OK but the front villas are not worth it”
Great location and beautiful setting in front of rice field. Staff is very kind and food is good/ok. We paid extra to have the villa hoping we'll get a better view on the rice field but in fact the room of the villa does not have any view. You have to go on the rooftop which is not very comfortable to relax (also that area gets quite cold and rainy.). Better to get the simple rooms and ask to have the one on top with view.

Nice stay!”
Great hotel at the countryside area. Blackout happened for around 2 hours, it affected the whole area around there. Thus, we had our "candle dinner" in the restaurant, the hotel was still able to serve our dinner with no electricity. No air-conditioner and ceiling fan provided, only standing fan was provided in the room, but it didn't cause any problem as the surrounding temperature was cool enough. I like the way the hotel served the breakfast. Breakfast was prepared according to our orders, no buffet style.

Batukaru Hotel”
Room Score 4 out of 10. No Air Conditioner, No Ceiling fan, Standing Fan only like at cheap hotel. Amenities Soap only no others not even a shower cap. a Villa without private pool. Bed was Good. Bathtub, Hot Water and Bathroom size were good. No ashtray. No Safe Deposit Box, No Mini Bar. No Water Heater (for Drink). No tea or coffee box Location Score 7 out of 10. Surrounding Area is good. But the streets to get there were extremely bad score 2 out of 10. Very far from activities and Market. Cleanliness is good. but since my breakfast was not cleared up until afternoon although room services have been cleaning my room. score considered low 5 out of 10 Staff most of them are polite but no bell desk to help and one of staff was pointing the way to us using left hand (considered very rude) during check in Bar and Restaurant are good. Food are Good, food price logic-able. WiFi are good but extremely bad during weather condition

Big comfort in the middle of nowhere, food could be better”
We are a coupe (M44, F38). We saw a few places in Bali (Ubud surroundings, Lovina, Tulamben, and the Rice Terraces region where Batukaru is located). Batukaru is by far the most isolated hotel we stayed at. It was kind of strange to be in this higher end hotel, in the middle of nowhere. The rooms are very spacious and highly comfortable. The view of the rice terraces in front of the hotel is pretty nice. The pool looks great, although it was quite cold (maybe due to the few downpoor of the past days). The food was ok in a meh sort of way, and slighty pricier than everywhere else. The temple a few minutes away by motorbike is very basic, and not much of a temple to see unfortuantely. However, the Rice Terrasses 25 minutes from there, our main reason of attending that property, was astonishingly beautiful. Know that the asphalt road that leads there looks like it came right out of a war zone as it is full of huge pot holes and rocks - a nightmare to drive in with a motorbike especially if you are two on the scooter. I am very confident as a rider on a scooter, but ended up turning back before reaching the rice terraces on our first attempt. That's how bad the road is. We ended up seeing them anyway thanks to the transport we hired from Batukaru to Lovina the next day (the driver took that route, and dropped us off for a 30 minute trek in the rice terraces, an amazing view!). Overall, Batukaru is not somewhere I would go back. It simply feels way to isolated. I would arrange to go see the Rice Terraces another way, without actually staying there for the night. But if you like to be completely isolated away from everything, and a little luxury is important to you, then perhaps this is a good place for you. Simply wasn't our cup of tea.

Good value, peaceful retreat”
My partner and I had a great stay at Batukaru Hotel. The staffs are very helpful and the meals were excellent for us as vegetarians. The location is very peaceful and feel like a retreat. The only downside (or could be a positive for some) is a very quite town, not much we can do as tourists to explore by ourselves. However, the hotel does organise trekking to rice fields and the mountain. Personally, we liked the rice fields in Batukaru much more then the touristic town of Jatiluwih. Batukaru shows the true and most beautiful side of central Bali. We will definitely like to visit the Batukaru hotel again!

Beautiful hotel & location but very remote”
The rooms and hotel is very nicely done! There is a restaurant on site but the food isn't very good. The hotel has rules about not brining outside food in and will charge you 50% of the value if they find out you did. Pretty harsh rules, they need a better chef if they are going to have rules like that. Hotel staff was helpful though especially the owners son who was there assisting during our visit. The only major downside about this place, beside the food, is the location. It is very far away from other things which makes doing activities a challenge. If you want to stay at the hotel and hang out at a beautiful location this is a great choice. As long as you're not picky about food.

Amazing place to stay ”
Great hotel to stay for a few days. The hotel is situated on the edge of Batukaru mountain and in de middle of rice fields. The view from our room was amazing, overlooking the rice fields. It is very close to Jatiluih. The room was nice and clean, and the food at the restaurant was good. Pool is nice too. They are working on getting some sun screens for the pool. Because the jungle begins right behind the hotel, there are some bugs.. but that is nature and part of the charm of this hotel. We would definitely stay here again

Ehemals schickes Hotel in toller Lage”
Pro: Wunderschöne Lage über den Reisfeldern. Tolle Aussicht vom Pool.
