Newcastle upon Tyne hotels & places to stay

Very helpful and friendly staff on arrival. The showers and toilets were spotlessly clean and the dormitory was pleasant. The bunk bed was comfy. Downstairs the kitchen and outside space were very nice too, great to be able to make food and drinks and use the internet lounge. A little noisy later on, but it was saturday night in newcastle, so not for someone who wants a quiet sleep!

Modest but adequate room size. More plug sockets than I've ever seen in a hotel room before - the whole family could charge phones, tablets, computers and cameras and still have a socket to use the tea and coffee making facilities! Good cooked breakfast. Easy check-in and out. Staffing was sparse as you'd expect in a budget location but they were responsive, helpful and polite. Would use it again if driving to/from Scotland or flying from Newcastle airport. Good parking for car within barrier protected site. Could leave car while on holiday at reasonable price.

There were absolute no cons - my room was upgraded from single to double for free. Excellent provision of basic things such as soap, shampoo, shower caps - I travel a lot and have noticed sadly that these basic provisions are often forgotten about. The room was lovely, extremely clean and absolutely great value for money. The staff were the friendliest I’ve ever met - will definitely stay here again if I return to Newcastle ! Keep it up guys !

It is cheap and cheerful. The staff are really friendly. Dont expect the hotel to be fine dining because it definitely isn't! Agoda listed that breakfast was included but the manager informed me that it isnt and that they had informed agoda of this. I had proof on an email so I got my breakfast but it wasn't very good. You definitely get what you pay for. .. like I said cheap and cheerful and in the end I had a good stay.. Would I go back? ?? I'm not sure I would, but I honestly would consider it if I had to.

We were traveling late at night so arrived at about 3am, although the doors are locked there is a phone number to call to get in after 10pm, (make sure you have charge on your phone), the receptionist gave us a room at the back overlooking the trees rather than the road which was very quiet. Its a perfect location if you are coming from the motorway and there is a Greggs, Subway and Burgerking on site for food. The room was clean and functional, shower gel dispenser, no shampoo etc and no hair drier. At check out we dropped our keys in a box no one around.

After booking on a bargain price I checked previous reviews, some of which were awful. However I noticed they were from some years ago, more recent reviews were far more positive. And I can only add to them, was nicely situated just a mile from the centre with bus stops nearby, staffwere freindly and helpful, room was great and bed very comfy. Only problem on the 2nd night was a group of teenagers who arrived back from partying in the early hours and decided to carry on partying rather loudly. I eventually had to go downstairs and speak to the Night Manager who informed me he'd already had calls from other residents. He went up and told them in no uncertain terms that they were disturbing other guests. I asked him as I suffer from CFS could I possibly have later check-out so I could get some sleep and he kindly agreed I could check out at 1pm instead of 11am. He apologized profusely about these rowdy guests but obviously it wasn't his fault and quickly sorted the situation out.

Just one night but the daytime and evening staff were fantastically heloful, friendly and interacted with their custimers in a professional, happy and welcoming manner. I canniot recommend enough that this should be your hotel of choice In Newcastle for it's obvious staff performances, location for travellers and revellers alike. The only negative could be for those with vehicles as there is no free parking I understand but this is the only downside of Sleeperz Hotel in Newcastle, well done to your team, any manager would be very proud of the reception team, the night team and everyone connected to this fine establishment

great little hotel fantastic food great reception and bar staff was disappointed at 9.45 a tall guy who does the rooms knocked very loudly on the door to tell us checkout starts at 9am until 11 am ? I informed him that reception told me it was 11am and I was going for breakfast first we had a small child with us and I have never heard of checkout at 9am until 11 am ? from anywhere around the world unless its a Newcastle thing I understand he needs to clean rooms but trying to get rooms empty before time was a bad call for the hotel we actually felt under pressure from this room assistant otherwise I would recommend this hotel the food is great and location by the river is spot on

On arrival we were a little early but we relaxed in the bar until check in time. The hotel was in the early stages of a refurb, considering this there was not very much disruption. The room was clean and the bed was comfy the breakfast was not advertised very well, but were not early eaters so it wasn’t a problem. The location of the hotel was great just minutes walk from the Sage and Gateshead shops. Newcastle not too far away either just the other side of the Millennium bridge. Hotel great for a cheap get away not too far away from either town.

Enjoyed my stay here. There were good bars/ places to eat/ a waitrose nearby . 5 min walk to metro. Nice staff at the hotel. Had a good steak at Scalanis restaurant, Osbournes restaurant next to the hotel was a nice place for a drink. Especially worth a visit during happy hour. Taxi to Newcastle/Quayside easy to get/book and not sure exactly, (due to amount of alcohol consumed) but was under a tenner and 5-10 min journey at most. Would stay again and recommend.

We booked a small double for £52, and continental breakfast. The Cairn is well located for access to Newcastle, on a busy road. Sunday night in Jesmond is quieter than the rest of the weekend. Our room was small, but clean. I hated the hard pillows, my husband loved them. We were unfortunate to have two air conditioning units on the external wall and a staff room of sorts above us, but in general we had nothing to complain about, everything in The Cairn is adequate. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Food was fine. Happy hour in the bar- brilliant. We have stayed in several hotels in Jesmond for short visits, and The Cairn is better than many.

Visited Village Hotel Newcastle again as we were so impressed the first time. The staff are lovely and very helpful and always at hand day or night. The rooms are always very clean and tidy and very comfortable. Enjoyed the breakfast every day and would recommend to other travellers without hesitation. Only one bug bear, could we just have a kettle and some coffee rather than the complicated coffee machines?

I always stay at this hotel in Newcastle. Its not the best hotel in newcastle, but it is in the best Location for nights out and trains home. Staff are always great, rooms are fine although look a bit dated. For the price, i'm certainly not complaining. Im guessing for a 3* hotel, this is the top end of that scale. The hotel has a feel of grandeur on the main stairwell with gorgeous chandelliers. Im guessing this hotel was top end in the past.

I stayed at this hotel as it was in central Newcastle, next to the station and lots of restaurants nearby. Unfortunately the reason for my visit was to see a relative who was seriously ill and in hospital. The staff were great, asked how she was following her operation, asked if she was still on ventilator, they were just so genuinely nice and interested. I will in the coming months be making many more trips to Newcastle and I will be staying here.

The Hampton by Hilton Newcastle is about a two minute walk from the Newcastle Central Railway station. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with choices of fruit, fruit juices, pastries, coffees, teas, sausages, bacon and cereals. We stayed in both a double room and a family room. The double room was very comfortable and the family room was very large. Bathrooms great and water pressure very good. Very convenient to get to because of location. Variety of restaurants around the hotel because of the location.

Clean hotel. But when I book a double room, it generally for 2. Forced to pay extra ( no option they had my money) the bed is reminiscent of a lie down in the jail. Hard and not comfortable. There are great hotels in the wonderful city of Newcastle unfortunately this is not one of them; heard the restaurant is amazing from many locals though so a pro in there...somewhere.

Recently stayed at the Doubletree at Newcastle Airport, found it to be an excellent hotel, and very reasonably priced. Reception staff were very pleasant, and plenty of parking available on site. The King room was very comfortable, and we had a very good nights sleep. The buffet breakfast was also very good, a lot better than those I've had at other hotels, and the staff are very attentive. Free Wi-Fi in the room was also a pleasant bonus. Overall we had a very pleasant experience, highly recommended and will be using again when back in Newcastle (also very handy for the airport which is less than a minutes walk across the car park)
