“The room is spacious and nice, but...”

Although the facility was old, it had a hot spring and a shop, allowing me to experience the retro Showa feeling after a long time. However, one disappointing point was that I arrived before check-in time and went to the front desk to ask if I could leave my luggage. Of the two people at the front desk, one was on the phone and could not assist me, while the other was an older woman who was already attending to another guest in front of me. Instead of helping me, she continued with her task, and while I was standing in front of her, I thought she might not have noticed me. I made eye contact, but without a word of welcome, she glanced at me and returned to her file. After she seemed to finish, she went to assist the guest ahead of me. The person who was on the phone was aware that I was waiting but did not attempt to assist me at all. Just as I thought the older woman might come to help, she interrupted the call being made by the other person, directing them instead. The person on the phone looked apologetic but couldn't interrupt the older woman's instructions and had to continue with her own work. For the first time in a hotel, seeing two customers in front of me, the older woman prioritized her own task without a single word of apology for making us wait. When I asked about luggage storage, she responded as if it were a bother, saying it was an auto-locker behind the wall, implying that I needed to store it myself (with an attitude and tone suggesting I shouldn't have even asked). In that moment, I thought to myself that I would never want to come back to this hotel. Given that the other staff were kind, I feel a certain respect for the front desk staff who left me with such a lasting impression on my first visit.

    “The spa is good.”

The shared areas are spacious, and right in front of you, you can take a walk by Lake Biwa while enjoying beautiful sunsets. It's a pity that the spa, which is a highlight, closes at 11 PM. There were also families enjoying table tennis and board games, and the lounge's free access was nice. There are carts for carrying luggage and a coin laundry, making it easy to live comfortably once you get used to it. However, it can get crowded, with many inbound guests. I found it frustrating that the restaurant and elevators were also crowded. We always choose not to have meals included and eat in our room, but the table is a bit too small for that. The window only opens 10 cm, so just a little breeze from Lake Biwa comes into the room, but it's still nice to be able to open it. The cleaning of the magazine articles was not thorough, so I ended up cleaning it myself.

“The staff is friendly and the location is great!”

I wanted to take a stroll toward the north of Nagahama, so before checking in, I used a dedicated locker to store my luggage and borrowed a bicycle. It was on a first-come, first-served basis, but I was lucky enough to get one and enjoyed cycling around the Kunitomo Gun Museum and the surrounding area. The facilities were a bit old, but the attentive service made up for it. However, the buffet and lounge service were extremely crowded, making it difficult to relax. Nonetheless, considering the accommodation cost, I would say it's a hotel with great cost performance. I would like to visit again during my next trip around Lake Biwa.

    “Great relaxing place to stay.”

Nice quiet hotel / resort in Nagayama. There is a bus shuttle service that runs from the station to the hotel every hour. Travellers with luggages can make use of this service, otherwise it's about a 8 minutes walk from the station to the hotel. The onsen is great and the hotel has free lounge access from 1500 - 1800 and 2100 - 0000. Alcoholic beverages are self served during this period. Pool is closed throughout the year other than summer. Just outside the hotel, there is a nice park for leisure strolls along the perimeter of the lake. One thing that can be improved would be the breakfast area. It can get quite congested and alot of movements. So it gives the feeling that everyone is finishing to eat during breakfast. There is also a laundry area to wash your clothes near the public bath. There are 2 table tennis tables, carrom to play too. Overall, it is a great and relaxing place to stay and will come back again.

    “Ok, but not great…”

The room was small, the bed was hard. I barely fit in the shower because of size. That being said, the staff was great! Everything was clean. But there was not much to offer, no restaurant on site and restaurants in area were closed on Wednesday, so we had to travel 3 miles. The lake was beautiful, but i would not stay again because of size.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. we’re sorry to hear that the size of the room and shower, as well as the bed’s firmness, did not provide the comfort you were looking for. We understand how these factors can impact your overall stay. We also apologize for the inconvenience caused by the lack of dining options on-site and the nearby closures on Wednesday. We’ll take this feedback into consideration as we look for ways to enhance the guest experience. We’re glad you enjoyed the beauty of the lake, but we’re disappointed to hear that other aspects of your stay didn’t meet your expectations. Thank you again for your feedback, which helps us to improve. We hope you’ll consider giving us another opportunity in the future to provide a more enjoyable experience.
