"i wasn't sure what to expect in booking the kayu arum for my wife and i travelling to salatiga on business. we were pleasantly surprised (the listing showed only 1 star, but we had been told it was a four star) that the hotel was indeed a four-star standard. the pictures i had seen of the rooms looked bland, but once inside the rooms, the woodwork really made it feel "homey" and cozy. the pool and spa were wonderful, with spa treatments very affordable. we were also pleasantly surprised when the front desk informed us that they offered a free shuttle within salatiga, which we used frequently. the breakfast was also delicious and quite substantially filling, served with enjoyable presentation. the only downside of the hotel was the bathroom. though the bathroom itself was very clean and decorated wonderfully, as in many places in indonesia, the western toilet was not properly sealed so that a bit of an odor was present in the bathroom. the odor was not overpowering, but certainly present. aside from this minor issue (we kept the bathroom door shut), the stay was extremely enjoyable and we are recommending our friends to try the hotel on their visits to salatiga."
