Beautiful hotel in a great location, with a very attentive and kind staff.”
I had some difficulty with the website, and ended up making a mistake with my reservation. The staff was very helpful and rectified the situation. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I was able to see the bamboo grove in Arashiyama, and had made a reservation well in advance to go to Saihoji (Kokedera). The area is beautiful. I would definitely recommend staying at Japaning Hotel LiV Ranroukaku, and hope I'll be able to stay there again in the future.

Lots of space, beautiful view, perfect location, but easy on the budget”
It’s hard to find good hotels at this price. We wanted a chill overnight stay in Arashiyama, after all the walking and sightseeing/food tripping we did in Kyoto and Osaka. This room was perfect for that — we had a huge living space, huge room, huge bathroom (with a jacuzzi/tub), and a very beautiful and peaceful view of the river. Right at the heart of Arashiyama with a view of the Katsura river, a 2-5min walk to nearby bus stops and train stations, 2-min walk to the monkey park, 5-min walk to the bamboo forest, but away from the crowds of tourists. A perfect cap to end our Kansai trip :) Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Check in was supposed to be at 4pm, but they accepted our early check in when we arrived before 1pm. We were also able to leave our bags the next day after our check out, so we could still roam around the area. Bento breakfast was so-so (would’ve preferred a more traditional home-cooked teishoku), but it was all good and worth it :)

Very large room with nice view”
The hotel is definitely value for money. The room is very large and the ambience is really the traditional Japanese. We checked in late about 10 pm and the staff still welcome us. I really recommend if you want to experience the traditional Japanese custom. The room also very large, is very difference with other hotel in Japan. If you want to spend whole day in the hotel, I would recommend it. However the nearest transport is by using bus no. 28 from Kyoto station. If you use the train, it would be quite far from Saga Arashiyama station. There are several point of interest nearby. Some temple, monkey forest, or even the Togetsu Bridge itself is having nice view. Overall, it is the best hotel during our 7 days stay in Japan.

One night was simply not enough”
For the price and the location, this place was a steal! You'd better book this fast before it gets popular and the prices sky rocket! The rooms available on Agoda were for the suite-style rooms. Apparently there are normal rooms there, but not posted on Agoda for booking. The suite style rooms were out of the world, considering the prices of ryokan in the area. The hotel itself did not have much in terms of facilities, but the room made up for itself! Service at the accomodation was good, though they did not know much english. Staff were friendly and smiling and went out of their way to show superb Japanese hospitality... Definitely one of the best finds for my Japan trip!

Dear Reza, thank you for your review. PLease come back again!
Very kind staff!”
I stayed this hotel for two days on early March. In spite of a little bit of high charge, I've booked this hotel for beautiful view and I was extremely satisfied with that. In addition to the view, I was very moved by kindness of staff. Since I could not speak Japanese well, so I used a google translator and asked if I could change my room into another room with better one. The staff, nevertheless, treated me very kindly and made my room changed with smile. However, little bit cold room and a fridge with too much strong (so foods in the fridge were frozen) made me disappointed T_T. I hope I can visit Arashiyama and this hotel sooner or later.

Dear Jiyoung, thank you for your review, we are happy that you enjoyed your stay. Apologies for the fridge, I hope the staff could solve your problems.
Best value for money. ”
It’s the kind of hotel that you’ve to leave your shoes at the reception. Very friendly, helpful and understanding. Helped with my luggage transfer. Gave me facial product samples to use for the day when the luggage carrying all my things only arrived the next day. My room was huge, all it needs is a kitchen and laundry area for me to feel like home. The hotel also has an outdoor bath. Location wise, it’s about 5 mins walk to the main busy area, I prefer this way. It’s also around 5 mins walk from the Arashiyama station.

Amazing Experience”
The hotel is located at a very nice location to explore around Arashiyama. The room was lovely, not only comfortable but it has a relaxing river view. The breakfast is not cooked by the hotel, yet it is still very nicely prepared and with different style everyday. Also, the staff are all very helpful. Highly recommended this hotel.

Very great accommodation in Arashiyama”
We visited Kyoto during fall foliage and this accommodation makes my trip in Japan memorable. The room itself is so big, very cosy, and clean. Staffs are very helpful and friendly. Also, view from our room is so good. We can see river and beautiful mountains from our balcony. The only disadvantage of this accommodation is location. It is far from public transports ( JR station). The accommodation also has a bus, but it was out of order, so they could not pick us up at and send us to the train station.

Thank you very much for your stay and your comment. Also,we are sorry for the shuttle bus which was out of order. We improve our property and service for all our guests day by day. We look forward to see you again.
Fantastic location, great staff service”
The rooms were huge by Japan standards, and very well located. A short stroll to the bridge and all other attractions. We enjoyed the great service by the hotel staff as well. They could not speak English but tried their very best with translation apps to communicate with us. We tried also their breakfast bento - nothing too special if you have already been in Japan for awhile, but for newcomers this can be quite interesting.

warm home feeling and friendly service”
the place is a bit out of the town area and no elevator in the hotel. but there is quiet and convenience and the staff is very friendly and willing to help. but midnight there are no staff in the hotel is a bit issue when we faced the heater problem. we celebrate our mom birthday in arashiyama. they help us to order sushi delivery and book taxi. we will consider this hotel again.

Exceptional”
We are an extended family of 13 pax with older kids and elderly parents. Highly recommended, the location is excellent and walking distance to most places of interest in Arashiyama. The rooms are clean and the river view rooms has an amazing view. They have a nice spacious hot bath with a outdoor bath which we used them twice daily. Special mention on the outstanding services from the staff. Although the ladies couldn't speak English, they provide their warmest service with their heart which we are very appreciative of. They helped us with the many reservations we needed for our tour bookings and restaurant reservations. Best service. Thank you, we will definitely stay here again.

Great scenery and fantastic service”
The river view from our rooms was just stunning. This hotel is also very close to the river and the famous bamboo garden is within reach. What makes this hotel stand out is their staff. I know good service can be expected everywhere in Japan but the staff at this hotel are exceptionally service-minded and very helpful.

Amazing view”
Everything was so great here. Highly recommend this hotel! It’s tucked in a quiet neighbourhood near Togetsu-bridge in Arashiyama, so it is close to the bamboo forest. The view was amazing. Staffs were great and very very helpful. This hotel come with own hot spa too.

Traditional Japanese experience with Western bed”
This hotel is well worth the price, especially for the space, roughly 6 rooms in total counting all the small ones: tub/shower, entry way, toilet closet, sink room, large Japanese style dining area, large bedroom with two double mattresses pushed together. The view is magnificent: river and mountains. We had a rainbow on our last morning. The staff were so super friendly, even when our heater did not work. They supplied us with a space heater and we were fine. That’s why I gave only 4* on the facilities. Shoes off at the door; slippers and robes in the room. This hotel surpassed our expectations. We would definitely return.

Comfortable Place For Relaxation”
Walking distant to all the tourist places as we can save our travelling time and relax in this hotel. Nice breakfast were served and the staff were very helpful. One thing bad in Kyoto is you must have early lunch so that when comes to 5 pm you can have your dinner earlier because most of the restaurants will be closed after 6 pm. We will choose this hotel if we happen to visit this place again.

Exceptional”
Loved this accommodation in Arashiyama. The location was very close to the Togetsukyo Bridge, the shops, restaurants, and walkable to the temples and bamboo forest. Perfect for momiji viewing! Just check out the bed when you first arrive to see if it is too hard - then ask for a mattress pad. The staff is very accommodating!

Excellent Location & Service”
The room is out of expected large with living room and bedroom separately. Very comfortable and spacious room. The hotel location is just near the bridge so that there is a river view for the room. The hotel is close to several hotels with daily rental onsen, so if you don't like small onsen at the hotel, you may go to other onsen hostel/ hotel for only 15 mins. This hotel is good for family group with children.

Good location”
The location is very close to Arashiyama Street. Its around 1km walking distance from Saga Arashiyama station. If you reach Saga Arashiyama late night, recommend to take taxi. There is bus that able to go Arashiyama from Kyoto Station, we took that from Arashiyama street to Kyoto Station. The Good part is the location and the room is spacious. The not so satisfy part is the bed is hard and the aircond noise is quite strong, and the ceiling is with some black stain. The onsen is same with bath water from the hotel room bathroon, nothing too wow to shout about. For the price of the stay, its still consider a good deal and satisfactory stay.
