"I booked just one night in a single room but I can tell is a nice place. Perfect to visit the two famous shrines in and nearby Ise-shi, is very near two train stations and the aforementioned cultural area. Also the town is little but kind of nice. The guest house is a cozy and warm place, full of atmosphere especially evening time. Essential but nice room with tatami and futon, slept well. Shower and toilet ok (they even have Toto!) Large kitchen with free coffee and tea. Last but not least everyone is friendly and easy going. Would return there again."

"A very short walk so it is very convenient. Check-in is on the 2nd floor. Very nice hotel with great friendly, helpful staff. Basic amenities such as hand soap, razors (he- she(pink)), combs etc. They also have a colored pillow amenity rack. Elevators require the use of the electronic card which selects the floor for your room automatically. Rooms are not as crowded as the older business inns. A humidifier was in the room. Large flat-screen TV mounted on wall and nice counter space for working on computers. 6:30 a.m. healthy Japanese breakfast buffet requires a coupon. It also has a "YU" or hot spring public bath with separate areas for men and women."

Essential Travel Tips for Your Ise Japan Adventure

Traveling to Ise is an exciting experience, and being aware of local customs and etiquette can enhance your journey. One important aspect of Japanese culture is the emphasis on respect and politeness. When visiting shrines, it is customary to bow slightly before entering and to observe silence as a sign of respect. Additionally, removing your shoes before entering someone’s home or certain traditional accommodations is expected, so it’s a good idea to wear socks or clean feet.

Learning a few basic Japanese phrases can also make a significant difference. Simple greetings like konnichiwa (hello) and arigatou gozaimasu (thank you) can go a long way in showing appreciation for the local culture. Most locals are friendly and willing to help, so don’t hesitate to ask for directions or recommendations. Carrying a small phrasebook or using a translation app can be handy for more complex conversations.

When it comes to dining, be mindful of local dining etiquette. It is customary to say itadakimasu before meals and gochisousama deshita after finishing your meal to express gratitude. Tipping is not customary in Japan, so simply showing appreciation through your words and actions is sufficient. Lastly, keep in mind that cash is still widely used in Ise, so having yen on hand for small purchases and local shops is advisable. These tips will help you navigate your Ise adventure with ease and respect.
