“Our First time experience at Canyon Cove”
Our First-Time Experience at Canyon Cove It was our first time at Canyon Cove, and we had a great time! We stayed for one night, and the whole experience was very enjoyable. Upon arrival, we were greeted with welcome drinks on the side. Although the standard check-in time is 3:00 PM, they allowed us to check in early at 1:00 PM since our room was already ready. A ₱2,000 refundable security deposit was required, which was returned during check-out. We chose a room with a pool and beach view. The room was very spacious and came with a king-sized bed. Toiletries were complete—there were toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, cotton buds, and tissue. The room also included coffee, creamer, sugar, an electric kettle, and two small bottles of mineral water. A mini fridge was available, where we stored our 6-liter water container and soft drinks. The split-type air conditioner was slightly leaking, but manageable—they provided a floor towel for it. Wi-Fi was stable, which was helpful since Smart and DITO mobile signals were weak. The room also had cable TV, a safety deposit box, hotel slippers, and laundry bags. The only downside was the room phone, which wasn’t working—though reception could be contacted easily via Viber (details were provided at check-in). The beach had clean, cream-colored sand. My son enjoyed it so much! However, I felt slightly unsafe because the jetski activity area was quite close to where people were swimming. I also recommend swimming face-down, as small algae particles from the floating inflatables caused some itchiness. Those with sensitive skin might develop rashes—as I did with some small patches on my face—but they disappeared after rinsing with fresh water. The pool was large and heated, and again, my son loved it! Our package included a free breakfast buffet at Island Café, available from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM. The food was okay and very filling, and the restaurant was air-conditioned, which made for a comfortable dining experience. Upon arrival, a promo staff member in the lobby offered us a free dinner buffet in exchange for attending a 1.5-hour membership presentation. We declined, as our baby was already enjoying the pool during the dinner schedule. For dinner, we took a tricycle to the bayan (town center), which cost ₱150 one way. There, we saw bus terminals, the city hall, and several fast food chains like Jollibee, McDonald's, and Mang Inasal—we chose to eat at Mang Inasal. Note: Outside food isn’t allowed in the resort, but water and bread are okay. We brought in a 6-liter container of mineral water. We also had soft drinks, cup noodles, and chips in our bag, which we were able to consume in our room. At check-in, we were given two room key cards and two towel cards. You can borrow beach towels using the cards and must return them after use. On Day 1, we returned the towels after swimming. Before check-out, we used the towel cards again since we planned to swim some more. We also rented a locker near the pool area for ₱200, with a ₱500 refundable deposit, so we could store our belongings after check-out and still enjoy the facilities. Overall, our experience at Canyon Cove was definitely worth it! The amenities, cleanliness, and comfort exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend this resort to families or anyone looking for a clean beach getaway—no boat ride needed!
