Excellent”

Brighton Home has some excellent features: the responsive and caring staff, the beds have privacy curtains, the showers and toilets are clean spacious and available. and the location is close to green areas, shopping and quality restaurants at reasonable prices. It is definitely a good value for the money. There are some facets I would have preferred to be different: the reception area is inside the nightclub which can be noisy and crowded and not conducive to quality communication, the breakfast area is in the basement with no natural light source and the linen on my bed needed to be changed and was not prepared when I arrived. , My phone was stolen off of my bed while I was sleeping in it, This soured my overall impression. I am told that this is a rare occurrence. This could have occurred in any temporary lodgings. As they say, you roll the dice and you take your chances.

Hello Tziporah, Thanks so much for your review, we really appreciate it. The bar is currently the only option for our reception area due to the new kitchen and 2nd bar being built but we're working on a solution for this. We're also planning a makeover for the common area. Due to our competitive pricing, we don't refresh bedding daily unless asked but if theres ever anything we can do please speak to a member of staff. I'm so sorry about your phone, but as we don't put cameras inside the dorms theres very little we can do about that. Regards, Adam (Shift Manager)

Great location”

Great location, but not for the faint-hearted cleanliness-wise. The downstairs toilet is shared with bar customers (I think) and was filthy with no toilet paper (except over the floor). The facilities are otherwise ok, and the staff cool - upstairs toilets may have been better, I didn't check. The location and price make it an ok port in a storm.

Go for a smaller room”

It costs a very slight amount more but it's well worth getting a room shared with less people. They're higher up the building so less noise from outside and less chance of sharing with someone noisy or a group that has all booked the same room so that they can go for a piss up. I've stayed in a couple of rooms here, some come with a small wall lamp for each bunk (again, smaller rooms better). All come with plug sockets for each bunk for charging phones etc. A modest breakfast is included but I've never bothered with that apart from a fruit juice.

smart hostel but need to be cleaned deeeeeeply”

It's a nice hostel, it's cheap, staff is more than friendly and they do their best for your stay, beds are clean, plenty of plugs, pretty good internet (depends obv how many ppl are connected at the same time) BUT it is dirty, absolutely dirty, maybe guests are unmannered but floor are not swiped/mopped everyday, toilets are not cleaned everyday and nobody pass "at least one time p/hour" as written, showers are broken or stinky (but there is hot water) and the kitchen/common area it's and awful mess (here clearly the unmannered guests are obv guilty but I've seen same dirty plates for more than one day). If you are not too choosy and you fancy give a quick help around in the kitchen to give a swipe where other have messed you will be fine and enjoy your stay. Just don't clean while other guests may see you or they will think you work there and pass you more dirty plates to clean ;-)

Never again ”

Free wifi, included breakfast, meeting New people

15 beds were far too many for the size of the room. As a result, the room became too warm with all the people inside it. There were no shelves or safes inside of the room and the floor was very dirty. Thus Climbing plants grew though our and other windows. Two choices of cornflakes and toast with strawberry jam is ok, but not such a nice breakfast. The personal was cool but does not seem that professional. All in all the hostel isn't a clean and nice place to relax. That's why I still can't understand why it wasn't allowed to drink in the rooms.

Cheap, so you get what you pay for. Generally unclean especially in communal kitchen. I only needed the room for a few hours to store things and have a nap so it suited for that but I wouldn’t recommend it for extended periods of time. Bed was dirty, unmade, room was like a cupboard, entire place stunk, was assured my belongings would be safe but when I got back someone had removed them from the room and placed them in the hallway... the staff seemed confused by this but not concerned. Stayed in lots of hostels around the world, this was by far the most unpleasant. Less of a hostel in the traveller sense and more of the homeless. If I could give leas than one star, I would. The only positive is it is close to the laines, the sea and kemp town.
