Fantastic guesthouse in a peaceful environment”
This is my second time staying at Mercury Guesthouse: a true diamond in the city! The staff are excellent and keep the place clean & very tidy. Thia (Reception manager) is lovely to talk with & will help you. The guesthouse is set in a traditional Javan house. The garden is away from the road: quiet, green & peaceful. I don't need air-conditioning. The room stays cool. Breakfast is excellent. Wifi is good. Atmosphere is terrific! Khaled Alan, London UK.

A wonderful quiet guesthouse with great staff”
Mercury Guesthouse is set in a traditional Javan house. There is a quiet well-kept garden with a fish pond to add to the tranquility. I enjoyed each day at this guesthouse. The pool next door is good for simple swimming, and the free nasi goreng breakfast is delicious. Thia, the manager, is courteous & kind. She went out of her way to make me feel comfortable. Thank you Thia! I certainly recommend this guesthouse. Cons: wifi was weak. But it's always better to buy a SIM card anyway :)

Basic hotel outside of citycenter”
We enjoyed our stay at Mercury Guest House. The rooms are basic but were clean, the breakfast was nice (choose between western and indonesian breakfast at the buffet). Lunch packs for the sunrise tours. Staff was very friendly and helpful, we booked everything at the hotel (unfortunately we found out later that all tours are cheaper available in citycenter)

Cheapest and worthiest”
Hot shower inside the room, breakfast with ftuites, rice and toasts with coffee in the center of Yogyakarta I think is already more than enough for their cheap price. After this I closed my eyes on dirty old room wich need to be improve its appearance. By the way they cleaned it perfectly immediately when I asked for room clean. Also staff is very friendly, really helpful and have a good sense of humour. I enjoyed socializing with em. Recommend

Very Recommended for on Budget Trip”
Everything so good here. Nice breakfast, nice staff, decoration of the guest house are all good with good view, relax place, near to the market and bar, good price, pool, and free refill mineral water. but not include with towel and aminities but its OK.

Best guest house I've ever stayed”
The affordable prices caught my eyes first. At first, I don't really expect for a good facility, etc, etc ... In fact I was pretty scared I'd be declined (because I read some bad reviews some days ago, but it was like 2013 review?) But, no! The humble and nice staffs were welcome us. The good view, the facilities, breakfast, even a pool are there! (too bad I can't swim in because I got fever) I'd definitely come back if I'm going to have a trip to Jogja again 💕

A basic guesthouse in a good location”
While I have stayed here many times, it is really only the price and the pool that bring me back. But at over 200k even the price is marginal. The a/c room I stayed in could not be more basic, and while not a big issue, I had no hot water the 10 days I stayed. The pool is not big but is well maintained. Breakfast is at best, very basic, with some fruit, nasi and bread. Omelettes are available at 2000rph. Bring your own coffee! If you are looking for a cheaper option in a good location then Mercury will be fine. If you want some pampering go elsewhere!

A budget hotel in a good location”
I have stayed at Mercury many times. For a very basic room with a/c the agoda rate I paid was IDR 197K. I feel it is a little over priced at this rate. Previous walk in rate was IDR 100K! The room is very basic and would only suit budget travellers. Breakfast in basic Nasi and a small selection of cut fruit. Omelettes can be ordered as an extra at 5000k each. The only reason I stay here is for the swimming pool, which is a reasonable length and well maintained. The location is great, with lots of little bars and Restos in the area. I would stay here again, but would negotiate a better room rate!

i have been here the last 15 years. several times”
In the beginning it was one of the most famous authentic backpackers places. those people do not exist a more in that amount as then nowadays in Indo. About 5 years ago I noticed it wasn't my place anymore. stayed away for 3 years and tried it again, ik also had read the comments, the last year. Stayed there now 3 times and I must say : Things have changed, it is still not perfect but You get What you pay. New staff, "clean" rooms but the atmosphere from Years ago is still there. the walk through to there next hotel Wisma Gajah with small swimming pool, pleasant garden and good breakfast is so luvely quitet in the middle of Yogya. especially backpackers and travellers alone Mercury has deserved a New Change. meet you some day there Paulus

Best 1-Star Guest House in a town!”
It's the best guest house i've ever visited. Affordable prize with two beds, bathroom inside, and single fan and breakfast included. However, the room will be so much cozy if the staff keep all the things tidy and clean. Cherio!!

A nice place - a big room hot and cold water - also for drinking A nice park and acces to the swimming pool With a little effort you can walk to the center and the sultan palace I find value for money ( a snake in the paradis : they were out of towels )

Nice for the price. ”
Free breakfast which is basic but surprised to get anything for this price. Great room with a nice view and good privacy. Wi-Fi didn't work in the room but again..its cheap!

Cheap, awesome location.”
Room is old school Indonesia. Dilapidated, but somewhat functional. Attached bathroom in typical state of disrepair. However, for $7 it's fantastic value. Swimming pool, pagodas, and large cool chill out areas, oh and a free fried rice breakfast.

Nice Hotel but far from the city”
This is a very nice hotel, and very comfortable. Our shower wasn't perfect (a bit broken). It's a bit far from the city and they were not able to find any taxi... Good breakfast and nice staff

Cheap, good tour to Borobudur”
This place served a purpose for us, very affordable, with an average breakfast buffet included! If the breakfast was better, then I would highly recommend this place! The tour we arranged through the hotel was great! If your looking for a cheap place to stay for a couple of nights this place is fine!if you want somewhere close to the city, then look elsewhere!

Cheap acomodation, the room is hot and toilet not good smell, but is cheap , the breakfast is just 2 toast.... and buffet of tea , coffee and fruits , but the fruits don’t look good to eat. You can use the pool that is the other hotel but the same owner. The building is beautiful, and in the day time a girl that speak good english , in the night a guy that can understand a little bit

Poor Facilities ”
For fan room, the one and only plug used for the stand fan. So no other electrical plug for fon charging. I ask to change room with two electrical plug,lucky me there is one and only at the back!

Love the location, javanese design on common place and hot water, not too noisy but near to ATM, local market, and convenience store. Too far to go to the central city by walk, but still worth it for me.
