Ben Tre Province hotels & places to stay

We got a good rate for the riverside rooms via Agoda (40€) and had been very happy with it. The rooms were very well furnished, comfy beds and had a fantastic view. Ask for a room with a balcony. We set hours looking onto the nice mekong view, the cargo ships slowly ploughing by. Staff was friendly and Izumi Miyama from Customer Service made our stay special. She offered to brew us a slightly less strong coffee in the morning and we were happy to talk more with her and share our travel experiences. The pool has a very good length and we profited from it 3 times a day. Good noodle soup place (Pho) nearby. The hotel has a restaurant (which we did not use) but also a free shuttle to the night market. Ben Tre is 4 km away, the hotel offers free bicycles (quiet road) or it is a short taxi ride. We recommend the place and would come again. Only recommendatIon to the hotel manager: although we are at Christmas time, please do not play the same X-mas CD from 9 am to 10 pm. Thank you.

What a find! Mekong home is a haven in a remote spot on the Mekong river system. It's run by a family and this is reflected in the warmth and friendliness of the people who work there. The rooms are actually bungalows with their own terrace and hammock. The bungalows are very spacious with bathrooms -all beautifully but simply furnished. The beds are huge and very comfortable :) This place felt like we were off the tourist trail and we were able to explore the local villages with the free bikes which are provided. Mekong home organised a 1/2 day boat trip for us with a local guide. This was BRILLIANT! It was all things coconut - we saw the many local businesses and crafts which use every part of the coconut and was a fascinating insight into this part of the world. The food at Mekong is exquisite and was the best food we had in Vietnam in our 3 week stay (and that's saying something!) This place is perfect for couples or for families for a short stay.

Ham Luong is a nice place to stay. The rooms are pretty big. I've eaten at the restaurant several times now and the food was quite good. Some Western travelers might be put off by the mostly Vietnamese breakfast buffet, though as a Westerner who lives and works in VN and who enjoys VN food, I enjoy it! The coffee tends to be a bit too strong. As a number of other travelers have noted, try to get a Mekong river view on the front of the hotel. It's wonderful to watch the cargo barges drive up and down the river. A cafe on the 3rd floor offers a great view of the river. Music plays till around 10p, but it gets very quiet after that. It's is a great jumping off point if you intend to do a Mekong tour. There's even a tourism office next to the hotel's front gate. My fiancee, who was born in Ben Tre, helped us book a neat little river ride there when my mother visited during Tet. They offer a ton of tour packages. Best wishes!

We spent two nights at the farm stay. While it is a ways from Ben tre, and very secluded, the warmth of the host and most importantly the amazing breakfasts and dinners, made this a highlight of our trip in Vietnam. This place is new and the owner worked very hard to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. She was so nice to us, and I really can't say enough about the amazing home-cooked meals she provided. If you like peaceful surroundings, and good food, this is the place for you.

Its hard to sum up in words how amazing this place is. The room was beautiful with big airy bathroom, and comfortable bed. The place is a small organic farm and you feel as though you are really in nature. If you want to do some fishing in the river then the owner will sort you some fishing rods. The restaurant is reasonable, and the staff are very attentive. The free breakfast is delicious. The owner is one of the nicest men I have ever met and we stayed up one evening talking to him for hours and it was lovely. We were made to feel right at home, and it was the perfect place to relax for a couple of days during our trip around the Mekong. We even extended for a day because we loved it so much!! Could not recommend enough :)

We lived mango home. The kids spent hours inthe pool (pack sunscreen). We had a wonderful time on our tour on bikes and boats around the local town, it was great fun for kids and parents and really appreciated the focus on local livelihoods. The food at the restaraunt was nice and reliable with fantastic breakfasts. Order early to avoid a wait as tours keep the kitchen busy. Once you're at mango home there isn't a great deal of tourist type things to do, but it is great just to ride bikes around the town and to the local market, and watch boat traffic travel up and down the river. Lovely wind down for a couple of days.... we went by bus from HCMC it was easy and fun, comfortable and inexpensive. We emailed mango home and they sent all the instructions - including addresses translations for the bus tickets and transfer to mini bus in Ben Tre. There was a little walk then to mango home which was fun with little luggage but I'm sure they would send a pick up if you asked.

Our room was really large and was facing the river - a lovely view. As a vegetarian it seemed impossible to find something for me to have for dinner, as this part of Ben Tre is not touristy. We didn't realise until we arrived back at the hotel after an unsuccessful scout around that they had a nice, busy restaurant with lots of options. Also good value. The only negative would be that the bathroom seemed slightly grubby and the mat and towel outside the bathroom door were pretty dirty (we've found that to be the case in other places too). All in all I'd recommend if you're touring the Mekong area, be sure to ask for a room with a view!

The homestay is nice and authentic - just in the middle of the jungle. You can rent bikes and kayaks for free. There are also hammocks on the terrace, so you can relax there and listen to the sounds of jungle. Food was good, host's wife will prepare whatever you like. We had difficulties to get into the homestay as we were not able to rent the motorbikes in whole Ben Tre - we asked in several hotels and bike sellers - without success. We had to call a taxi in the end. The host arranged a private boat tour in the canals for us. Although it was little expensive it was nice (brick factory, coconut factory...). I recommend to go.

I have visited Ben tre for the past 4 years and this is the best hotel I ever stay !!! Very new and clean like a 4 star hotel located at Ben tre ! The breakfast wasn't that good but what can I complaint for the price I paid ! I wanted to book a delux room but not available anymore . The superior room is spacious as well but definitely gonna book the delux room for my next year visit !! Well done viet uc and agora ! See u again next Chinese New Year !!

Tito, the woman who owns the guesthouse is lovely, beautiful and willing to help in any way. We loved her. I loved the simple, clean rooms, fresh breakfast made to order and the location away from bust Ben Tre but an easy ride to see the market or get dinner. The location makes it difficult to get food close-by after 7 pm but Ben Tre has many food options. A great place to relax, no local nightlife or noise. Very nice place.

The Jardins du Mekong is located 40kms from Ben Tre, on a small Mekong branch, in the middle of tropical fruits trees (mangos, pinaples, bananas, coconuts and other less known fruits). It has 3 bungalows, very clean and cozy. During the night we could hear the noise of tropical wildlife (birds, frogs..) - very nice! - and the sunrises came with cock singing.. The host is very friendly and the dinners were cooked by the women of the family (mother, sister...). The food is absolutely delicious, and we we even invited to cook some traditional Vietnamese pancakes with the family. The jardins du mekong are surrounded by a network of concrete tracks very easy for bicycling and boat tours are also available. The host helped us to book a public bus to go to Ben Tre on our own and also back to Saigon. Very very nice stay! Highly recommended!!

I booked two nights and ended up staying five. Thai gave a very warm welcome ~ picked me up from the hotel I was staying at in Ben Tre, did everything possible throughout my stay to ensure I was comfortable & happy. His wife is incredible!.. A lovely lady that never stops working and her cooking is devine. Thai is in the business of motorbike tours and will be telling you all about the different tours he offers. He will also tell you about his fascinating life. Accommodations are very basic and not the cleanest ~ but the lovely garden & company make up for what lacks in room comfort. Great experience!

We stayed a couple of nights to break up the journey to Ho Chi Minh and it was perfect for that. Room was a great size and good view from huge window, beds comfortable. Staff did not speak English, although that is more my problem than theirs to be fair. When we asked for food they did not seem to have anywhere to eat and no sign of a restaurant so we had to walk a fair way to find food. Quiet location, would recommend for a night or two.

I took my mom and my helpers there , everyone have a great time, nice resort in town, best for everyone especially older people who looking for nice peace place for vacation , huge land . The staff was nice and helpful . The owner and manager are very friendly to the customer made feel like home. we were there for 4 night , really love the weather there , but in fact that I have to work and I need high speed internet . I cant be there any longer , the internet really bad got disconnect all the time , but guess most people just stay there for hang out relaxing only .

Huy was a fabulous host and private guide. Most memorable part of our trip so far in Vietnam was in Ben Tre with Huy. The accommodations were perfect for our group of 4 in a large family room. Food was amazing and plentiful, cooked up by Huy and his wonderful sisters. The fridge was always full of cold refreshments and be sure to try Aunties rice wine which packed a kick! This a rural homestay and you’ll get that experience in droves through Huy’s tours and at the homestay. We fully recommend.
