Welcoming staff and great scuba”

scuba, beds, location

We were pleased with what we saw upon arrival. We checked in with Anise and she was more than helpful to show us around the hotel at all the hidden wonders. Giovanni and Indra were great with scuba. Me and my friend were not pro divers but just wanting to do a DSD dive. We got training and 2 dives in the Padang Bai area for 105 USD. Not too bad of a price. While we were a little saddened by the not fully stocked menu for dinner--breakfast made up for it. With a german owner that catered to famous people across the UK--it speaks for itself.

Overpriced but amazing staff & food”

Food, staff, location

Padang Bai Beach Resort Pros Fantastic food at La Cananya! Breakfast was made to order eggs, bacon, beans, pancakes plus toast, pastries, fruit and strong-ish hot tea and coffee. Best vegetable spring rolls that I've ever had!!! Also, yes the best pizza in Bali. Lovely, lovely swimming pool. Great bar with partial views of the harbour. Great staff - a particular mention here to Anis, who was the most helpful concierge and went out of her way for us on numerous occasions during our short stay. We had left something behind somewhere four hours away and she arranged its collection for a decent price and helped us with activities and drivers. An absolute star and asset to the resort. Mozzie net and electric mozzie repellent - yes! TV (from the 80s) - didn't turn it on but presume it works. Small safe but attached to wardrobe so safe. Cons "Partial sea view" as a description for the rooms is really overstating it - your own little porch on the second level would better describe it. Pretty overpriced for what it is. Walls so thin/uninsulated you can hear every word of your neighbours. Ferries blasting horns all night long (presume this affects everyone on the bay but, as above, rooms not well insulated so makes it worse). Roosters crowing/dogs howling (same everywhere in Bali but as above re insulation). Bathroom smells bad - they supply an auto air freshener in there so must be aware.

Nice rooms, clean and affordable”

Rooms, friendly staff, nice pool and breakfast

We stayed at this hotel 1 night for speed boat transfer to Gili Trawangan by Bluewater Express. The harbour ist less than 5 minutes from this hotel. The rooms are lovely decorated and the bathroom is for indonesian conditions quite nice. The brekfast was great with fresh fruits, omelette, pancakes, donuts and bread. Connected to the hotel is a shop with diving and snorkeling equipment and a very well known diving school directly at the Padang Bai harbour beach. The perfect hotel for diving fanatics. We recommend to not use the offered hotel transfer. 40$ ist quite expensive as the normal transfer from Denpasar costs 350.000 Rupiah (less if you negotiate!!). All in all the perfect choice for an overnight stay.

Great place to stay while diving”

Clean, well maintained grounds, private balcony

stayed here for three days in october, 2012 and did some scuba diving as well. not much else to do in candidasa. the room was quite nice, with a comfortable bed, aircon and hot water. i had a garden view room, with a private balcony. the hotel staff and the dive masters were very friendly and it was great to be able to hang out with other divers at night in the restaurant over pizza and beers after a day of diving. free buffet breakfast was decent and a nice way to start the day. wi-fi was a bit dodgy.

Fun and Delightful”

food, staff, location

What a fun and delightful place to stay. The hotel itself is fine—nothing special, no big complaints. But the atmosphere, the staff, the other patrons, & the food, were all wonderful. The Padang Bai Beach Resort is set up for divers and while we were just snorkeling and relaxing on this stay, we talked a bit to the dive staff and looked at the facilities. The staff was knowledgeable and the entire program seemed well organized. The food was wonderful—both Indonesian and other cuisines. But the highlights were: the bar, the wood fired pizza oven and Giovanni, the manager and the rest of the staff. The bar was lively and fun and filled with friendly travelers from around the world. Drinks were delicious and included: creative use of local ingredients, modern mixes, and old standards as well old “not so standards”. Giovanni was knowledgeable, entertaining, and caring toward both patrons and staff. The pizza was delicious with toppings of both local ingredients as well as more traditional choices. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Food food Food!

Great little hotel in Pangdang Bai. The food was absolutely outstanding. It is a great place to stay if you want to go diving or are in transit to the islands. It is a close walk to Blue Lagoon. A little bit pricey for Bali, but it was worth it!

Nice Room, unexpected”

The pool was nice, great location, close to the beach, dive shop, perfect for a diver on holiday if Padang Bai is your thing

I was delightfully surprised by the accommodations considering I got a last minute deal that morning and was expecting something of far lesser quality. Very close to the Fast Boat dock which made leaving for Gili T very convenient. Although I had expected more of Padang Bai, I was certainly expecting less of the resort.

Lovely hotel a few feet from the beach!”

It was so close to the beach, good value for money, amazing location

We had a great stay at Padang Bai beach resort, as it was a diving hotel the pool was lovely and deep for the first stages of learning to dive. The location was perfect as it was a few feet from the beach and only 5 minutes walk from the "Bloo lagoon" beach which is incredible beautiful beach for snorkelling and general relaxing. The hotel itself was pretty with flowers and a nice pond. We had a upstairs double with a balcony which was so nice for relaxing on in the early evening whilst it was still hot, also very handy to dry wet swimsuits! all in all a very nice hotel and good value for money, we ended up staying an extra night!

Great location for diving but not much else”

decent pool and bar, very friendly staff

a convenient place to stay if you're diving at padang bai since the hotel is literally right next to most of the major dive centres in the area (it's partnered with absolute scuba, and geko dive is next door). rooms are decent, if not exactly pretty. sheets are clean, and everything in the bathroom works. if i had one complain, it would be that the breakfast options were all quite tasteless (although the bread is freshly made and nice).

spotless room, staff very helpful and professional, guidebook if hotel and area also useful, english speakibg tv channels

i was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room. i had stayed in more expensive rooms which smelt and had stained sheets so pad and bai beach resort was a big improvement. also others had tvs but no english speaking channels. the bottle opener and guidebook of the area and hotel were great and saved questions. the towels and linen were clean and smelt great. staff were very professional when it came to diving. the only problem i had was with the air not working and was quickly given another room. i would recommend this place to others.

Not much in Padang Bai but everything you need is in this hotel! Well organised and worth the money. One plus would be a kettle in the room - staff did give us early morning (5am) hot water for our wake-up coffee but a kettle would be a plus.

Best 3 star resort”

Diving, food, location

A genuine 3 Star resort, but it really exceeded our expectations in many areas. Food was 4 star at reasonable prices, dive staff were great, rooms genuine 3 star with thin news (listened to an interesting but unintelligent yelling match for an hour or two from a German family next door, partial sea views were actually described, ferry noise was a nuisance (24 hours) but bearable, spa was nice, convenient dive sites without a long transit - great for beginners, management (especially Olivier) were outstanding. Friendly happy & obliging staff. When our air con broke down we were moved to another room for the night, no trouble. Good buffet breakfast. Small on site spa offers good treatments.

Wonderful start to our 19 day holiday, definitely will go back. Affordable, quiet, relaxed, friendly, happy & comfortable. Would be good if the spa could be in a quieter position further from the bar & road. Easy walk to everywhere in pretty Padang Bai, Bloo Lagoon & the White Sand beach both lovely to spend the day on.

Good value hotel in great location”

Great location,good value and

After initially having an issue with the first room offered the staff upgraded us to a garden villa which we were happy with. This had a nice outdoor shower as per bali style and was surrounded by a very nice garden. The principle attraction of this hotel is the excellent location right in the middle of Padang Bai beach close to shops and the ferry. The only issue we had was the completely crap food and service served at the Buddha bar and restaurant which is attached to the hotel. Avoid that and everything is good.

front desk staff were very nice and helped us out when we had reservation issues. garden room is on the first floor, large clean modern pom with very comfortable beds. room has tv and a refrigerator. shower was very nice but we couldn't get hot water to work well. room was too dark to read. rooms on the second floor have more light and a small balcony with the views of the bay and restaurant. breakfast is included with price - we did not like ours, it was always either overcooked or undercooked. we took a diving class with absolute scuba, located at the hotel. vintty is a very good instructor and we would highly recommend her to anyone learning how to dive.
