Hsincheng Township hotels & places to stay

Solo traveler this time round. Reached before the check-in time but counter allowed to check-in first and leave luggage one side first. As I have yet to eat my lunch when I reached, I asked the counter whether there is any recommended food around. She just think for quite a long while and said "there is a convenience stall nearby or maybe you could try to turn left and see if the food stall is open.". OMG! From all my stays in various countries, this is the first time a hotel/hostel staff told me this answer. Most of the time, they should be familiar with the stores around the hotel/hostel, isn't it? Even if the place has not much food or no food, you could say nearby has no available food but you could travel to XXX and more food options. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise since I found a restaurant within 5-7mins walk away and it was really awesome food! Apart from subpar service, the room view is fantastic!! You can see the sunrise from your room! Breakfast is subpar too.

Simply put, I have nothing but the best praise and satisfaction in choosing this hotel as the base for exploring Taroko Gorge! First, the hotel is only 2kms from the entrance of the gorge. The bus stop right in front the hotel is for the bus service of the entire gorge, so if you want to visit the gorge on your own, just hop on the bus! Second, the staffs there were super nice. They went out of their way to address any concern or questions or helps that you need! The entire reception and concierge staffs were like that-helpful, genuine, courteous. Third, the room was nice and very clean. The wood panel throughout the entire room was made from some Japaneses scented wood so the room was naturally scented with fresh woody scent! Last the room rate was very reasonable for the area. It's the best hotel!

The landlord has his own construction company, the massion is design and constructed by themselves, you can see the building is built for heavy wind and earthquakes. Inside decorating are all from Italy stone and wood, paintings. All people are very nice and happy, they supply local popular rice bun snacks, teas, and coffees all days, have refrigerator with beer , juice , peanut milk, fresh milk, red beans with rice congee. Even have red / white wine supplied and noodles, vegetables,frozen seafood meat in ketch in case you missed your dinner so you can cook light dinner by yourself. I just have two great days there, lying down on the big stone on beach or on their top ceiling wood roof, watching stars , hearing the sea voice and drinking bear with snacks, black hair pork sausage, rice sausage. Landlord is generous, their are very humble with sweet heart. I had long talk with her and her sister sitting at bar tables for my gorgeous breakfast. They did great job, nice to meet them .

Having a hard time understanding the more negative reviews...this hotel is affordably priced, clean, with brand new facilities and professional service. You can't beat the location: right next to the Xincheng station, which makes it super easy to get going and see Taroko in the morning. Our room didn't have a window, which was a little offputting, but we were fine with it, and I suppose if that were a problem for you, you could make sure to reserve a room with a window.

It was an amazing experience to wake up and open the sheds to see the beautiful Pacific Ocean on the east side of Taiwan. Very nice big bed and comfy mattress. The only downside is the shower is next to the toilet, so need to be careful to get into the toilet after shower. Also wasn’t a best choice to travel with little kids since there’s no kids entertainment facility.

The minsu is within walking distance to the QiXingTai Beach. The air there is very fresh, full of natural ions. We were upgraded to a larger spacious room. The room is clean & hs all necessary amenities esp a regular water dispenser for both hot & cold water. The boss Mr Chou is very knowledgeable of the local favourites & popular. He is helpful to recommend where to eat & tour in the county. As we travelled free & easy on our own, Mr Chou gave a lot of good advice on how to travel around & the intriguing way to book their express trains. Xiao Sang the staff there is also very warm & helpful. He was willing to change our breakfast menu when we told him to. However, as the place is at the outskirt, one may need to hire a cab or rent own transport to move around easily. Overall, the minsu is an ideal place to unwind from city life.

The staff here are sweet and helpful. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and accommodated. We were expecting to walk and use the bus to the National Park (which is doable, but requires some planning) but the staff here gave us rides and even let us stop for snacks! They provided us with breakfast too. I can’t stress how great of a stay it was. The facilities are sparkling clean and well-kept. I would absolutely stay again and recommend it for any kind of traveler. (And FYI - there’s a noodle and dumpling stand/shop a short walk away into town, on the main road, and it was the best meal for the best value we had in Taiwan.)

There are no staff on location, but when you call they are there quickly (associated with large hotel nearby). A/C, water pressure, internet all good. They arrived as promised the next day to transfer us to a nearby location to store our luggage when we went to Taroko Gorge. The street address is new so doesn't come up on Google maps although hotel name does appear. You must search Renai Rd, Lane 3 to find it. Where the lane curves and joins Zhongzheng Rd is where name changes to Zhongzheng Rd., Lane 98. It is signed on the main road.

WM&S Hostel is brand new. We happened to be the only guests in the 8-bed dorm during our 1-night stay. Everything was clean and well presented. Lockers are roomy. Bedding is comfortable but mattresses are unexpectedly hard. A waste bin would have not been out of place. We liked the strong hot shower. Breakfast was unexpectedly generous. The price was right. Finding the place (driving) proved to be a bit tricky. We were literally in front of the place and didn't recognize the hostel due to a lack of signage. Staff was super friendly. If some more polishing is done on the details it will be almost as could as it could be.

This was one of the best experiences I've ever had in a homestay. Sulan (the host) was incredible and made us feel so welcomed. She picked us up and dropped us off at the local train station whenever we needed and even dropped us off at a place for dinner. Her breakfasts were amazing and filled us up! The rooms are also so clean, modern, and spacious! The bathroom is all modern as well. It was incredibly comfortable and relaxing. She also let us borrow her bikes. I would definitely recommend staying here especially if you want to stay somewhere closer to Taroko Gorge and experience a more quiet trip vs. staying in Hualien. We also took one day to walk around Hualien which was only a 15 min train ride. LOVED IT!!

The only complaint I have is how dingy the place seemed compared to other hostels / hotels in Taiwan. It was not terrible, but needs improvement. All beds were hard and were lain on what seemed like plywood. My brother and I had a room to ourselves on our visit (no one else there), and there were lockers available for smaller backpacks and items. The hostel aura is strong within this one. The redeeming quality is the staff. The young clerk was very helpful, and she knew English fairly well. This is a small place with one staff, so don't expect much, but I chose it for its proximity to Taroko.

Initially booked a night here but after checking in, decided to stay another night for so many reasons. Location is super convenient as its only within 3minutes of walking distance to Seven Star Beach, and it is located right next to Family Mart that opens 24/7. The interior of the hostel is also funky and many of the DIY furnitures and spaces is a fun thing to appreciate. Absolutely love the whole environment of this place as it is so much more laid back and relax, perfect for those who wish to escape from urban city buzz. Staff is also super friendly and makes you feel right at home. Le-le (the host) even went over and beyond in assisting me with all my travel plans in Hua Lien. Definitely left that place with a heavy heart.

Remember to ask for towels! Beautiful property lots of trees and plants and it all kinda feels like a really cool tree house. Right across the street from beach. Breakfast was the best we have had in Taiwan hands down. You will want your own transportation if you stay here and luckily we were able to rent a motorbike without international license. Beautiful, relaxing spot. We wish we had stayed one more night.

Place to rest & relax with great hospitality ~10mins taxi ride from Xincheng station. We were pleased to see Mountain view behind the homestay. Place is managed by family of 4, they are very nice & try their very best to suit our needs. Place has 3 storey but they do have a luggage lift to assist! Our room is on the 2nd floor, spacious & clean! We were told the beds are special order,so comfy. Am impressed with bathroom facilities: -set to warmer temp (prevent catching cold after shower) -purify air after intestine clearance -Japan style toilet seat warmer Personally we preferred Chinese breakfast, but I really loved the Western balanced meal being served: nicely done sandwiches with organic veggies, soup and fruits, all fresh, not oily & tasty! Thanks for the red bean soup & complimentary fruits As we’re not driving, the host offered to send us nearby for meal. There is a ‘harmless’ black dog roaming around. Overall an enjoyable stay, highly recommended!!

The Owner is so friendly and lovely and helpful, she drove us to the train station twice, had lots of recommendations for things to do in the area, spoke just enough English words for us to work each other out. If you are visiting Taroko Gorge or going whale watching or in Hualien for any other reason this is a great place to stay, there are a couple ofnice restaurants at varying prices and a beautiful shingle beach to walk on (No swimming due to currents and predatory fish). You are a few km from the train station but the owner will drive you or you can pay 200NTD for a taxi. Taroko Gorge is only a couple of stops (10mins) on the train and you can just hop on a train without booking.

I am Taiwanese, I found this guest house randomly when I was walking around the beach. the intention to stay here was due to I join Taroko Marathon event therefore would like to stay in a convenient place and get relax. there are 10~20 guest houses near by Taroko station but most of them are shabby old. the Windfly guest house has a new and clean building, the furniture are real materials which you can easily to identify. houseowners are friendly and willing to chat, especially the breakfast is awesome! it made good CP value for me to stay here. one thing that deeply impressed me is the houseowner reject the tours from China in order to keep the high service quality for local and for foreign traveler.

This is the second time we decided to stay at 後山圓夢 Bed&Breakfast, located just next to a Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation, the house is just wonderful, the window next to the bed has a huge mountain view and an organic farm every morning we see monks working in there, very meditative. besides all these goods, the host, Ｍr. Zhu and Mrs. Wong they are very very helpful and caring, and their family as well. Been visiting Hualien often, think we will keep coming to stay here at 後山圓夢/

Cons : The place is about 1.1 km from xincheng train station so we can easily walk there or u can grab a taxi for 100 Taiwan dolllar (~$3). Locating the exact location better use the address than google map from agoda. We got lost but the host came and pick us up. Pros : The room is pretty big and look even better than in the photo. The house is very nice and quiet. The room is very clean and comfortable. The bathroom is big with good shower pressure. Free use of washing machine in a common area for guest. Free coffee and tea. We have different breakfast everyday. we even asked for vietnamese coffee. After the host know we love seafood, she prepared hotpot for us for dinner. Her cooking is so good. Even though they couldnot speak english , they try their best to cater to our need. He even drove us to taroko park. We have such a wonderful stay that we extend another day (3 nites). We r sure to go back again. Highly recommend if u like quiet area.
