Traveling to Indonesia? Find Balikpapan hotels

I was hoping there would be pork products at this hotel. All the other high end hotels in Balikpapan provide pork products. It is sad to pay extra money for a hotel and have beef bacon with your breakfast. I know there are cultural considerations, but Balikpapan has a massive expat community and if they want to attract expats, they need to cater to expat needs. Yes, this is a small issue, but when you already struggle to find expat things in Indonesia, it would be nice to have those little things when you go to a nice hotel.

me and my friends were having a nice stay at platinum hotel and convention hall balikpapan since we were going to a concert near the hotel. platinum hotel provided a clean and comfortable room, nice toilet with a big mirror in it (I love the mirror lighting) and complete toiletries for the guests. the air conditioner was not cool enough even tho i set it at the lowest temperature, so that was a little bit disappointing for us. overall, we had a great experience to stay in platinum hotel! thank you.

After a long day at work, it feels great to return to Le Grandeur Balikpapan Hotel. Because of the location, it is quiet and relaxing. Before dinner, I will take a stroll down the beach, to clear my mind. Le Grandeur also offer a very comfortable living environment. Big and comfy bed and satellite TV with a large variety of channels to choose from. They also have a well equip gym with professional gym trainers to assist guest and give advise on how workout could be carry out more effectively. I really enjoy my stay in Le Grandeur and I will choose Le Grandeur when I visit Balikpapan again.

We were in Balikpapan just to spend a few days in the city. We realised the city did not have much to offer in terms of tourist attractions, and the interesting ones require some distant travelling which we weren't keen about. We finally decided to stay in most of the time, treating the hotel as a home away from home, and with ample desk space, an office away from office as well. The vicinity had plenty to offer in terms of sundries and meals, with KFC just a short walk away and McDonald's, Coffee Bean and Starbucks across the main road at Plaza Balikpapan. Plaza Balikpapan is a shopping mall where you will also find some pharmacies, a Chinese restaurant, sports goods store, book shop, and others. A good massage place is also just about 100 m walk from the hotel lobby. Wifi was good, as well as TV channels. We love that the bathroom facilities were top notch. Meals in-room were reasonably priced, and hotel staff were very polite.

This hotel has perhaps the best location for someone who wants to be close to the best restaurants and shops in Balikpapan City Center. 5 minutes walk from Balikpapan Plaza, 7-8 minutes walk from Ocean's (Best restaurant in Balikpapan, and very cheap as well), and a 10 minutes taxi ride (30,000 IDR) from BSB/E-Walk (Biggest shopping centre in Balikpapan). Right next to this hotel is Balcony city but it's almost empty, other than a KFC and a few smaller food joints, so unless you just need a quick snack, you'd better head to Balikpapan Plaza, an easy 5 min walk westbound on Jenderal Surdiman Road. The rooms were big, clean, and the staff was extremely nice. Included breakfasts are good, and the beds are very comfortable too. I got a room in this hotel for a very good price (40$ a night for Deluxe Room), and I can confirm that it is an excellent choice for this price.

"Where is Swiss - Bellinn Balikpapan? " - That was my very first question as soon as I arrived in Balikpapan at 2 am on the morning after a long road trip. This hotel is somewhat uneasy to find, and their address 'at Sudirman Square' Balikpapan is not a common spot place for Balikpapans. This quite shocked me, because I expect with the address of 'at Sudirman Squaee Balikpapan' - I'd be get to this hotel easily. But soon after got misplaced several times - including got into the unfinished Swiss Belhotel Balikpapan, I finally arrived at the hotel. The welcoming greetings of the staff was great - even it was 2 am in the morning. The service was quick, efficient and very hospitable. Although I got no welcoming drinks as promised. For a quick business trip, the room is quite comfort, adequate and valuable at the same time. The ammenities was enough and comfortable as well. The flexibility service from the hotel staff was the best of all. They could arrange an early breakfast time and airport shuttle for me before the scheduled time. All of these come in a quite accessible area - close tondowntown, airport and harbour - despite of the fact it is unknown to locals and it is also placed next to a karaoke that seems to be improper.

fast service upon checking in, bellboy was ready and prompt during checking in and checking out, taxi is always ready on call and comes within 5 minutes, room is reasonable size and offers good view of the city skyline - my room at 4th even had seaview, free wifi is available and connection can be done from room and lobby, toilet and shower is clean, water pressure is strong. the only hickups but are commonly found in other hotels in balikpapan and all over indonesia - there is no no-smoking room and the warm water is only goes up to 20c temp max.

The location of this hotel is in prime zone. Located inside the entertainment complex. Where this hotel just next to big shopping mall and apt building and also soho (ruko). Very easy access if you want to grab a meal. Just jump to shopping mall infront of the hotel. And there a lot of entertainment stuff u can go. The location is spot on. Will come back to stay here, if coming up to Balikpapan for sure.!!

Room clean. Great to have kettle, coffee etc and toiletries. Cable TV in English and many channels to choose from. Breakfast excellent for Asian or Westerner. Staff very, very good from reception to kitchen to cleaning staff. Location is about 2 kms from Balikpapan plaza but can get local bus on the road very cheaply. A supermarket is within easy walking distance. A couple of excellent places to eat over the road particularly the seafood place. Lots of local places too. We hired motorcycle from friend of receptionist so we’re able to get around the town easily. Traffic not too busy for big town. Souvenirs hard to come by but we got a few things at airport on departure. We enjoyed a 6 night stay at the hotel and have no negatives at all ( except Agoda ad said there was a pool and there wasn’t) Anne and John Australia

We stayed at the ibis for two nights in Balikpapan. We chose it because we could use the facilities of the Novotel for half the price. It didn't disappoint. I was soooo impressed with the staff!!! They were so helpful spending an hour helping us set up our tour of the nature surrounding Balikpapan. There is one thing that you should not miss if you visit Balikapapan, Samboja orangutan sanctuary. From the Ibis it is a 200,000 rupiah taxi each way and you need to call ahead to the lodge to schedule a tour (550,000 rupiah a person) OR stay a night at the lodge (855,000 a person/night) and enjoy a free tour plus three meals included. Samboja was the best place I had ever been!!! Baby Orangutans in diapers!!!!! I will never forget my time in Balikpapan, especially the staff at the ibis, who made everything happen for our unforgettable trip!!! Especially Lucia, she was the best hotel reception lady I have ever encountered!!! If you are in Balikpapan for business the security was supurb! The gym was stocked with brand new equipment and was immaculately clean. The pool was beautiful!!! The staff=AMAZING!!!!

so far this is the best hotel we've ever been stay in balikpapan via agoda, nice room, good service, delicious breakfast and pretty swimming pool satu-satunya mslh adlh kami datang saat libur idul adha yg long weekend, jadi semua tempat belanja sekitaran hotel tutup semua (mal juga tutup! ) dan mslh lainnya adlh klo mau jalan2 ke pusat kota jauh banget euy but so far we've no complaint about this hotel

we arrive after a severe trafic congestion, much worst then in kl. do expect that in balik papan or anywhere else in asia cities. receptionist was friendly and helpfull. to my suprice the manager is a profesional engineer. doesn't he get a better job in balikpapan. i'm travelling with 14 other friends on family visit in banjarmasin. my elder who's 74 years old complaining of poor stairs to his big room on the 4th floor. he settler for smaller room on lower floor instead.

It looks like an early 90's museum piece, and is a little beat up, but don't let that deter you - spacious rooms, great water pressure in a wonderfully hot shower, big clean firm beds, cold air con, quiet rooms, curtains so thick you'll never know it's daytime, free snacks and water in the room, responsive housekeeping. I stayed a few days for a wedding nearby, then took the 20 minute walk to the airport for my flight, no taxis involved! Ugly but she's got it where it counts. Hard to beat for $15 a night.

The location of the hotel is centrally located in the heart of Balikpapan. 5 minutes walking to the Balikpapan Plaza and Balcony City (two of the shopping areas in Balikpapan). Easy reach by public transportation. The room was so clean and comfortable and also equipped with wifi. There`s no breakfast in here but you can find easily outside the hotel. There`s no toileteries kit but you can rent for Rp 20.000,00/day.
