Wonderful snorkeling and also relaxing”

location, dive/snorkeling boat staff, room and pavilion with fantastic view, intereting guests and staff

We enjoyed everything about our 3 days at Bunaken Island Dive Resort. It is easier to use the private boat to get there from Manado, but if you have the time and want an island experience, take the public boat (near the fish market) with the locals. However, departures times can be inconvenient or impossible according to your schedule. We were happy to go snorkeling when the dive trips were near snorkeling sites. Diving is really king here. Very friendly staff. Lots of food 3 times a day. Lovely bungalows in Minahasa style on stilts to catch the wonderful breezes. It's a place to treasure while the environment is still fairly clean.

Best resort on the island”

Lovely cottages, tasty/plentiful food, well managed

I lucked out with a last minute, day-before booking. I was resigned to taking a private boat from Manado port to Bunaken for 350,000 IDR but luckily the guys meeting guests were already in the port waiting for other guests and I just hitched a ride. Frank, the owner, has built an oasis on a hilltop with handsome Minahasa-style cottages with commanding views of the sea and Manado Tua, the volcanic island neighbor of Bunaken. I've not experienced other resorts but you can't go wrong with this resort. Food is always plentiful and very tasty! Bring your own liquor as they only have beer and you need to buy a whole wine bottle if you want some. My only issue is that electricity is available only after 5 pm when the generator is turned on. If you need it during the day you have to go to the dining area, but it's not always available there either. Power was unavailable in the entire resort for one day when I was there (I was told that the power connection to the mainland was cut off or something). The wifi device is on a pole beside the dining area so try to get a cottage that has unobstructed direct access to it.

Great location and diving!”

Beautiful view, nice accommodation, great people

Just returned from a fantastic holiday at the Bunaken Island Resort. Everything was just perfect, can't find anything to be less enthusiastic about. Accommodation is very nice and clean. The staff is very friendly and accurate. Food is always fresh and delightful prepared. The diving crew is very professional and spoils you. You don't have to do anything yourself, except enjoying and floating For me it were the most beautiful dives I have done up til now.

Perfect location for diving”

near diving spot and comfortable

we chose bunaken island resort for its location on bunaken. i did not regret my choice! probably the best resort on bunaken, very welcoming, near all diving sites, good food but nothing fancy -> only one restaurant/cantine, no tv, etc diving is amazing and to me that was the highlight of this trip.

I loved it here”

The food was the best food I ate in Indonesia. The staff were first rate. The attached dive resort, run by Sven, is highly recommended. The resort is a step up from the other resorts I visited on the island and as a result you pay a premium but for me it was well worth the extra. It affords it's guests privacy and the setup is more geared towards this. I would happily stay here again if I get back to Bunaken,

location staff and rooms

This is a wonderful hotel to relax and enjoy this beautiful island. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food produced in their kitchens was tasty and healthy. Plenty of chicken and fish but also good vegetable dishes. The rooms were lovely and a pleasure to stay in. The hotel was well run and the manager was warm and friendly and always available to deal with every request. I would recommend this hotel whether you are diving, snorkelling or just there to chill out.

Location, Location, Location”

Privacy, Peace, Tranquility

I wanted isolation and peace and got all of that except for when the pumps in the dive shop were running just below my bungalow. It's not really possible to snorkel here or enjoy the beach at all because (NOT THE FAULT OF THE RESORT), the garbage floats up to the beach. The poor guys below tried to keep up with it but it's a full time job. The other side of the island is a great place to snorkel. The dive boat was great!

Perfect relaxed location”

This place is so beautiful. I have not felt this relaxed in a while. The location is just off the beach with a great view or the lagoon and volcano. The resort is well thought out with a lovely dining area with a small bar and gorgoeus landscaped gardens. The rooms are amazing with a lovely bathroom. The staff made us feel very welcome and the food on most days was delicious. My only small issue was that there is no electricity during the day so if you wanted a cold drink you had to leave the resort and obviously no air con. Also on one day we had no water in the bathroom. Other than that the diving was great and so was our stay. I would definitely return.

Excellent with good and friendly staff”

Beautiful and scenic location, near to Marine park and nice accomodation

The hotel staff was friendly, Evelynn the Manager was a great host and we met up with Frank the owner. On our fist day getting to the island was a hassle but Frank managed to get in contact with us and we got good arrangement with Andy the boatman to the island and back, 45 mins each journey. We had a good guide Wengsi who brought us around to Bukit Kasih, lovely place for sightseeing. Perhaps the nice time when we come back, we like to spend more time snorking along the Marine Park. One tip to contact Wengsi on your arrival to arrange transport to island at +82 81341834988

Adequate resort in excellent location”

Location, good manager, dive shop next door

Perfectly good stay in divers paradise. Location is fantastic, stunning views from above the beach with a lovely house reef 100 meters from shore, followed by a fantastic drop off making for brilliant snorkelling. Most major dive and snorkel sites are also within a 10 minute boat journey. Other positives: Staff and food were both ok, manager Kim was extremely helpful and entertaining (even managing to get us into a fully booked hotel through his contacts for our next place) and the dive shop next door (ran by Sven and his team) was excellent. However, whilst food is pleasant it is not as amazing as other reviews make out, with inadequate portions of main dish on most days. Booking system is also chaotic. Most people we spoke with did not get the advertised ocean view they booked and consequently had to move one or two times during the stay to benefit from a better view (we were moved to a villa at the back so were compensated by more space for the lost view). Power is unavailable between 9-5, so even fans don't work which can be overbearing. Most worrying was the dangerously overloaded dolphin watching trip. Not the fault of the hotel to be fair, but accountability must lie with the people taking the booking and the money. Spending an hour bailing water out of a sinking boat that was double capacity with children on board but boasting only two life jackets, in 2km deep open ocean, is unacceptable and definitely not worth 60 EUR! Overall, a good stay thanks largely to Kim, but equally good and cheaper options are available.

Great views from the balcony of your villa ”

Well designed villas, big bathrooms, nice furniture, good dive shop

This is a small but great resort in a stunning location for those wanting to dive the Bunaken marine park. The management is a bit disorganised when it comes to pickups and transfers and noone really greets you when you arrive. the food while fresh and varied is often charred grilled to dryness (eg the fish was always overcooked) and quite repetitive if you are staying a week ( (eg very boring breakfasts). And best to bring your own spirits if you want to drink them as the fridge was stocked with empty bottles! . Overall i did love the thought gone into the design of the resort and would stay again. And Sven at the associated dive shop runs a very good operation.

Eco friendly, on site diving/snorkeling services, quiet area

Would have been nice to be informed in advanced of electricity availabilities via agoda. Not all activities available on island were informed by hotel staff (if they can be located). With wonderful views and location, owner needs to improve upkeep and maintenance of cabin/room (comfortable bed, bathroom amenities refilled and ready before guests arrive, broken window should be fixed, storm enforced windows at top of room would keep room better protected from the rain, NEW BEDS is a must since it was all just springs poking into our backs - torturous), fix the gap/hole within wooden viewing platform in hotel's restaurant (VERY DANGEROUS) and consider having staff on standby in restaurant area in case guest requires support.
