The hotel staff was kind and helpful. The cat at the reception was also cute and provided comfort. It was close to the staircase street, so it wasn't difficult to secure a place for dinner. Fortunately, the outdoor bath was empty, so I was able to relax and soak alone, which made me feel happy. There is no sauna. Breakfast was served in a large tatami room, giving it a traditional ryokan breakfast feel, which enhanced the travel experience. You can use a card for payment, but there are only a few card companies accepted, so I think it’s good to check in advance. It was a stay on a cold day, but the gas heater in the room didn’t seem to function well and stopped after a while, so it was a bit chilly at night.
It was an old-fashioned hotel, and the decorations had a Showa-era feel that brought back memories. The room was old but had been cleaned nicely, and there was hand sanitizer available. I was glad there was a unit bath. The amenities were minimal, including a toothbrush, body soap, shampoo, and a razor. The large public bath was the same. There was a hairdryer in the changing room. The breakfast in the hall included some delicious fish and miso soup. There was also a little bread and cereal. The staff for the shuttle and breakfast were warm and friendly, with lovely smiles. Everyone was kind. After reading other reviews, I went in with low expectations. I got a cheap stay due to a last-minute booking, and I am satisfied to have met such caring staff. My teenage daughter also said, "It's totally fine, right?"
The hotel is not far from the stone steps street, but there are many hills, so while you can walk there, it is surprisingly tough. I arrived earlier than check-in time, so I went to leave my luggage, but there was no one at the front desk, and a staff member who happened to pass by assisted me. There was a cat wandering around the lobby. On my way back, I also left my luggage to enjoy a stroll around Ikaho. The front desk staff was kind and helpful. There are luxury inns nearby, but this hotel is sufficient for a trip focused on cost performance. Thank you for your hospitality.
I was taken care of for the first time. The proprietress and all the female staff were kind and gentle. The meals and the room were well-timed. Perhaps because the room was available, I was able to have room service in the adjacent room and relaxed while working. [Normally this would incur an extra charge, but it was a consideration from the hotel.] The food was also very delicious. I would like to use it again.

I stayed for one night and two days. It felt a bit scary at night because there were no streetlights and it was pitch dark. If someone is not used to the area, it might be better to go during the day. When I called on the day to confirm something, I thought the attitude of the elderly man who answered was not very good, but the woman at the reception was very nice and we were able to chat a lot. The room only had a window air conditioner and a fan, but it felt a bit cold in the morning, so maybe it was just right? There is no convenience store nearby, and it takes about a 15-minute walk. Since it is completely dark around, it may be better for those without a car to buy what they need beforehand. Regarding the room, there was a unit bath in the room, and it might depend on the room, but there was some water leakage or flooding, so be careful. There was a spider web hanging from the ceiling where the TV was placed, but I decided to ignore it. There were a few spots on the floor that creaked and felt like they were sinking, which was a bit scary, but other than that, I was able to relax and enjoy my time comfortably. The bath was very pleasant, and I got to take several baths before check-out. The staff kindly sent me off, saying I should come again, so I would like to visit again. Thank you for your hospitality.
