Where to stay in Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai hotels & accommodations
I have stayed at many hotels in Chiang Mai on business trips. This one was by far the best in the downtown area near the Night Bazaar. For me, location is very important in Chiang Mai. This is the best hotel in the location if you want luxury at a good value. The food here was very good also. This was our first time taking young children with us to Chiang Mai...
Although very quiet when we travelled, the rooms are great value for money and I would definately stay there again
It was hard to find a hotel which accommodate 4 people before going chiang mai. U Nimma Chiang Mai was only one options I can choice and it has been found that it is the best hotel in chiang mai since gool locations and reasonable price ( considering facilites) and kind staffs as well. but if you have plan to enjoy swimming pool you will be a bit disappointed due to ...
Thank you Chala No 6 for a fantastic stay in Chiang Mai. The hotel is not only well located in the old city , it also has a team of wonderful staff - from the front desk to the cleaning team. The front desk staff , in particular , Ms Cartoon (front desk assistant manager) is an exemplary example of traditional Thai hospitality. Despite a very frustrating experience wit...
Ran into some minor issue like door lock and a Jacuzzi part that fell off probably because the hotel is over 8 years old and starting to show its age (but staff were quick and courteous in fixing anything that went wrong). There were also some ants at the sink, so some spraying might be needed. But other than those minor issues, this place was very impressive. The...
we live in dubai but we travel to chiang mai at least once a month as our children study in boarding school in chiang mai. we stay in many many highend places in chiang mai which were really nice and pricey. after we found "lotus pang suan kaew chiang mai" and stay here, it's just right about the location, safety, service and the hotel offer all guests free pick up fro...
From the moment we arrived at the Shangri-la in Chiang Mai we were made to feel at home. The staff greeted us, showed us to our room & spent the next two weeks treating us like family. I use the term family in the most sincere & respectful way. We booked ourselves into the horizon club & what we got was to say the least a very pleasant surprise, a sumptuous lounge to c...
In July 2011 I went to Thailand with my family, 2 adults & 2 children (5 & 12 years old. For our 6 day stay In Chiang Mai we chose the Raming Lodge based on the very positive reviews on Agoda. The positive rating of this hotel turned out to be well deserved & the hotel was even better than expected. The Raming lodge was one of the best hotels of our Thailand trip. W...
we arrived late at night to panviman and we regret that we only had 12 hours of stay in this extremely beautiful hotel. first, our room, even though we had to walk up 4 floors, we were happy and was amazed by the room and its facilities. however the best comes in the morning when we took a walk around. the breakfast was great and the outdoor workout facility is very ni...
The hotel is very much close to Chiang Mai Night Bazaare where you can find good stuff for shopping... even though it close to shopping area but it is not that close so that you are still able to enjoy your privacy... the hotel situates close in the inner city so that if you drive a car overthere, you need to plan ahead due to Chiang Mai traffic sometimes gives you a h...
1. Comparing with the other hotels in Chiang Mai, Kokotel's price is very cheap. 2. The location is far away from the Old Town (4km which is not able to walk under the hot weather). You always need to take the tuk-tuk or songthaew to the Old Town. The hotel is near the Nimman District and you are able to take a walk about 10 minutes to the Nimman District. The loc...
This big hotel has 17 floors and it is quite modern and luxurious. The rooms are way bigger than is normal in hotels in Chiang Mai. Our room on the 16th floor had a great view, and was just one floor below the rooftop where there is also a pool. There is another pool and a small gym on the 5th floor. There are some restaurants in the hotel, and two on the rooftop, of w...
We stayed at De Naga hotel a few days ago. We were in a deluxe double and the room was very presentable in traditional thai style, with modern fixtures and a nicely tiled bathroom. The hotel is in a really good central location, right next to Tha Pae gate. There are always tuk tuks and red trucks to take you around outside the hotel. One of the main things we rea...
We stayed at BED Nimman for 2 nights in early June at the recommendation of a friend and we couldn’t have picked a better place. The rooms and lobby are clean and modern and the extra touches make you feel very appreciated (free water that you can grab as needed, a lot of other hotels in Thailand had limits to a couple of bottles a day), the daily breakfast was also th...
We had stayed at At Pingnakorn Nimman before and this time in Chiang Mai we wanted to stay at their new hotel HuayKaew! We had three rooms and I must say that this is the best place to stay in Chiang Mai! New hotel, really nice design, big rooms with really spacious bathrooms. The pool and restaurant have a great atmosphere. Breakfast is Thai buffet - clean food! We wa...
This is now our favourite hotel in Chiang Mai -- having stayed 4 or 5 times at least. Great location in Nimman with all it's restaurants, cafes, bars, shopping and spas a short stroll away. Good staff, great parking (underground), fabulous modern, perfectly maintained and comfortable suite. Good breakfast. We will return many more times hopefully. Great value for ...
Can not say anything negative about this little gem of a hotel in Chiang Mai. Hotel is new, and staff are more than accommodating and exceptionally friendly. Hotel restaurant dishes also quite tasty. Location is convenient, not far from west gate inside Chiang Mai Old City. Will definitely consider staying at this one again next time in CM. Only slight drawback would b...
I stumbled on to this hotel by accident and I am so happy that I did! There were no rooms available at my normal choices of hotels in Chiang Mai for the date of my arrival. TripAdvisor led me to Apodo, who took care of the reservations and issued a voucher for the two days I planned on staying. I had requested an airport pickup and there was nobody at the airport wa...
There are plenty of cheaper places in Chiang Mai but that is not to say that Roseate was expensive. I found the hotel to be great value for money based on the above average standard and facilities. The room was a really good size so we could spread our stuff out and not literally have to live out of our rucksacks, also room service and fresh towels every day. In term...
hotel located in best location in chiang mai. very easy to access to many tourist spot there. very good for various type of the trip. i feel at home while stay there. this is my most favourite hotel in chiang mai i love to stay.
The room was very spacious for three pax, we had a lot of space for luggage and the toilet is huge with a big bathtub. The sink is outside the toilet, which is very convenient for travelers like us (we traveled as a group of three friends) and we could access the sink even when one of us showered. The floor to ceiling window opened up to a beautiful silhouette of the C...
Impressive design and service. Great location by the ping river and reflects the term of "sanctuary" claimed by the hotel. (own vehicle required to move around). Breakfast was one of the best we ever had with great selections - local and international, served by a la carte menu style (doubt if it will be too busy and slow in peak season) . Will recommend to anyone (alr...
I have stayed here during my Songran trip in Chiang Mai (13-15 Apr 17). Overall service is quite impressive and beyond our expectation a lot. Nice & welcome staffs always showed their willing to help us arranging things we might need and also gave us some useful advice about tourist attraction spot should not miss. The room (I chose Deluxe room) is new, clean, comfort...
This place was my favorite of all the hotels/air bnb’s I’ve hopped around in Chiang Mai. The room is minimally furnished, but has a desk and a place to put your things. The bed is the most comfortable I’ve slept on in Thailand, and the sheets are super soft. The breakfast was surprisingly good, with a choice of breads, salad, skewered pork, fried chicken, noodles, cong...
Canadian couple late 20s working remotely in Chiang Mai. Grand Deluxe room was spacious and clean. Epic floor to ceiling windows which roll open completely. Fast internet. Very good location, close walk to all Nimman's trendy cafes, restaurants, and shopping. Easy taxi to Old Town.
Amazing place. I walked in and felt like I was in a different world. Everything is meticulously designed and maintained. I love the concept of a vegetarian retreat too; for once, I didn't have to worry about any of the food ingredients. The food was also delicious! All the staff were really friendly and went out of their way to make our stay the best possible. I high...
One of the many nice boutique hotels in Chiang Mai. Inside the old city so easy stroll to Sunday Market, and plenty of taxis or tuk tuks just steps down the lane. Quiet, tucked just up a side street. Stayed there 3 nights this trip, as a "base" for side trips. Friendly staff remembered us each time and made us feel at home. Nice pool, large rooms and super bathrooms...
Tamarind Village was highly recommended by friends, as was booking the Lanna Deluxe rooms for additional space and light. However, the twin bedded rooms are not much bigger than the regular Lanna rooms, book a double with King sized bed for up to 50% more space! I questioned the room sizes with the staff towards the end of my stay and could have chosen an alternate roo...
It would have been perfect if their Breakfast was at the 5 star standard. Only two issues: 1. No instant coffee in the room nor coffee machine - only two brochures per day which we can order from coffee shop which opens 6 am. No brochures, have to pay 140 Baht for a cup of Latte. Either put instant coffee in the room or coffee machine as same as other 4 star hotels. R...
The Art Mai Gallery Nimman Hotel is located a block from Nimmanhaemin Road in Chiang Mai, a short drive from the airport. The area features many restaurants and shops. The Maya Shopping Center is a short walk away. Our room at the third floor, which featured Pop Art, was compact but adequately sized and very comfortable. The bathroom was well designed and relativel...
Cheap places to stay in Chiang Mai
Located next to the main temple and Sunday market. Nice staff with excellent service. High security with an electric lock. Will definitely stay here again for my next visit.
I really enjoyed my time in "@Lanna House". The stuff is very helping, the atmosphere is like home! I felt it from the moment I got there till the very last minute! Thank you very much.
The staff at this hostel are friendly and great. They bend over backwards to help. It’s location is a plus. I would recommend this hostel for your stay in Chiang Mai, especially in the Old City, An Elderly Backpacker.
It needs better locks on the room doors. Only few showers have warm water. It’s on a busy street so expect noise. But staff is great. Great area to party and enjoy the old city of Chiang Mai
I've never been to Chiang Mai. This hostel gave me good feeling. Counter was very kind. And the price was reasonable. I'd like to recommend this hostel.
Out of all the hostels I've stayed at in Asia, Monkey Toe is easily my favorite. Offering great value for the price. The common room area is large, making it easy to meet other travelers. The pool table is in great shape, along with the huge refrigerator you can use to keep your drinks cold. The owners keep coffee and snacks out all day. The rooms are great, with a cap...
I will always come back to Shun Lin when I am in Chiang Mai. The best staff, clean and safe dorms, and super easy to meet other travellers. Great location.
The place has probably the best value for money in Chiang Mai. The staff and owners are very friendly, ready to help and give advice on any questions one may have. There are great offers from the hostel for booking tours. If one does book a tour from the hostel then they give you a bonus of either 1 night free stay or many other various bonuses for doing so. I ended up...
I stayed in this hotel for five days to maximize my stay in Chiang Mai. The best thing about this hotel is the landlady and her staff who are all polite and easy to deal with. Coming from a stressful trip, she allowed me to check in early ( I emailed her a day before). There are no elevators and I was assigned in the 4th floor so i guess this is something that oth...
I've stayed in many hostels in my time, smelt some bad smells and experienced uncomfortable rooms but nothing has come close to the 'kozy hostel'. There is a lingering smell of sewage, the rooms are tiny with 12 people crammed in, we booked an aircon room and were put into a fan room. I don't want to sound like a snob I've stayed in fan rooms before but there was 0 cir...
The hostel is at good location. The owner Noi and staff are very friendly. Hostel is equipped with big and comfortable beds. It was very pleasant to stay at this hostel.
Being that this was my first time staying in guesthouse with shared accommodations, I was initially worried about the usual things that most worry about when sharing a room and amenities with strangers; two of the biggest things being cleanliness and ability to get along with those assigned to the room. All of my worries were quickly put to rest. The facilities at 168...
I really enjoyed my stay here, the owner and her husband is running this place and they are so awesome! I stayed here multiple times when travelling through Chiang Mai, extended every time. Maybe not the best place if you are looking to meet other travellers as they don't have much of a common area or any social events. They helped me rent a good cheap motorbike for...
The manager looked after me and was a great host
Well... This place was cheap, and in this case you get what you pay for... Here this means a bed in a dorm with no a/c and just one bathroom for ten beds. I slept in other rooms with no a/c and it was fine, but here the heat was stifling ... Maybe because of the humidity coming from the bathroom after a hot shower? My bed sheet had an old stain, too... However, staff ...
I stayed here for a short stopover in chiang mai and it was perfect for me. The new owners are very friendly and helped me catch a taxi to the airport the next day, at a local price. The location is very convenient - lots of cafes, massage places, and shops nearby. The room was basic but a great value for the cost!
I booked for 2 night ended up almost staying a week. The hostel is near all the nice things. The owners are really friendly and helped me out when I needed help! What I really like about the room is that you have your own cabin, and a locket for you whole backpack! If I ever come back to Chiang Mai I would stay here again.
Stayed in fan room number 9. Was there for 3 nights, no cleaning in the room, it was full of spider nets all over the place. I know the room was very cheap, but you can find better places for the same value in Chiang Mai.
There was a mistake with my reservation and although I had booked a room with AC I was told the mistake came from Agoda and I had to pay more to get it... The room was dark and shady, hot, and very noisy (facing the street with all the bars). Beds were awfully hard too (the mattresses are covered in plastic) and the bathroom was neither clean or conveniently designed. ...
I stayed over 2 weeks, and have only good experiences there! Most travellers are coming through pretty rapidly, so I had a chance to meet many new people who were all happy to chat & go out together. The bathrooms, common areas & dorm rooms were all kept completely clean. I booked my onward travel to Luang Prabang at the front desk with ease, & they had so many option ...
We stayed in two guest houses in Chiang Mai before we got here and we wanted to stay in the city 3 more days just to stay here. The place is extremely well equipped and besides all the basics you get mosquito nets in each bed, free coffee, tea or water, you can rent scooters and tours, in fact people that don't stay there come to get the tours because they are so well ...
-Great Location, no traffic noise at night -Stayed in a mixed dorm, majority of the guest staying here are male, but everyone was polite & friendly -It's quite a "social" place, if you prefer to meet up or hang out with other travelers, this is a suitable place -There are lockers inside the room where you can put your belongings inside -Air-condition is working well a...
This has to be one of the most welcoming hostels I have stayed in a long time. Its an a quiet neighbourhood and not suited for partying hard here, to chill out and have a chat in a homely feel hostel is the vibe here. The staff do an amazing job and will do whatever they can to make your stay in Chiang Mai enjoyable and memorable. The room was comfortable and no compl...
Had a wonderful stay at Mr Jack location is great being just outside the city gate, not too noisy but a stone throw away from the din of town centre! People are their greatest strong point with a cosy atmosphere and very friendly people! Information can also be easily obtain from the owner Gary and Rain can't have a better experience I would say great choice if ure up ...
It is the best choice if you are on a budget. Very friendly staff, very beautiful wooden house. We stayed in big room. I recommend it.
This hostel is quite nice, and I enjoyed my stay here while in Chiang Mai!
We really enjoy our stay there, it has a really convenience location and everything was clean
If you want to closely encounter some of the tropical traveller's worst enemies then don't hesitate to book this hostel! Bed bugs, mosquitoes, weird insects... you'll find them all there in your bed, the tiny bedroom, the showers and toilets... After two days in the hostel I started getting a huge and itchy rash on my back and other parts of my body. I didn't want to a...
My stay was great! I got in early to Chiang Mai and they let me move in at 9:30 AM! The staff was eager to book me tours or give me advice. I was even offered a volunteer job in a village for the weekend but had to sadly decline due to prior plans. The first couple days here I had the 8 person dorm room all to myself. It was nice but I prefer meeting other people hence...

We especially enjoyed this hotel, as it felt smaller and personal than some "boutique" hotels in Chiang Mai. The location is good, even though it is slightly outside of the old city. The best thing about the hotel is the space the room provides. It has a separate living area, kitchenette and dining table. The room felt cozy and we loved it. It is modern, chic and nicely decorated. Cons-- the bed was too hard for me, the pillow was not fluffy and the area of hotel is in the airplane path so now and then you hea...

This is probably the best neighborhood in Chiang Mai. And I'm Chiang Mai native. This small boutique hotel is located in a way less touristic area of Chiang mai but is still in a short-strolling distance to Chiang Mai main spots like the waroros market, night bazaar, Ta Pae gate and etc. There are lots of cafes, eateries, art galleries, and boutiques nearby. The hotel ...
...because the architecture, the location, the staff, are so great and my stay was so relaxing. So I will be a bit harsh on the the two points where I think this hotel fails very badly and, if amended, would make it really perfect: As pointed by many others, the morning breakfast is really poor. On the first day I picked Thai Breakfast, and it was the worst Thai food I...
i have stayed at different hotels in chiang mai and they all fulfills different needs. this hotel is in the middle of old town - close to everything. walking distance. it is new which normally, as in this case, means fresch. my room was nice and on ground level-perfect and close to pool. this is my first hotel in chiang mai with good internet. i missed exersice facitli...
i've been coming back to this hotel year after year. i'd have to say this is one of the best hotels in chiang mai, the staff really go out of their way to make you feel at home. the food is great, the service is great. there's even avis in the hotel if u need to rent a car. its location near the night bazaar and restaurants is great coz transportation is not that easy ...
I love this hotel. Three of us stayed at this hotel the night before our trek in Chiang Mai. We chose this hotel because it was close to the airport and got good reviews. When we checked in, there was some miscommunication and one of our friends didn't book a room. Even though the hotel was quite full, the super friendly staff quickly found a room for him, and with...
Definitely the best in Chiang Mai! We tried 3 different hotels in Chiang Mai, and sent the "honeymoon couple" request at booking. The Rim is the one which really makes our stay special: upgrade to deluxe room, quite corner location, 2 free drinks at pool bar(colorful & good-taste!) and a B5 size honeymoon chocolate cake surprise when we had our 1st breakfast!!! The b...
We have stayed in several hotels in Chiang Mai over recent years and this is by far the best experience. The buildings are of traditional design with lovely grounds, surrounded by very mature trees. It's easy to imagine that you are in a forest rather than in the middle of a city, a real oasis of calm. The rooms are splendid, with hand painted scenes on the walls. It h...
Chiang Mai can get real expensive during the high season, but this hotel is one of the rare finds when you're not looking to bunk with strangers in a hostel. Located a bit outside the city center, you can definitely find all you need for a good night sleep. The staffs are super friendly, rooms are clean, and the location is peaceful and quiet. There were a few flaws ...
This was a great find for us. We have stayed in Chiang Mai before in a similar location, but the Suriwongse Hotel is great value for money. The accommodation is excellent! We were upgraded to a Suite on the sixth floor which was very well appointed, comfortable and the room service, just great. The location, right in the middle of the night markets and within easy w...
Although I travel a lot, the Rachamankha is easily the best hotel I have stayed at in Thailand, and perhaps anywhere. I lived in Thailand for over a year so am familiar with Thai service and food, but the Rachamankha topped any experience yet. The owner is apparently a Thai architect who has restored the building carefully, and who uses the hotel and the gallery to...
I stayed at De Chai the deco for 3 nights. I have to say that this is the best De Chai compared to the other De Chai hotels in Chiang Mai that I have stayed in. The staff speaks very good english and are always providing advice on where to go, and how much the fares should be. When we bought some apples from the open air market and tried to borrow a bread knife from...
I got a free upgrade to suite room with a very nice river view. I will definitely come back to this hotel next time I visit Chiang Mai :)
Simply great. Everything exceeded my expectations. The rooms are super clean, everything works, the pool is wonderful, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is extensive. Also, the bed deserves a medal. It's the comfiest thing I've slept on in years. Hands down the best place I stayed at in Chiang Mai, and cheap too! If you're considering Buri Siri, jus...
We stay her for 2 night and it was great. The hotel is located in the center of Chiang Mai not far from Airport. The room is clean and comfy. The stuffs are the best thing of this hotel. They willing to help you everytime we ask. All in all, i strongly recommend this hotel for the one who looking for a nice hotel in Chiang Mai center.
This is an awesome hotel in chiang mai a short walk to the old city and right by the night market. Its set down a side street and sometimes taxis had a fun time navigating the back roads, but nothing bad. The room was comforable and the bed especially so, although being low set stbbed a toe on it in the dark. The night market is wonderful to see and experience but t...

It's really a wonderful experience in Na Nirand. We got free upgrade so as to be able to enjoy private pool. My boy was really excited about that. For that, my boy kept telling us he's missing the hotel until we got home. So we definitely would consider Na Nirand if we go to Chiang Mai next time. From the 1st day we checked in hotel to the last dat everything is exc...
I stayed 3 nights in Tamarind Suite. Room was spacious and nice. When I was considering about booking this room, red wall over the bed was quite annoying but in reality it was not a bit.(Red in pics is quite bright than really is) All staffs were very kind and ready to help. Swimming pool in roof top was not huge but big enough to relive stress and enjoy sunlight of ...
Chedi Chiang Mai was a very positive experience for me. A friend of a friend recommended it and I became very well impressed. To start the staff exceeded my expectations from the moment I've stepped in the hotel. I let them know previously that I would be check in late and when I arrived they not only were waiting for me but also had upgraded my room to a more luxury...
the hotel is about a 1 hour drive away from chiang mai, we paid baht one way for a normal taxi. the location is perfectly quiet and idyllic but very remote. so for people who don't like relaxing with a good book and need the action - stay in chiang mai. there are a lot of elephant camps in the vicinity and it's fun to watch them walk by. the hotel has 2 huge pools and ...
We had a short 3 days, 2 nights stay at this hotel. Its worth every penny based on rates on Agoda. The hotel is just like their website and the staff are all very friendly. Based on the rate we booked on Agoda, the staff told us at check in that the breakfast on the last day won't be included and we had to pay extra (it whould have been annoying if we needed the bre...
Former Chiang Mai Famous Flower Garden 'Krisdadoi' creates new shape of presentation with Western + Homie Style of Lanna Taste with Authentic Forest and Florist in Chiang Mai
after leaving bangkok to discover thailand's north, rarinjinda was a refreshing resort to escape the big smoke. in a fantastic location by the river, it was an easy walk to the centre of chiang mai but far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle of the local markets at night. don't think that this resort is secluded though. there are some great restaurants on th...
My wife and I have a multimillion dollar spa chain in Thailand and is our favourite hotel in Chiang Mai when we come for business from Bangkok. We prefer it from every other 5 star hotel in Chiang Mai because it is friendly and clean. The breakfast is very adequate and I recommend this for anyone on business.
This is the 3rd time we have stayed at the D2 Chiang Mai hotel. It does not have a "colonial" charm like some other hotels in Chiang Mai but is of esthetic modern design. As we are always for work in Chiang Mai and not for pleasure we especially enjoy staying at this hotel. Rooms are clean and have a shower stall which we prefer over a bathtub. Only negative, the TV fl...
We were overwhelmed by the 5 star quality of the service and the friendliness of the staff. The room and grounds were immaculate. The bed sheets and towels were so soft. Our room had one of the best bathrooms we’ve ever seen. The staff provides daily water bottles and chocolates as well as updates regarding the whether. The pool and spa services were fantastic. Daily b...
Anantara Chiang Mai is becoming my hotel of choice when I'm in town. It is peaceful, quiet and just esthetically pleasing property.
Definitely one of the very nice hotel and value for money 5 star hotel in Chiang Mai. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Though slightly far from city center, there's a very nice Taiwanese-like night market just in front of the hotel with lots of local finger food and bazaar stuff to shop for. Room is nicely decorated and comfortable. There's also Carrefour not far a...
Thanks for these gorgeous 24 hours in this tiny part of Japan hidden in the mountains next to Chiang-mai. It was our first encounter with the Onsen phenomenon. Accompanied by great food, amenities and service, this magic stay will be remembered with the warmth. We will definitely come here again.
I am usually highly critical of hotels, but I have amost no negative comments about our stay at 137 Pillars. If I were to be very picky, I would say the breakfast buffet selection is one star off of stellar - especially in the selection of fruits, which one would expect to be broad and exotic. The items to order on the menu, however, were tasty and imaginative. The ...
We stay in Sibsan for 5 days with kids of 7 and 9 and it's our favorite hotel during our 14 days trip of Chiang Mai. The room and swimming pool are amazingly gorgeous and the staffs are very poliye and friendly. I can feel that the manager put a lot of efforts to the resort from quickly relying my mails to the beautiful flowers in vases in the resort. And special thank...
The house is a but older than we expected. But the service is excellent!!!! Both villa manager and the housekeeping lady were superb! They helped take care of our stay perfectly and we have no worries for our holiday in Chiang Mai!! Highly recommended to tourists travelling in a big group to stay here!!
The outstanding part of a boutique hotel is service and Chiang Mai Riverside is excellent in service. All staff are very accomodating. The hotel is new. It is tastefully decorated. Things used are all of high quality. The bed and pillow are very comfortable. Everything are kept very clean and in very good condition. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed. High privacy. W...
If you’re thinking of where to stay in Chiang Mai, this is it. Stop looking. The property, staff, accommodations, and attention to detail were world class. I was sick and they were so accommodating, even bringing me fresh sliced ginger tea to the room. Anything you ever needed they were ready and willing to help. The grounds were immaculate and serene. Has a total zen ...

Chiang Mai is quite a pleasant city but with a lot of traffic during day time. The area within the old city walls are good to walk around absorbing the city life and visiting numerous temples.
A very different city compared to Bangkok. People are much friendlier and have a very different attitude towards tourists.
Peace and super clean city. Has many activities to do like trekking, drafting, jumping bungy etc... Food is very cheap and deliciuos.
chiengmai province is one of a beautiful romance and lovely country of thailand you will see a lot of amazing things there such as temples foods beautiful natural place elephant villege that will make you can not forget it espectialy the friendly people there.
Peaceful city. Nice place for switching off your brain for few days, self-drive friendly and a lot of hawker food bazaar around.
I Really liked Chiang Mai, it was a total change from what I experienced in Bangkok & Phuket. The people were really friendly and didn't hassle you for money.
Small narrow roads everywhere you go, several taxi and tuk tuk all over, food is excellent, food vendors on every street, several malls in the area.
the tuk tuk / taxi price is not standard sometimes, i usually would ask local hotel staff the price as reference in advance
very nice city... much slower than Bangkok, easy to move around and able to join many outdoor activities, excellent.
Efter at have fejret jul i Bangkok var det dejligt at genbesøge Chiang Mai til nytår og at komme ned i gear i denne rolige by
Chiang Mai is now a very diverse city. Every year I travel to this city and slowly seeing this transition.
If you enjoy trekking, elephant camps, and drinking, this is your place. Having said that, you can enjoy all of these activites equally in Chaing Rai, for much less money, and also enjoy the White Temple, Golden Triangle, and the summer palace of the King's mother (a truly remarkable woman!)
Beautiful and good weathered City in Thailand to visit between November to January for the cool weather.
Loved Chiang Mai - best part of the visit was visiting the Elephant Nature Park and walking the night market and culinary food tour of the night market
Hi, Chaing Mai is a peaceful city. Everything are very slow, it will be suitable for someone who need the fresh air and low noise
It is easy to get around and explore alleys because the old city perimeter is aligned to the north. Asian families would probably prefer the north west side of the old city (Nimmana)
Chiang Mai is very relaxed and enjoyable with many varied activities to choose from, a regional cuisine that is distinct from southern Thailand and great night markets.
Nice place and very different setting from bustling Bangkok. Beautiful Temples, Mountains to trek and lots os spas and massage.
I like this small city, it is quite and you can spend time in the city as you enjoy the local spa or you can walking around the mountain.
Very lively city, a lot to see and do. Great cooking classes. Main thing to know : tourist must stay in the city as city traffic management is verypoor : red lights take between 3 and 4 minutes, as a result it can take 45 MINUTES TO ONE HOURS FOR A MILE !
Beutiful city, warm welcome of local people, weahter is chilling during december and january. Relaxing.
A huge range of activities in and around Chiang Mai, which will suit all types. Rivers, Mountains, Caves, Gardens, Elephants etc etc Often changing, so best to consult local tour operators.
Chiang Mai is the base to go do many different outdoor activities in the mountains and the countryside: hiking, rafting, climbing, kayaking etc.
Chiang Mai is a hub of many surrounding destinations. The airport is wonderful and modern and the transportation to and from is easy and affordable.
If have time, suggest to go up on hill in winter season and stay there for few days, natural view, weather, local food and friendliness of people
One of the most beautiful cities I have visited. Lots to do and see whether shopping, night life, dining, and massages for relaxing.
Chiang Mai is most beautiful city, you can enjoy with every place and have many activities around there especially about cultural and traditional.
great place to visit the sites but I recommend renting a car with a GPS to get around in. The city can be a little confusing without a GPS.
Love Chiang Mai but the decision to close bars at 12am spoilt this trip for me. During the day I am busy enjoying al the activities in the area and like my wee snooze before I go out socialising but by the time I had dinner then on to the bars I was left with about 2 hours max .
Nice place for those like to eat and enjoy coffee, there're a lot of coffee shop, restaurants and dessert shops in Nimmanna Haeminda Rd.
