"The first place that I have been on holiday where the views are the same as the photos you see advertising the hotel. White sands, aqua blue seas and a real tropical island paradise. Of course Paradise has a price tag and it’s pretty hefty but then you must remember that living on an island is not cheap. Generation of electricity, desalination of water removal of waste by boat, hotel staff living on island as well etc all have to be paid for. We went bed and breakfast and so paid for evening meals at the restaurants at the hotel where you should allow GBP200 per night for a family of four. Think of it as eating in a top restaurant but located in the Maldives. Oddly enough, whilst the food is expensive the alocohol is relatively good value. USD 5 for a beer, USD 7 for a glass of wine and so on. Everything is priced in USD at the hotel and best to bring a big pile of cash to avoid additional credit card charges. The water sports are also quite expensive. It was USD 80 for 1 hour on the trimaran, USD 60 for 10 Mins on the towable inflatable and 55 USD each for a half day island hopping tour. Avoid the island hopping tour as it is just an excuse for the boat people to take you to a local island and gift shop where they try to sell you expensive souvenirs. Although I don’t think badly of anyone for trying to do this as life is tough for a local living in the Maldives and they have to make their way in life some how. I found the hotel staff friendly and helpful and the beaches and sea are second to none- superb. The accommodation is a little tired and needing maintenance. All in all an excellent holiday and worth the money we paid although expensive "

"The staff didn't greet us from the jetty, we need to walk our way to the hotel. We travel with other couple (they on their honeymoon) and they stayed at different hotel (next to our hotel). The hotel that they stayed have a representative waiting at the jetty. Luckily, we can shared the trolley to put our bags (huge bag trolley, only staff push the trolley). The staff even send our bag to our hotel. Very nice of him. The hotel is walking distance to the jetty (about 3 mnts walked). Good for people who doesn't like to walk much as there's no public transport in the island. You have to walk to everywhere. We booked a room with balcony (sea view) and we are very happy with the room and the view. The room is spacious. Breakfast is good even not much selection. Very nice Maldivian menu. We've got free one activity that we can choose from (kayaking/surfing). Highly recommended for people who doesn't like to walk much and value for money."

"Thanks for making our stay nothing less than AMAZING !! As soon as we got down from the boat, we were greeted warmly by Ibrahim, the guest relations manager at Narnia Maldives. The smile on his face made us feel so good. He guided us to the hotel, which is very close from the ferry point. As soon as we entered the hotel we were welcomed with refreshing drinks and fresh towels which was really needed after an hot afternoon boat ride. The rooms are beautiful, AC is the best part, superrrrr cool. The rooms are well-furnished, big, bathrooms are well lit with open shower, clean and spacious too. All this is always kept clean by the staff. Each day after the rooms were cleaned, we would find a new towel arrangement on our bed. Sometimes a swan, a dhoni, a flower. My wife used to just love the creativity. :-) The food is very good too, nice breakfast, good fish curry, I specially loved the coffee which was server 24 hours whenever we ordered and was offered free of cost. We enjoyed fishing trip and snorkelling trip with Ibrahim, Hassan, Suja who make sure they are always around during these trips, guiding us, clicking pictures with Go-Pro, making sure The overall staff is very friendly, always ready to answer all our questions. At evenings they played guitar, sang songs. It was really very good environment overall. Thanks Ibrahim, Arush, Suja, Hassan and all the others at Narnia for making our stay memorable. Thanks Salman for "always ready to serve" attitude, specially the coffee. I recommend everyone to experience Narnia, will definitely suggest to my friends and family. Would be the first place to stay whenever in Maldives."

"My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights in the water villa, and Summer Island was incredibly accommodating. From the moment we arrived, to the last hours of our stay, it was pure relaxation! Highlights: all-inclusive water villa option is the best for your money in the Maldives! We didn't have to think about where to eat or how much it cost. And the menus were changed daily. The room itself was spacious and even better than the online photos! On top of that, every staff member on the island greeted you with a smile and provided excellent service. The one negative, is the Turtle snorkeling service was not up to Summer Island standard. The German instructor did not introduce himself and my boyfriend thew up during the boat ride which he ignored completely. The crew however, were very helpful and sympathetic. Lastly, this snorkeling trip was not free, as we had been lead to believe. Overall, thanks Summer Island for the vacation of a lifetime! We hope to return in the future!"

"SummaVilla guesthouse is a fantastic guesthouse on the local island of Maafushi (south of Male). Maafushi presents a local, authentic and affordable experience while in the beautiful island chain of the Maldives. The exceptionally friendly and helpful owners and staff of SummerVilla are locals on the island who have their family homes close to the guesthouse. We felt they genuinley cared about during our two week stay whilst exploring Maafushi and its surrounding islands. The service, food, cleanliness of rooms and attention to detail were outstanding for accommodation in this price range. We can highly recommend this guesthouse and will definitely be returning. Practical Information for Travelers to the Maldives

Before setting off on your Maldivian adventure, it’s essential to gather practical information to ensure a smooth trip. First and foremost, check the visa requirements based on your nationality. Most travelers can obtain a visa on arrival, but it’s always wise to verify the latest regulations before you travel. Additionally, familiarize yourself with the local currency, the Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR), and consider exchanging some money for small purchases, although credit cards are widely accepted at resorts and larger establishments.

Health precautions are also an important consideration. While the Maldives is generally safe for tourists, it’s advisable to stay updated on any health advisories and vaccinations recommended for travelers. Bring any necessary medications, along with a basic first-aid kit, to ensure you’re prepared for any minor ailments during your stay. Staying hydrated is crucial, especially in the tropical climate, so always carry a reusable water bottle to refill as needed.

Lastly, be mindful of local customs and etiquette. The Maldives is a predominantly Muslim country, and showing respect for local traditions is essential. When visiting inhabited islands, dress modestly and be aware of cultural practices. This not only enriches your travel experience but also fosters positive interactions with the local community.
