recommend you this place also because you have an astonishing view to the ocean from the dorm window (or wall, since it was all around the dorm)!

Very cheap price-wise, family run, tasty breakfast, nice place (especially for the price). Rooms have a fan, air conditioning, mini fridges, hair dryers, and some have a kettle. Not the cleanest place I stayed in, but in no way dirty. Expect construction sounds if you are visiting in shoulder season (eg November), which is true for most of the city. I would consider coming back, and recommended a friend who was on a tight budget to stay here. If you want a room with a window - make sure to request it, as not all rooms come with windows (just like in most budget hotels in vietnam). There are 5 floors and no elevator - request a lower floor if you need to

We had a wonderful stay here. Easy walking distance to restaurants and bay and ferry terminal to Hai Phong directly across the road. Right next door to Full Moon Party Tours who I highly recommend for day trip to Monkey Island And Ha Long Bay. Have a coffee shop downstairs. Balcony out the front of rooms where you can sit for afternoon drink and watch the lights on the boats and restaurants come on in the bay.

This hotel was really clean and had a great view. It's a little away from the main street but only a short 5-10 minute walk. Wifi worked average, had a/c. Not much hot water from the shower. The staff speaks zero English. When checking out, he tried to have me pay more for the room but I showed him I paid on Agoda. There was a lot of confusion but I refused to pay more. The room was really nice though just don't expect anything from staff.

We only stayed one night after traveling back from Halong Bay. The staff was very welcoming and helpful in every aspect. When we were trying to book bus tickets to Laos, they made sure that we would be out of the country before our visas expired the next day. The room we stayed in is very large and had a huge bed! There is wifi, tv, refrigerator, and a/c in the room that all works very well. Our room was on the sixth floor which is a little bit of a hike up the stairs. However, she gave us an option of two different rooms in case we didn't want to make the walk all the way up. Also, this hostel is right next to all the night life. Which makes going out for dinner or drinks very convenient. It is down a side street so you don't have to worry about loud music or drunken people waking you if you just want a quiet night in. Overall great experience, we would definitely book here again.
