Very comfortable mattress and pillow. Nice compartment so everyone has their own private safe and quiet space. But pls bring your own toothbrush, razor and pajamas.

Cool hostel and area”
Highly recommend to everyone! The guests was a mix of young and not so young individuals. Personally, I don’t like the yellow tone lighting in rooms it makes it gloomy. But overall, I will come back to Piece Hostel Sanjo. And a great discovery as a tourist is going to Raffine massage a few minutes walk from hostel. Went there 3 times during my 6-day stay at hostel. Makes you sleep better at night after walking the whole day. 😊

Incredibly helpful and kind staff”
I was highly impressed by this hostel, as it was all around very clean and close to everything. Namely, I would like to give a shout-out to the front desk staff, especially Jenna, who went out of her to help me secure some restaurant reservations. I spent over 100 nights at Marriott hotels last year as a travelling consultant, and I feel that the level of service I got at this hostel far surpasses that of those at the St. Regis. Thanks for making this such a pleasant stay for me.

I'd say one of the best hostel in the area of sanjo. Even though at first we couldn't find it but once we do, we were blown to how does this place is in terms of the concept and design done. Facilities were one of the best, large shower and bathroom, a common area with a bar and a coffee bar and a rooftop lounge. They do have us a travellers map and tips and tricks of getting around Kyoto best spots with cheap bicycle rentals. Definitely will be back here once everything will be fine 👍

Close to the shopping place, bus station. Its easy and convenient to go to many famous place in kyoto. Pla ask the staff for map and directions to go to bus station. The map very helpful and clearly. Room a bit small but nice, clean. Simple breakfast.

Centrally Located Hostel”
Piece Hostel Sanjo is an affordably priced hostel located in the central part of Kyoto with good connections to Osaka via the Hankyu rail network and walkable to major sights within Kyoto like Gion, Nishiki Market and even Heian Jingu and Kiyomizudera. Most buses pass through Shijo-Kawaramachi, Sanjo-Kawaramachi and Shijo-Karasuma, all of which are just a short walk away from the hostel. Thus, the hostel is a really good base to explore Kyoto. Plenty of food options around the area as well. The hostel however is less convenient if you plan to explore cities in the region as with hostels in this part of Kyoto where the vicinity around Kyoto Station is better suited to make multiple trips to Okayama, Himeji, Kobe, Hikone and Kanazawa on JR network. That aside, had comfortable stay here and a really good base for exploring Kyoto and some of the surrounding towns like Uji, Kurama, Ohara, Arashiyama which are connected to the non-JR rail and bus networks.

Central Town Location and Very Comfortable”
Located near Sanjo-dori and Teramachi-dori, the Piece Hostel Sanjo is a very convenient base to explore Kyoto's main sights via the rich bus network or on foot. For a hostel, it is very comfortable and comparable to a good 2-3 star hotel. Breakfast is complimentary, which is a bonus and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is not as good as the Piece Hostel Kyoto if you are planning to use the JR lines frequently and to get to the hostel, it is recommended to take the bus if you are coming from Kyoto Station. If you are coming via Itami Airport or with Hankyu lines, you can alight at Kawaramachi or Shijo Karasuma stations and walk there. Because of its central location, there are plenty of food options!

I've booked Piece Hostel Sanjo because of the good reviews and it was beyond my expectations. The location is perfect, walking distance from KarasumaOike subway station (which is like 3 stations away from Kyoto Station). Walking distance to Nishiki Market, Kawaramachi and Pontocho. I was staying for a week in a 10-bed female dorm, the room was spacious, bed comfortable and big, thick mattress, free towels everyday and there was big lockers in room. The toilets and showers are spotless as they were cleaned regularly, I never have to wait for shower. There was a washing machine for laundry but I din't use it. The breakfast was buffet with selections of dripped coffee, rice with Japanese Curry / Tea Soup / Miso soup (varies everyday), pastries, bread, boiled eggs and mashed potatoes. The kitchen ad lounge area is big, the veranda is lovely. The staff spoke excellent English and are very helpful, always with a smile on their faces. I'll definitely stay here again next time.

Piece hostel Sanjo is amazing, walking distance from Karasuma Oike subway station (exit 5), which are only 3 stations from Kyoto Station. I was staying for one week in a 10-bed female dorm, the bed was spacious and the mattress is decent, free locker in the room, free towel everyday. The complimentary breakfast is like a buffet with a selections of rice (Japanese Curry / Tea Soup / Miso soup), pastries, boiled egg, bread and mashed potato. Toilets and showers are spotless, never have to wait. There is washing machine too for laundry. Staff are very helpful and speak excellent English. This is like hotel standard, definitely staying here next time I'm in Kyoto. Walking distance to Nishiki Market, Kawaramachi and Pontocho too.

Excellent experience staying in Piece Hostel Sanjo. The location of the hostel is super convenient. Though it's not near the subway station, but it's very close to some main bus stops where you can find your way to most of the sightseeing points. Besides, it's just a few minutes' walk from the shopping street, where you can find great food and local shops there. The hostel itself is super nice and tidy. It provides you with most of the things you need. The breakfast provided is just amazing. I enjoyed the potato salad and the curry so much. Just love it! Besides, the bathing area is clean and it provides you with body wash, shampoo and conditioner. You can also wash and dry your clothes in the hostel with a great price. I love planning my itineraries in the common area. The atmosphere is great. The staff there is super friendly and helpful. They helped me a lot. They gave me excellent suggestions for some good food which was amazing. Their help made my stay in Kyoto problem-free. Thank you so much! Highly recommend this hostel and would love to stay here again!

Piece Hostel Sanjo is easily the best hostel I have ever stayed in. I am a solo female traveler and I love the privacy of the 10 bed dorm room (you get your own capsule like bed), and if you want to mingle, just head on down to the kitchen to hang out with fellow travelers. It's also perfectly fine to just sit there by yourself to enjoy a cup of (free) tea/coffee, loads of others are solo travelers too. The bathroom is huge and spacious to have a dry area for changing, shampoo and shower gel all provided. The breakfast is super awesome too! I'm a rice person, so I love their Jap flavored rice and miso soup! I will definitely stay in Piece Hostel again should I go back to Kyoto. Oh, do take note that you have to take a subway 3 stops away from Kyoto station, but totally not a problem for me. It's near to Teramachi shopping arcade and Nishiki market. This place rocks! :)
