Merzouga hotels & places to stay

I just returned back from my trip to Merzouga, where I stayed at Sirocco Luxury Camp. The communication with Youssef was impeccable. He answered all my questions promptly and stayed in communication with me. We had no issues meeting at the meet up spot. They were there to welcome us and take us to camp. We took an amazing camel ride in and caught the sunset, before arriving at camp. Our Berber guide took the most amazing photos for us! The staff were accommodating and pleasant. Once we arrived at camp, we were so amazed on the amenities of our tent! The bed was so comfy, with nice toilet and hot running water for showers. The food prepared for us was delicious and the night ended around the camp fire, with traditional Berber music and gazing up at the stars. It was truly an experience we will never forget!

Chez Youssef is my highlight in my 13-day morocco trip. Host Youssef is a super nice man and he picked us at night when the bus arrived, served us hot delicious soup which made us feel very welcoming! The room we had got everything we need. The house has lovely decorations and make you feel absolutely like home. Breakfast is very nice and tasty. The desert trip Youssef arranged for us is super super good and the tour guides are so helpful friendly and responsible. I miss everything in Merzouga. Everything happened in Chez Youssef. Thank you for letting us being a bit naughty hahaha. 130%recommend to all people who want to have an amazing experience in desert

We really enjoyed our stay at the golden camp. We met our host at the merzouga cafe, it was very easy to find. From there we paid 25 Euros each to take a camel to our camp, this was a 2-hour ride and so much fun. The room was gorgeous, spacious and the water was very hot in the shower. The rooms have no air conditioning. Dinner was amazing and they catered to my vegetarian needs. The staff was playful and we really enjoyed the music after dinner. My only regret was that we had to leave very early in the morning and missed the sunrise, due to having a flight booked. But because we were missing breakfast, they packed us a takeaway bag with fruit and yogurt and cookies, they really exceeded our expectations. highly recommended.

My sister and I chose Nomad Bivouac because of the really good reviews and we were not disappointed. Hassan was the most amazing host ever and welcomed us as if we were family. We arrived really early at 6am and he had someone drive to pick us up and bring us to his house where he has a little guest house area and allowed us to rest there after our long bus journey. When we woke up he arranged breakfast (a huge spread) and told us we could hang out in the guesthouse until 4pm when we were going to head into the desert. He has 5 camels so we took 2, and headed into the desert on a 1.5hr journey to the tents. We watched the sunset on the dunes and Hassan and his crew arranged a lovely homemade tagine in the desert for us. We slept in tents which were simple and comfortable and had thick blankets to keep us warm. The only thing to note is that the bathroom in the desert was very simple - a toilet and some water in a bucket. Don’t expect to shower there. Just brush your teeth and wait till the next day when you’re back at his house to shower!! Highly recommended and we are very thankful for Hassan’s hospitality!!

Yes, they really have a door into the desert and it's next to the pool. Once it is open you look straight into Sand and half way to your right is one of the largest sand dunes of the Erg Chebi desert. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights and it was great. All staff really friendly and always up for a chat. They organised for us a 4x4 tour through desert and the flamingo lake (yes, many camels AND flamingos nearby) as well as a camel ride later on the same day. Sadly we had a bad sandstorm but it was still a great experience. The room was good (11) and all facilities incl. pool very well maintained and of course clean. We booked because we didn't want to stay in a tent in the desert and because of the good reviews and we made a great choice staying here. Food was also great, we decided to eat in the Road both days and enjoyed 2 different variations of their delicious tagine dish. Huge recommendation.

I can’t say enough how amazing this place was. Mohammed and I exchanged probably a dozen emails. It was all me initiating looking for answers. When we got here, he treated us like family till the second we left. He gave you that sense of safety and security you don’t really get anywhere else. I will definitely be back and this will be the only place I stay. So I highly and extremely recommend this place if you’re thinking of visiting the area. Keep up the fantastic work Mohammed and I truly look forward to seeing you again in the future.

The house is build in a authentic barber styl with really lovely rooms. The rooms have everything you need and the bed was confortable. The breakfast was traditional and really tasty. The Camels House also organise trips to the Sahara and offer a stay overnight in the desert in one of the camps. We took the standard camp and we can highly recommended it. It was a great experience with fantastic food and barber atmosphere.

We spotted many listings for bivouac camps out of Merzouga that seemed inexpensive, but required extra fees for the camel pickup, meals, etc. Ali & Sara offer a lot for what seems like a higher price point than their competitors, but EVERYTHING was included. Given that their offering included the camel pickup from Merzouga, free parking at a hotel in the Merzouga village, a wonderful local dinner and breakfast, a souvenir turban scarf to protect your head and breathing from the sun and sands, copious amounts of bottled water, working bathrooms, and the 4x4 ride back into the parking lot the next day, you really are getting a lot for the price. We had a great experience the whole way, although we wish that they were more responsive to email messages before our trip (we only received directions on how to find the parking lot and how to pay the day we were scheduled to come). Other than that, our knowledgeable guide Hassan led us on the 90min camel ride into the camp, and even managed to get us on top of the dunes halfway in so that we could see the sunset over the Sahara. The meals were amazing local fare that were among the highlights of our 10d trip. It was a clear night, and so our hosts offered to move our beds outdoors so we could sleep under the stars. The ambience that night was also nice with the African band playing into midnight and the campfire and friendly people all around. Despite the fact that this is essentially a hotel, complete with running water, electricity, and wifi deep in the sands, you can pretend for a night you are far away from civilization.
