Outstanding hotel in a prime area”
I have stayed in the Gion district before, but I found that this hotel set a new standard of excellence all around. The convenient shuttle from Kyoto JR makes it easy to get back and forth but the walk is lovely through the Mion area, especially in the evening (and definitely safe despite what might appear to be dark streets!!!) It is also a short walk through the temple grounds (also very safe at night) to Shinjokaramachi where many restaurants, shops, buses and the subway are located. The hotel itself was stunningly beautiful, and each door seemed to reveal yet another surprise, always elegant, quiet and superbly staffed and maintained. The rooms were beautiful, with comfortable beds and pillows, quiet, and well appointed with the usual conveniences. The hotel ofuro was well maintained, comfortable and relaxing. The staff was outstanding, helpful, discreet, and well trained. This is an outstanding hotel and I look forward to returning soon.

Everything is perfect ”
One of my favorite hotels. The hotel is new, modern and clean. The mattress and bedding are very comfortable. They are also very considerate by providing 2 slippers-one for bedroom, the other for going to public spa, as well as 2 bathrobes. The location is excellent. 10 minutes walk to Kiyomizu-dera temple. 2 minutes walk to Hanamikoji Street. Very close to downtown and restaurants. The public spa is very clean and comfortable. They also have free shuttle runs between the hotel and Kyoto station every one hour. The staff was helpful and nice. I can't think of anything I didn't like. I will definitely stay at Celestine again the next time I visit Kyoto.

Fantastic ”
We were traveling as a family of 4 (kids at 5 and 8). We normally stick to ‘family friendly’ type of hotels (and we did for all the others) but we chose this hotel as it was my husband’s birthday. Service, staff, facilities, everything was exceptional. We opted to go out for dinner as we didn’t see fit to take our young children to their restaurant for kaiseki dinner, but it is a nice short stroll through the temple and then Gion area to the main street for some food options or back at Kyoto station has a huge variety. They have a very well maintained public bath which we all relaxed in after a long day of traveling. The small string pouch and furoshiki offered were a nice touch and greatly appreciated as souvenirs. We enjoyed our beautiful buffet breakfast at the hotel restaurant. There are plenty of options to choose from, Japanese and western, but I highly recommend you try the selections surrounding the chef. Overall a wonderful stay!

Hotel is one of the best i ever stay in. For the price i paid, you get excellent service and quality room and hotel amenities as well. I use the hot bath every night and it was clean and well maintain too. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a hotel in kyoto and would def visit this again!

Wonderful customer service! Can’t thank them enough. After checking out & arriving at our next hotel, my husband realized he left his Bose headphones in our room. I emailed the hotel asking if they could send them to our final hotel while traveling in Japan. They responded within a half hour & mailed them right away at no cost. The hotel is well maintained & clean. The onsan was great with lovely toiletries. The location is perfect for touring Kyoto. Not far from the bus & train station. Great area to walk around & check out temples, shrines & shopping area in Gion. My husband thought the room was a bit on the small side & wished it had drawers to put clothes in, but I thought the size was fine. My only complaint was that we found out breakfast was not included upon check in. Breakfast was quite expensive. We were traveling with 3 kids, so having breakfast at the hotel would’ve cost us about $150 per day. We opted to get breakfast out since we were there 5 nights. Would stay again!

The best hotel we had in Japan”
We loved this hotel right in the middle of Gion. Even if the room was a bit tight for 4 people, we were really comfortable. The public bath was great. Peaceful, awesome location, really nice hotel. Only downside, the breakfast! But we could live without it and eat somewhere else :).

We were so happy for picking this hotel. impeccable service, super clean and spoiling. The staff is extra friendly and helpful. The room is welcoming and well organized, besides the twin beds, which we hoped they could make a king bed or at least find a way to connect the two tween beds and keep the inseparable.... The area is the Gion Gaisha's area and there is a great coffee shop just around the corner. very close to the city center ( 10 min walk) and yet much more traditional and gives you a taste of true Japan. Just across the street of a lovely garden and temple. We loved it!

This wonderful hotel is extremely well located within walking distance of several beautiful shrines and a popular entertainment district and numerous geisha sightings. Badly needed weekend”
At this time in Japan, there's a "Go for Travel" campaign going on, where many hotels have been greatly discounted. My family and I were at first skeptical about doing this campaign, due to the Covid situation. However, the deals at this 5 star hotel were hard to turn down. We took advantage of this campaign at this hotel. Everything was excellent and immaculate. The hotel was pretty much par with a Ritz Carlton. The staff were very polite and very attentative, like a first class hotel. The entrance to the check in lobby and to the rooms were discrete. Only with a pass key can a door open to the elevator entrance to the rooms. Our room temperature was check twice before we got our key. Most of the amenities were the same, except, we were given a plentiful breakfast instead of a buffet breakfast. The onsen was available, minus the towels, razor blades, after shaves, etc. Bring your own water that the hotel provides free of charge. We had an excellent time . Highly recommend it!

Location was central, very clean hotel and staff were very friendly. The only critique would be that the wifi was very slow. The facility had parking which was a big plus. Highly recommend.

Located in the Gion district of Kyoto, known for its temples, shrines and geishas, the Celestine is a real taste of old Japan, with a kimono in the room, and an on-site Onsen (traditional public bath). The rooms are spacious and the staff is kind an attentive. I would highly recommend this hotel.
