Pretty decent budget hotel”
Great location near to minimarket and just a short ride to the famous culinary spots and atrractions. Ac is cold and bed is comfortable, staff is also friendly. Cleanliness is a bit off and some of the floors is very dirty, but toilet and the shower works very well. This hotel give me a feeling of living in certain “kos kosan” but for its price point and for the strategic location, i think its pretty decent, just needs an improvement in the breakfast which was very lacklustre and up their cleanliness standard :)

this hotel gives you more than what you pay. you will get high speed internet (i can watch fa cup live streaming. good air conditioning, a simple breakfast, free flow mineral water, coffee and tea, clean shared bathroom. next to the hotel is laundry service which is very cheap, and next to the laundry is minimarket where you can buy your need or snacks while you stay at Griya Surya Solo. Just go across the street you can take a bus to Tirtonadi Bus Station. Many street foods available at night in front of the hotel. Overall, very worth the price.

The staff at GRIYA SURYA SOLO are friendly+helpful-- yet speak very little English: they will get someone who does understand, tho ! The location is south of thr Batik Markets, in Solo Baru... an easy taxi ride. The PARK MALL 21, brand new, is within walking distance-- food court, Cinema, lots of shops, cafés. On the street out front, there are Warung with local food, and an AlfaMart and Indomaret are just steps away. The rooms are cleam, the bed is very comfortable-- ranks right up there with the best of them all!! The bed has a top sheet (not always common) as well as a blanket. The provided towel is small, yet does the job OK. Each room has AC, a desk and chair, and flat-screen TV w remote--local channels only, so English programs available only in the evening. (go to common room for English channels) There are shared toilet and shower, separated for men, women -- the sinks are on a wide hallway, shared by all. The common room is large and airy, with high ceilings, large windows, all-day coffee+tea, and free drinking water-- with HOT dispenser for ramen, soup, whatever. 'Breakfast' is bread (w*o toaster !) and chocolate sauce. The TV has Cable or Satellite, so English channels are available thru the day -- depends on who is watching (nationality). The WiFi is available in the rooms. Griya Surya Solo is inexpensive, offers a GREAT VALUE, and is certain to become POPULAR, once it becomes known !! I definitely recommend it for fellow budget travellers! Currently, there are two 'Deluxe' rooms being 'developed, constructed, made available' for later Dec 2014.

GRIYA SURYA is definitely a good bargain!

Cheap and nice”
Pros : it's very cheap, the staff is very nice (they can call a taxi for you), good wifi, good showers, comfortable bed and good working a/c, things were very quiet when I was there, coffee, tea, water and hot water available all day long. Cons : the breakfast is just bread with condensed milk, it's pretty far from the touristic attractions (between 25000 and 30000 Rp for a taxi from the bus station or the train station though, so that's ok ; walking to the city center takes a good half-hour and was pretty disagreeable to do as a solo female traveler, but it's doable). That being said, it's 5 minutes away from a big mall with a movie theatre, there's an alfamart and an indomaret next door and plenty of cheap eateries around (and lots of options in the mall too).

The hotel was almost deserted, and the staff do not speak English, but it was a very pleasant stay. About a two km walk to major shops and nearly twice that to the railway station, Belapan. It is a busy road, but ear plugs cancelled out some of the noise. The room was lovely...my first hot shower and private bathroom in a month. The price, on special, very reasonable. Much better value than my room in Yogya, which is more expensive.

i booked twin shared room, but when I checked in the staff said it is shared bathroom, while it is not mentioned in agoda. therefore, i had to upgrade the room with extra cost :( it is in busy area, more like mess than hotel. no bath ammenities at all, no room service, but the staffs are quite friendly and helpfull. very easy to find food, right in front the hotel, even until midnite
