Koh Rong Sanloem hotels & places to stay

We had an amazing experience in Koh Rong Samloem at the Sweet Dreams Samloem Hotel. The small bungalow is perfect for 2 people, it s very clean and the bedroom + furniture are very new. The beach with hammocks, beds and beach chairs was a real paradise! They are still building new bungalows, so there is a bit of noise, but it is not a big issue. The food was also good and relatively cheap (if you compare it to other places on the island). Max was super nice and did everything to make our stay as perfect as possible! We had a small problem with over-booking, but the owners went over our expectations to fix it. Stay at Sweet Dreams and you wont regret it!!!

Hotel is located at a very convenient place.. close proximity from the pier (saracen bay). Restaurant is the best one you can choose in the area.. very cordial and helpful staffs.. rooms are very neat.. it is so wonderful to find such a resort with this quality in a remote island like Koh Rong Sanloem.. restaurant menu and food quality can beat any good restaurants of any place/city.. rooms are like independent cottages surrounded by flower trees.. air conditioning and hot water geyser worked absolutely fine.. strongly recommend

The bungalow with beach view was excellent with nice facilities. The pool was a great place to cool off and relax with other guests. The staff and hosts were excellent with their service, were kind, friendly and engaging. The restaurant offered a nice menu, and the cocktails were top notch. Would highly recommend any person visiting Koh Rong Samloem to stay at this resort. Summed up, had an awesome and relaxing stay.

Spent a night at this property: Con is they don’t have hot warred which is not good for my son who could bear with the cold water in the mornings during at night. They don’t have aircon either, but that is ok since you don’t need one at night- cool breeze from the sea can put you to bed quite well. Pro: they offer nice breakfast, room was clean and right on the beach, which is great to watch your kids play. Koh Rong Sanloem is a great choice if you like quiet, relaxing environment that fit well for children, highly recommend for those traveling with kids or simply looking for a bit of private time- and this property complemented that too.

We enjoyed our stay at The Pipes. The price was pretty excessive but we decided to splurge and stay there. The staff were fantastic especially the front desk guy, he deserves a raise. Very polite and helpful. The Pipes is located on the best and cleanest area of Saracen Bay. White sand beach amd clear ocean. For the most part they provided power 24 hours a day and the tap water was clean. Wifi in worked in the rooms . The prices for food and drinks on the island are a bit higher than the mainland but not too bad and the food at The Pipes was very good. We stayed in a bungalow instead of the pipe style because it was bigger and had a patio to hang clothes. Koh Rong Sanloem is a very quiet island for relaxing on the beach rather than partying. Would recomend staying there if you want to splurge and pay a higher price. We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra 3 nights.

Absolutely no complaints, a clean, decently appointed bungalow right on the beach. Surprisingly insect/critter proof too. It's overpriced compared to something similar in other parts of the world (Goa, Thai islands etc), but much more bang for our buck than we found in Koh Rong, where rundown properties were priced in the same bracket as Orchid. A hammock on the balcony would have been the only thing I'd have wanted to add. Recommended.

I loved my stay here. The island is an amazing experience, and Paradise Villas does a pretty good job on their end. If you are like some of my friends who are squeemish around bugs and animals, Koh Rong Samloem might be hard for you. This hotel did not have any major problems, just a lot of geckos (massive ones!) that hang around all of the structures and eat the bugs. I thought they were cool! The bathrooms that are attached to the villas are out doors... this means there are more geckos and bugs here than elsewhere, so be prepared for that. There are a few more expensive places to stay at that might be more tightly sealed from animals, but I think most travelers would be happy at Paradise Villas. In addition, if you walk the length of the beach at Saracen Bay, you'll notice that some other areas have strong odors (open sewage somewhere?) But Paradise Villas has none of that. It smells great! Staff was very helpful and flexible. They let us cancel one room and change one without issu

We stayed Freedom Bungalow and resort for two days after cancelling our booking in other place on the island. This was more then a good decision. The place is perfect if you come for relax. Far away from the noisy bars and restaurants. The highlight is a natural jacuzzi from the waterfall directly in the location and nice small beach with hammocks in the water. The hause is simply but good enough for some days. The staff was very friendly. They offer a snorkelling and fishing tour and the speed boat stop is not far away. We were happy to stay there!

Clean beautiful beach and great staff. Even though the bungalows were completely booked it was still very quiet. The bathrooms were cleaned daily and they were the best we used on both islands. There's also a new bar where you can watch the sunset. Overall, I wish I skipped Koh Rong and just booked our entire stay here. If you want seclusion, relaxation, and can handle a 40 minute hike in with packs on, this is the place for you. We loved it.

We called up front and were picked up from the ferry. We took the speed ferry but the owner told us the slow ferry comes at the jetty more near the resort. We stayed at the treehouse which was simply amazing, we enjoyed it a lot. The staff is friendly and the owner is a great guy. The resort has a restaurant with a lot of nice food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Around the bay you can walk around, hire a kayak, swim in the very clear water or even go for snorkeling. If in the future I visit Koh Rong Samloem again I will definitely stay here.

Don't expect too much luxury at Sunset Beach, but that makes it all part of the charm. Sleeping Trees offers hanging tents (fun experience!) which are located right in front of the beach (literally takes less than 10 steps to get into the water). We stayed at one and, although a bed was a welcome luxury after 5 nights, we wouldn't have wanted it to be any different. Falling usleep under the stars, waking up and taking a swim with the first rays of sunlight; best experience we had in 2 months of travelling. The owner and staff are super friendly and helpful, the food is decent, and the pool table has not a scratch on it. The grounds of Sleeping Trees are well maintained and super tidy, while not having the constant buzzing of people around you. AND the eco friendliness of this place with its solar power is also a nice touch. Book in advance and give yourself more time than the "usual" two nights, because it deserves that! Only negative point is that water refill tastes weird :(

This is the best place I've stayed at so far. You get the best sunset view & the best snorkling in M'Pay'Bay. If you want you can go for a swim by the cliffs, they got a ladder down there. And if you wanna go to the beach it's only 3 minute walk. This place is very clean. The bar got the best music and vibes, beer is cheap & last but not least - the staff is amazing! Everyone should go to The Cliff

M'Pay Bay Bungalows is an excellent choice for any adventurer on Koh Rong Samloem. Its location is just a couple of minutes walk from the ferry dock. The owner is super-friendly and accommodating. Also, the large bathroom is functional, as is the private outdoor porch terrace. M'Pay Bay Bungalows offers only 5 bungalows, but the quality is very good compared to its nearby competition. The only negative is that there is no restaurant on the premises; however, there are many restaurants in close proximity.

We initially booked in for 2 nights, and stayed several more. You get the sense we aren't the first ones to do so. Staff are super warm and welcoming, giving you the right mix of space and chit chat without ever feeling intrusive. At the time of our stay, two French chefs on staff leading to some of the best food we had encountered not just on the island, but in Cambodia. close to reef for snorkeling and cliff views would highly recommend for those looking to escape

It felt like luxury having hot water and air conditioning after spending a few days on the bigger island, Koh Rong, without it. The owners look after you very well. I ate the best omelette I’ve had in three weeks in Cambodia for breakfast at their restaurant. They keep their beach area exceptionally clean and the rooms are beautiful and spacious, they have a nice big bathroom and the bungalows suit the demographics of the island. We stayed in a family beachfront bungalow.

The staff are great, communicating right after I made my booking, my boat ticket and adjusting it when I couldn't make it on time. Constantly in communication. Special stars for Mr Virak and Mr Cheang, really good handling of guests. Location is ideal, but some may be bothered by the mangrove (love the sense of privacy it provides) and the natural 'dirt' that gets washed off to the beach. I grew up in a place like this, so know that it's just the way it is with nature. White beach, clear water, great sunsets ! The hut I was in was not ideal, it's beach front and a hop to the water. However there lock didn't work well (didn't bother me), and the sink in the bathroom was faulty as well as spewing brownish water leaving gunky sediments once the water eventually drained (loooongg time), so I just didn't use the sink. Shower, bidet, faucet worked well. Part of the bathroom wall could use some new paint, others may find it gunky. Food is good, well at least the BBQ and salads I had. Suited my taste, spicy and fresh. Quite accommodating to my request. Staff also remembers preferences after the first time, i.e. two mugs of black coffee, no sugar or beer in bottle, no cans 😀 little things that makes one feels you matter and you belong. Definitely going back !

We’ve spent just one night here, but it has been simply amazing! The room is cozy and fully equipped for the cheap price you pay, but what makes Bong’s Guesthouse the best choice in Koh Rong Samloem is the position: right in front of M’Pai Bay pier! The staff is super friendly (they recommended us probably the best beach in Cambodia, Clear Water Bay) and they make the best meals in town! Definitely the best stay in Cambodia so far.

Harmony Bungalow is located in M'pay Bei Village, which is on the northern part of Koh Rong Samloem. This is the quieter part of the island and within the local Cambodian community. There isn't a good swimming area so if you're looking to swim, you might be better off on other parts of the island. However, I did enjoy being amongst the local community and most of the restaurants here are locally-owned so I felt like my money was helping the locals. I chose this part of the island because I also wanted to take a short day trip to the neighboring island of Koh Rong and it's closer from M'Pay Bei. It is possible to stay on M'Pay Bei and pay a private boat for $25-35 to go to the other parts of the island or to Koh Rong. I really don't think there is a way to walk from M'Pay Bei to the other parts of the island. The owners of Harmony were great. The bungalow I stayed in was clean, had its own private bathroom, and each bed had mosquito nets. It is very rustic so it's easy for critters to get in, but I think most accommodations in the area are similar. The owners of the bungalows were very friendly and accommodating. They help us arrange a boat trip to Koh Rong when we asked. The complimentary breakfast (included in the Agoda rate) was better than what we expected: fried egg, scrambled egg, beans, bacon, ham, baguette with butter, and coffee.

Lovely Resort. Best stay in Koh Rong Samlom. I booked the dorm bed but decided to upgrade to the bungalows. It is very clean and modern beyond what I expected. The bed was comfortable and basic amenities. Very clean and safe lock. The bungalow is right next to the beach off the dock when you arrive on the island. Beautiful view and great staff. The food is great at their restaurant as well. Will definitely stay here again. Good value for money

An excellently run hotel with friendly efficient staff. Email them with your ferry time and they will meet you off your pier. Or they may even email you asking for the information if you haven't given it 24 hours in advance. A walk down the stunning beach and you are given a welcoming cool drink in their beach restaurant on the rocks. The bungalow is wooden outside but internally it is sealed with plastered walls and ceramic tiled floors. Immaculately clean with a comfortable bed. Fan cooled but this was fine and worked as well as a/c. No extras like TV (what with a beach like this!) fridge or tea or coffee facilities but that is normal for beach properties here. The good Wifi just about reached room 4 otherwise go nearer or to the restaurant. Breakfast is a cooked choice with fruit plate, juice toast and tea or coffee, a good start to the day. The restaurant serves well prepared evening meals at normal beach prices and the service is excellent. Koh Rong Sanloem is much busier that it’s neighbour Koh Rong in that the main beach is lined with small resorts. But it is busier because it provides a much better standard of accommodation and a lot of choice all on a very nice beach. Koh Rong is basically dormitory lodging in Koh Touch village for people to get drunk and high. The quieter beaches in Koh Rong are stunning but generally with wooden hut fan cooled accommodation, great for the beaches but without the service and luxury touches of places on Saracen Bay Resort.

It is important to know what to expect. This is the kind of location and a kind of property which demands a laid-back and a bit adventurous attitude. One would be best advised to exhale and take it easy: the supply boat may fail to come on a particular day leading to absence of condensed sweet milk, the kitchen may be 15 minutes late opening, jungle critters may come to visit one at night - does it matter all that much? The staff (lovely lot, all of them) will do their best to make your stay enjoyable, the food at the restaurant is simply amazing, and the visiting crowd is mostly interesting, while at the same time not too numerous. One of the last enclaves of this kind of beach leisure in the face of Chinese expansion and never ceasing loud drunkenness of the siter island, Koh Rong.

Freedom Island has nice bungalows directly on the beachfront. It also sports a big pier where boats deliver crowds of day trippers directly in front of your bungalow, who then hang around there and ruin your quiet day at the beach. To be honest, we were there during the last days of the Chinese New Year, and I hope that there are fewer Chinese crowds at other times. But that was certainly a big downer which led to us leaving everyday before noon to get away from the day trippers. The beach is on the rocky side, and the water is quite muddy and there are lots of rubbish in it. We ended up moving to another resort in the middle of the bay. The personnel is nice enough, if somewhat clueless. English is limited, and our hut was not cleaned once. All in all, it is a very decent hut for a better price that you'll get anywhere on astonishingly expensive Koh Rong Samloem with a very nice view of the sunrise. If you don't mind the condition of the beach, the day tourists and a long walk home from the center of the bay, this might be for you.

It was quite a shock after check in to a tent, but after that we got use to a natural conditions and we liked it. Tent is simple, but with a fan, which allows to sleep well. Belongins are good to keep in a restaurant safe, so all to do in Koh Rong Samloem is resting at a beach, reading or small hikes to a various beaches. Good snorkeling or diving around the island. When the weather is nice, it is really a great experience to stay at Koh Rong Samloem for 2 - 3 days.

First, the location on the island is great, near a small village with a lot of options for food, drinks and activities, not far from beautiful beaches and snorkeling spots. We stayed in both deluxe and regular bungalows, both are really nice in their own style, and in quiet area. The view from the bungalows and restaurant is beautiful, directly on the sea, especially for sunset of course. The food at the restaurant (fish, seafood, french) is delicious ! The owner and staff are more than welcoming and helpful! Perfect place to stay in Koh Rong Samloem.

We arranged a pickup from Saracen bay and when our ferry arrived from Koh Rong, the staff was already waiting for us. Arriving at the the bungalow we were greeted and welcomed by the staff and was given all the information we need for our stay, also to feel free to ask them if we need anything. Facilities -They provide kayaks, mask and snorkel, swimming goggles, badminton, frisbee and books for free which was very helpful. It’s a very quiet and peaceful environment and most of the times you are the only ones on the beach. Sun beds are provided as well. Bungalows - It was clean with few amenities and towels and they also provide hot showers which came as a pleasant surprise. Water pressure was strong too which was nice. WiFi in each room and worked all the time except when there’s power cut but wasn’t too long usually. Love the veranda with comfy cushion chairs overseeing the sea where I spent most of the time reading a book. Restaurant - good variety of food and was very tasty. Very polite kitchen staff as well. Prices are reasonable at 4-7 USD for main dishes. Overall a very nice experience. We had a relaxing time in sandy beach bungalows and we definitely recommend you to come here! Don’t expect luxury but it’s more than adequate for a comfortable stay here. Thank you!!
