Well run accoms in a slightly wooded area. Lovely rustic traditional feel. Owner fluent and helpful with lots of ideas around the area. Including a hike to the famous falls. Sad to have to leave!
When I stayed, I shared a room with people from other countries (since it was a dormitory). However, it was fun and I didn't feel particularly nervous, as it felt like sharing a room. The reservation and request emails come in English, so if you translate and read them carefully, you'll find that it says, "If you wish to use the parking lot, please make a reservation in advance" and "Please let us know as soon as you know your check-in time," so those coming by car should take note!
The best backpacker I've stayed, cozy wooden building from Taisho period, super cool owner. I joined the campfire and had a wonderful time talking about stuffs. Definitely getting back if I visit Karuizawa again.
It was great to be in a place surrounded by nature, close to the Highland Church and the Harunire Terrace! I also ordered breakfast, which was nicely plated. I debated whether to eat on the veranda or in the outdoor square, but I ended up eating on a bench outside! Having breakfast enveloped by nature was wonderful.

“A traditional guesthouse in nature!”
I stayed overnight in a dormitory room when I visited Karuizawa by motorcycle. There are hot springs and restaurants within walking distance. The guesthouse also offers dinner and breakfast by reservation. These looked really delicious (but I couldn't eat due to time constraints...). The dormitory room, toilets, and shower rooms were all clean and comfortable. They sell original hand towels and T-shirts, and I bought a hand-sewn one. The parking lot is gravel, so those on motorcycles should be cautious.
