Very good”
An older hotel but well maintained. The staff were very kind and approachable. Great location but not much of a view nor were there any noteworthy facilities. The triple room we had was a great size for 3 but the connection from the bathroom to the toilet was annoying.

Above average”
Had to change rooms because of the smell of sewage in my room. However there was no recognition from the Management of how disruptive this is. The very least you expect from Nikko hotel is clean and fresh rooms

Good value, Great Location!”
The Nikko Princess Kyoto is one of the older, premier hotels in Kyoto, seemingly catering more toward to an Asian clientele, but providing all of the western amenities as well. The front desk staff are professional and speak english. The concierge desk is available to provide Kyoto city information and tours. The food in the restaurant is good but be advised that the restaurant is pricey. With so many restaurants in Kyoto, the only reason to eat in the restaurant is being exhausted after a long day of touring. The double room was spacious, bright and clean. The room was not as modern as those in newer hotels and could be updated but it was very comfortable. Good A/C and heat. Wifi signal in the room was strong. The bathroom had an incredibly large family-sized shower and a very large tub. The Nikko Princess Kyoto provided a welcome respite after long tour days.

3 mature married intimates free-walk travel ”
demanding and experienced free walk travel ladies required a least of 3 single beds with spacious room. This hotel room can have a very nice scene up till Kyoto Tower, locates very close to shijo kawaramachi (just 7-8min walk easily access) This is a huge room compare to others in Kyoto; a big washroom and good enough for 3 single ladies to manage their baggage open. Breakfast in choices of traditional Japanese or Continental, we would say Japanese is good to experience as its's a very quiet and nice place but Continental breakfast would offer you anything you wish and delicious. Very good service attitude and helpful concierge. Excellent English speaking, hence mostly cater for westerner travelers. Should recommend or re-visit again in next travel plan of Kyoto.

Great service, and huge bathroom”
We stayed 3 nights in this hotel, and the experience has been great. All staffs were helpful and gracious, and the location is good, there is a train station nearby, and the room size is big, and bathroom is huge. We did not include breakfast in our reservation, but there are many breakfast place around the area. Will definitely stay in Hotel Nikko Princess Tokyo again in the future.

Pleasant stay in but location is not the best”
Our stay in the Nikko Kyoto was pleasant and staff were very friendly. The location is not the best it was about 10 minutes walk to Karasuma and all the happening area. They are alot of other hotels which was closer to Karasuma/Nishiki Market area. However, the Nikko Princess Kyoto had big and beautiful rooms that was comfortable for me and my family with young children. We booked 2 rooms, of which one of it we could see Kyoto Tower from our room which was a beautiful view. I would recommend this hotel for the its size as its difficult to find a big and comfortable room like this in Japan. However, they are many other accommodation options closer to the central area but might not be as big as Nikko Princess Kyoto. The staff are very helpful and friendly too!

Helpful staff, nice location”
Staffs are friendly and helpful. We lost our handphone in Tokyo, they immediately helped us to contact the hotel and arrange for delivery immediately to Nikko hotel. Rooms are spacious. location is good and accessible to many places of interest. Near train station and bus stops.

Good hotel with excellent staff and great location”
Staff helpful with accommodating our children who are teenagers but note that some rooms only allow a maximum of 3 people, so extra room is needed if you are a family of 4 (except young children) which adds up to the price of the hotel. We had to pay extra for the use of sofa bed in the room, which is unusual if you're coming from the USA. The staff, however, made the sofa bed up like a typical twin bed. Staff also very helpful on check-out when they called the taxis for us (we used 2), and made sure they talked to the drivers with limited English to drop us off the right location. Concierge was also helpful with tips and directions about places to see and use of subway, taxi, railway or bus. Hotel staff speak English so this is a big plus since most Japanese have very limited English speaking ability. Hotel is close to subways and bus stations and within walking distance to Gion, Nishiki Market and several temples. It's also close to a Family Mart and 7-11, restaurants and cafes.

Pleasant stay”
Room was large, bathroom was fantastic. Amenities were topped up daily without fail including coffee. Room was very silent being on the 14th floor but there was minimal noise from the building. WiFi was great, unless you wanted to download large files but for general use like YouTube and web browsing it was alot better then most other hotels. Hotel is walking distance to Karasuma station with multiple eateries on the way there. Hotel staff were always polite and welcoming, it was a nice touch coming back to the hotel with them to greet you no matter what time of the day it is. Price was on the high side but this was expected for the spring season, we were happy with the price. Overall we loved staying here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone to this hotel too.

Fabulous property”
This hotel was lovely! Very hard to find fault. Great location, really reasonable price. Rooms were well appointed and large for Japanese standard. Check out was 12pm which is later than most and very convenient. Beds and pillows comfortable and the rooms very quite. We ate breakfast in the hotel three out of four mornings and the selection is fabulous, however if you arrive close to 10am (they stop serving breakfast at 10am on the dot!!) you'll be disappointed as they didn't seem to replenish the food much through out the course of the morning. If you are still there at 10am you'll be (politely) told that they are now closed. The bar area is small, but a great selection. I would definitely stay here again without hesitation and I would highly recommend it!

Great Hotel”
We stayed at this hotel in July 2018 while in Kyoto. We had a Jr. Suite which was very spacious with okay views. Location was ideal and the breakfast was good. My only complaint is the hotel is very Western with no Japanese theme. If this is what you're looking for I would recommend this hotel.

Needs an upgrade”
The facilities and bedrooms are not traditional but not modern— the rooms look really outdated and not in the Kyoto style. The service is impeccable but would have enjoyed something a tad more elevated for the price we paid.

This is NOT a 4-star hotel!”
The staff at Hotel Nikko Princess is very courteous and nice, but please do not book this thinking it is a 4-star hotel. We came for our honeymoon and were sorely disappointed, especially given that this hotel was not cheap. There was no air conditioning, so we had to leave the windows open and night. We had a hard time sleeping because it was hot, we could hear the street noise and the bed was incredibly uncomfortable. The bathrooms are also in desperate need of a remodel. The location is decent and close to a subway station, but I would honestly have rather stayed in Gion so we could walk to everything. Honestly, you can get way more value for your money.

Great family stay in central location”
Really enjoyed it. Simple and not fancy, but great location, good value and easy access to subway. Biggest challenge in Kyoto was the total lack of any foreign language skill at local restaurants. Literally none, and so be ready to be flexible.

Expensive & Dated rooms”
Old rooms with peeling wallpaper but clean and good size. Friendly staff. Location about 15-25 minute walk to more action & attractions. For cost was expecting something more modern. Was first time staying in Kyoto so don't know how other hotels compare but I was not super impressed with outdated room which had a regular key (not key card).
