I heard that the distribution of amenities will be discontinued in Taiwan from January 1, 2025, and many hotels have already implemented this, so there were no amenities here either. I stayed for three nights without cleaning, and if I wanted it, it would cost 100 yuan for towels, which were 50 yuan. Even in a single room, two sets were prepared, and since I managed with the two sets, I didn’t request any extras. Although it was a single room, it was quite spacious, and since there was no cleaning, I could come and go as I pleased with my luggage spread out. The large lounge could be used freely, and I could enjoy two types of tea bags, instant coffee, several kinds of cup noodles, snacks, Coca-Cola, Sprite, and iced tea at any time. In the evening, there was also a service of red bean soup. This red bean soup, which is a less sweet version of azuki, was very comforting and I think it was a great service. Additionally, there were three bicycles available for guests to borrow for free. However, I had to leave my passport each time in exchange, but since no one else was using them, there were always three bikes at the entrance, and I borrowed one every day. It was just over 2 kilometers from Hualien Station, so I used the bus; although the bus stop was very close, on the way back, my scheduled bus didn’t arrive at all, so I called a taxi and had a pleasant chat with a driver who was fluent in Japanese, which cost 125 yuan to Hualien Station. All the staff were very friendly, and there were even some who spoke Japanese, providing excellent hospitality. Unfortunately, since my room was on the sixth floor, possibly due to it being Saturday, there was loud noise from outside on the first night, and in the morning, I could hear the voices of other guests in the hallway, so the soundproofing was terrible, and it felt quite noisy. Additionally, the drainage in the shower room was so poor that it became like a pool. I figured the hotel must be aware of this, so I tolerated it, but it was unbelievably bad. Excluding the issue with the shower room, I think it was overall good value for money. The location was also excellent.
