This review is not for Desak Putu Putera”
** This review is not for Desak Putu Putera, but for the accommodation across the road ( I think its name is Nyoman Warta. Or something like that) ** I arrived to Desak Putu Putera and a woman from the shop beside it came to ask me what I was looking for. I mentioned the name of the accommodation and she didn't say anything else to me, just made gestures to follow her. She took me to the reception of the homestay, talked to a boy in Balinese and signed to me again to follow her. We left the place, crossed the road, and entered another property, where she talked to another woman. Then I realised she had overbooked her homestay and was transferring me to another one. When I asked if the price was the same, she said "yes". For this reason, I can't write anything about Desak Putu Putera, but I can tell the staff is not friendly and irresponsible. Now, the review for the homestay across the road. The woman from the new place showed me in 2 minutes that she is way friendlier than the woman from Desak Putu Putera. Even though she could barely speak English, she showed me the place around, the bedroom, the bathroom, she asked me what time I wanted to have breakfast in the morning... It was an ok place, with air conditioner and a comfortable queen size bed (and a good mosquito net). The bathroom is kinda old, but clean. The best part of it is the really beautiful garden, that can be enjoyed from the table and chairs located in front of the bedroom. The breakfast was also great, served at the table in front of the bedroom. The lady cooked a very tasty omelette with toasts. She also brought a cup of good fresh coffee and a stack of fresh sliced papaya, pineapple and watermelon. The place is quite close to Ubud Central, you can easily walk there. There are some Warungs around and also some small local convenience stores. I am sure this place is cheaper than the one I booked, but I did not really care about it. I just hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Stunning rooftop views and a welcome cake”
Our stay at Desak Putu Putera started with us walking to the hotel from Ubud. It was maybe a 10 minute walk from where we were dropped off, and it was easy to find. When we arrived, we simply said that we had booked through Agoda, gave our names, and that was enough for the friendly staff, they knew exactly who we were! We were immediately offered a hot drink, which was served to us with a small cake, which we enjoyed while sitting on the balcony overlooking the beautiful traditional Balinese rooftops. The room was clean and offered everything that we wanted for our visit to Ubud. There was a good choice of breakfast - all of which were delicious. We would definitely recommend the pancakes! The grounds of the hotel were beautiful, with various sculptures, beautifully arranged plants and some fishponds. All in all, we would really recommend staying in Desak Putu Putera. When we return to Bali, we will definitely revisit Ubud and stay here again.

charming balinese experience”
I really enjoyed my stay at this homestay. It allowed me to experience living in a charming balinese home. It was a novel experience waking up to the crow of roosters in the morning. The room I stayed in was quite big, spacious, clean and provides all the basic necessities. It has no TV but I didn't mind at all. The owner and staff are super nice, sincere, and very accommodating. They always have a smile in their faces. The homestay offers car rental services with a driver which is cheap and convenient. Breakfast was basic but delicious especially their pancakes. I'll definitely book in this homestay again the next time I'm in Ubud. If you want to avoid the "touristy" feel of most hotels and wants to soak in the balinese way of life then this is the place to be. Desak Putu Putera is highly recommended!!! =)

Good family run homestay”
We had a good time in Desak Putu Putera Homestay. Our room was clean and big. Also for me was great to find that in the room they had a desk and a balcony! They offered us coffee and sweet pastry upon arrival, very tasty. They had beautiful common areas, and the family lives there, is not a common place to stay. The breakfast was really good, the jaffles and the omelet were great, fruit salad and you can choose between coffee/tea/ginger (we love ginger) The only problem we had (and we didn't find it a real problem either) was that the hot water wasn't working, but the family tried to fix it, they even sent the water heater for repair, but it took longer than expected (we actually saw the specialist going home and checking the problem). It's in a quiet place, 15 minutes walking from the Palace. 10 minutes from really great restaurants and 3 minutes away from Warung Little India :) Comfy bed, air conditioning and coffee in your room.

Fantastic experience, great value and hospitality”
I had a great time in Desak Putu Putera Hidden. I initially booked 4 nights in Superior room (Room3) including breakfast and decided to extend 3 more nights on site. The room was new and very clean, and housekept very well everyday. The location is very hidden so it was great place to relax with quiet and peaceful environment. As a female solo travellor, I felt safe and comfortable during the stay, all staff can communicate in English well and they were very freindly and polite. They also offer a private day tour at the homestay with very reasonable price, as well as the airport transfer. I would love to stay again when I have a chance to visit Ubud next time.

excellent stay in ubud”
We had a really good stay at Desak Putu Putera homestay in ubud. Everybody's helpful either for planning our stay, giving good travel tips, etc. The rooms cleaned every day. The views good, the breakfast is really delicious. Above all, the staff is friendly and make you feel like at home. Just a little problem of hot water but it was repaired quite quickly. To take without hesitation.

charming homestay held by very nice family”
we loved staying at the desak putu putera! it's not right on the central street of ubud but it's in very little walking distance, and the location makes it a little more authentic. the house is beautiful: red and grey bricks, two story house, family temple in the garden - a typical balinese house! the family who runs the homestay is super friendly and always willing to help: rent a motorbike (right outside the house), find a driver... don't expect a very modern place, it's a bit old but kept very clean by the owners.

Stay at Desak Putu Putera HIdden”
They moved me to Desak Putu Putera Hidden and it was awesome. Great little oasis in Ubud. Small pool, great garden, amazing staff, comfortable bed and good WI-FI. Really nice little place, great value for the location. I didn't see the Desak Putu Putera location but their Hidden location just down the street was great. The only downside was the neighbors had roosters but it added to the charm, I thought.

Loved this home stay!”
Stayed here for our first two nights in Ubud and would have stayed longer if they hadn't been booked out. We loved it here. The room was huge, clean, nicely decorated, comfortable and with en suite toilet/shower. We had our own beautiful private balcony garden with comfy sofas and a table where we chilled out at night and ate our breakfast in the morning. Breakfast was a fresh fruit salad, drink, and cooked good of our choice from the menu. Less than 1 minute walk to great food and less than 5 minutes to the main road. Just a quick warning: it's easy to confuse with Desak Putu Putera Hidden due to the name , but this place is just 100m further down the road.

I would return if I ever have any chance to visit Bali”
The owner, Pak Putu is a friendly person. His mother, Ibu Desak is a warm person. U have to realize since this is a Homestay it means that u live in someone's else house. The sleeping room (#05) is spacious, it has a basic facilities but no TV & no refrigerator. Everything is very good for us (parents with 2 young children). Our 4yo son got a free extrabed, we just pay an extra breakfast daily. We like the location because it is not in the main center of Ubud. Almost everything at Suksma Kusuma street is cheap (laundry, foods, drinks, etc.). There u can get local prices where u can't get any like these at the center streets around Ubud). We love walking then going to the center is our problem at all. Maybe the aircool at our room should be much cooler. The cold & hot water to take shower must be a bit clear (not too hot or not too cold with better pressure). The local people who lives around the Homestay are nice. I would recommend this Homestay to everyone. We'll come back for sure!

Lovely Family Home!”
Desak Putu Putera is a great place in a traditional balinese family home in a less touristic area of the town. Good for early wake up for happy chicken in the neighbourhood. ;) 10 minutes walk from the Ubud Market. Basic rooms but comfortable and clean. Very good value!

love the bali architecture & environment”
upon booking confirmation from agoda, our email requesting late checkin was quickly replied by the owner of the homestay, pak putu. we stayed here for 2 nights and loved the natural surrounding here. there was an outdoor living room outside our room with nice bali deco which makes us really feel like home. wifi was available inside the room. if you are lucky you can hear the sound of gecko at night. there was also a durian tree outside our bedroom window. the family that runs the homestay was very friendly & helpful and always smile. they also served delicious banana & pineapple pancake, nasi goreng, omelette & fruit salad for breakfast. although there was no tv in the room, ubud centre is just a few minutes walk away. if you wish to feel a nice & peaceful homestay with bali environment, this place is a good option. the rate was very affordable especially for a budget traveller like us.

It's worth more than the price you pay”
Stay with the family of Desak Putu Putera so you can feel and enjoy the atmosphere of Balinese tradition in every corner. They have choices for breakfast. If you are not a morning person, the sound of the roosters around the house might be a problem, but not for me. I highly recommend this place for you to stay when you come to Ubud. You can rent car or motorbike with discount price as well

Lovely Guesthouse with Bali Family”
we stayed at desak putu putera homestay for 2 nights. location is nearby to the attraction area. but, at night there wasn't any lights at all along the road to the guesthouse so walking around the area after 8p.m. is not recommended. we ended up staying inside our room and drinking bintang until we fall asleep. hot water is good but don't expect super clean and spotless like 5 star hotel. remember, this is only a guesthouse and they clean the room and change towel for us everyday. for the price that we pay for, it's worth it. this guesthouse is best for those who looking for staying with the local family experience. they are really nice people and speak fluent english. tour and driver can be arrange with them as well.

Very nice home stay hotel”
i love staying at the desak puty putera. the house itself is very beautiful. each room has its own balcony and chairs where you can enjoy the excellent tea provided by the house owner. the house is a bit far from ubud market (around 15-20 minutes walking) but there are so many interesting shops on the way so i will not find bored walking there. the house owners are very friendly and very helpful but at the same time do not give you the impression that you are under too much control/watching at all.

Beautiful homestay - really want to stay!”
When I saw the photos on the agoda site I wasn't really that impressed, however, when I got there it was so much more than I had expected. The owners are very friendly and their staff are as equally hospitable, service with a smile and cleaning your rooms everyday. When I checked the prices of other homestays in the area, this one was the cheapest by far. But what was very impressive was the breakfast! Among the menu you could choose French toast or omelet which was so delicious! There were a few mornings I chose to sleep in and I didn't expect that they would still serve me breakfast, but to my surprise close to 11am they asked me if I still wanted breakfast and they served it with a smile. You could go out to the the balcony and enjoy the fresh air from your room, or you could go out to the the patio, relax or read a book while enjoying the beautiful garden. For a standard room and cheap price the room was quite big with fan, AC, hot water and good wifi. Its not situated in the buzz of the shopping area, need to walk about 15 minutes or go by motorbike or taxi. I personally walked as I got to discover many more places. I could also hire their driver who took me to the airport. And even though I had to leave 3:30am which was really early as I had to catch an early flight, they still charged me the standard price of Rp 200,000. I would definitely recommend this homestay and looking forward to staying their again if I'm in Bali.

Very good”
There was some kind of mistake with our reservation so we were transferred to the Desak Putu Putera Hidden and it was absolutely amazing, the second night we had to move to the guesthouse and it was kind of disappointing, the room even though is huge it's a bit old and there is no hot water. Next time we will definitely book the Hidden one instead.

Good wifi, aircon, large and comfortable room. ”
My stay at Desak Putu Putra was quite a nice one. My room was quite clean (although the bathroom wasn't super clean, but not too bad), the airconditioner was great, the wifi was good and the staff were lovely and helpful. The homestay is a little bit out of town which I quite liked (it was easy to walk to Jl. Hanoman, Jl. Raya and Monkey Forest Rd, where there are plenty of restaurants.) If you are planning to go out late at night I would suggest taking a motorbike or a friend and a torch as there is little street lighting in the homestay's street and some scary dogs! Breakfast was quite nice, especially the french toast. I enjoyed my time at this homestay and will book to stay here again next time I am in Ubud.
