Best and value for money hostel in Gion”
The hostel is located in the heart of Gion, and walking distance to most famous Shrines, Yasaka Shrine, Kodai-ji temple, Kiyomizu-dear and iconic pagoda of Hokan-Ji. The staffs are friendly and a young Japanese lady who is fluent in English is extremely helpful (didn’t get her name). Check-in time is at 1500hrs, therefore there will not be any reception staff around before that time. The cleanliness of the hostel is good and saw the staff actively cleaned up the bathroom and futon bed after guest checked out. There will be only 3 shower rooms at level one and there is enough WC at level one and two for all guests to use. There will not be any locker for individual to place their luggage and luggage will be kept inside the bunk bed (enough space to put at least two cabin size luggage.) A drawer inside the bunk bed can be pad-locked to keep valuables. Common area has TV, kitchenware, fridge, tables for all guests to use. Initially, didn’t have too high expectation for the price paid and it turned out to a very pleasant stay for my 4 nights. This hostel deserves a thumbs-up. I will be staying again if I ever go Kyoto. Great location”
First and foremost, very peaceful location. It is located in one of the side alleys of Kyoto and is very close to many tourist spots such as shrines and castles. This is my first time in a ryokan with 3 of my friends and I would say we definitely could have fit more people in the room if we wanted to. The room is fairly standard but it was a good change of pace from the urban setting of a hotel or the casual air bnb. The staff that I met with was able to speak English quite well which made the check in process very easy.

Good location you can walk3min to Yasaka shrine ,5minute to gion&Keihan railway. You will get warm welcome from staff. This guest house is very very clean. Comfort bed. And friendly price.

BEST CHOICE THAT I MADE THE ENTIRE TRIP!”
Endless praises for this lovely place. 1) we checked in at about 12midnight and the staff gave us really precise instructions on how to get the keys 2) I love the systems and organization they have. Upon entering, you will know to remove your shoes and use their indoor sandals provided. Their shower at late night takes awhile to get warm and they have a signage indicating what you should do. But once it is heated up, it is really powerful and you'll have a good shower. Every single design is so well thought of that you feel so comfortable even though the bathrooms are shared 3) Great design, lovely and helpful staff, location was fantastic, and place was really new too! Highly recommend you to book this place

Traditional Japanese guesthouse ”
The guesthouse is locate in between two shrines; Yasaka Shrine and Kiyomizu Temple. I would suggest take the bus to arrive there if you carry a bulky baggage, it is closer than taking the train to guesthouse. Staff are nice and could talk with English and Japanese. Enjoyed my stay in here^^

Lovely place. Mixed private room. hostel”
The staffs here werw so polite, attentive and friendly. I got tyje room "Koi" which was lovely, it fitted 4 people, had a good heating system. spacious,and had a window with a view of a Japanese garden of the cafe next door. It was very beautiful. It lacked a few things a hotel would though, there were no fridge, cups, kettles, toiletry sets. The water system was a bit of a problem, especially to my mum and granny. The thing is you must press on the (only) button long enough in the beginning, and keep pressing until the water becomes stable, then throughout your shower you'll have to keep pressing it otherwise the water will just stop. I suggest the hotel staff show, or explain more clearly about this during check in to avoid customers feeling frustrated because it is. They cannot do anything about it though, its just the way it is for the showers. The hotel area was very nice, there are many temples around, also walking distance to the the very busy streets (a bit touristy but still lovely) I also made some new friends at the hotel common room which is nice, so if you want to meet new people go to hangout there.

Great fun for groups”
As a group booking a room for five, it was great fun being able to pull our futons next to each other and have a fun sleepover feel kind of night. There was also space available in the dining area or upstairs common room to play games. Heating was available in all the rooms which was great for the winter, plus spare blankets available. Gion Ryokan Q-Beh was also conveniently between the main street of shops and the older style small shops in the backstreets.

If you would like to try Japanese traditional house , Q-Beh is recommended. However, this is not recommended to those people who live in the country without 4 seasons during winter day. Super cold 🥶 even if there is a heater in the room !!

This place is located in the quiet Gion area and I enjoyed my stay in a tatami room. The staff were not on duty at all times, and some quests were chatting in the communal area till late at night, which was a bit disappointing.

value for money and very helpful staff”
If you are a new traveler to Kyoto (solo or not). This capsule hostel is for you. the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable in sightseeing spots, events and tours. they were able to teach me where I could go for autumn leave night illumination which is famous in Kyoto. facilities are clean but bed is dusty (not for people with sinus issues). It has a very traditional japan design thus it is a very interesting stay. It is abit far from the station with afew slopes. Beware if you are a solo traveler with heavy luggage it will be a struggle. I really enjoy my stay here and will definitely come back to Gion Ryokan Q-beh the next time I am in Kyoto.

this is my second time to stay in Gion Ryokan Q-beh. I stayed in the female dom. it is excellent for solo traveller to stay. nice cube to sleep, the quilt is warmer than i excepted. have showeroom， but no central heater, feel a bit cold before showering. a nice common room on thd g/ f with open kitchen. hot water supply 24 hr. self coffee and tea corner. i like they provide lots of latest tourist information and weather forcast at the entrance. nice view on3/f common room .

I feel so lucky that I stumbled upon Gion Ryokan Q-beh. The location is perfect, the facilities are kept spotless and it's an excellent value but it was really the staff who made it feel so friendly and inviting. Can't recommend it enough.
