Babak District - Samal Island hotels & places to stay

When in Davao City and we want to go to the beach, we stay at Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort. We know there are other resorts on Samal Island, but after enjoying ourselves immensely the first time we visited in 2009 we haven't had any need to stay anywhere else. Premiere Cottages have better amenities than the Deluxe Cottages and are closer to the beach and other activity areas. When informed in advance, the Resort can reserve either a single detached bungalow or a duplex for guests. Response to reservation inquiries is prompt although the correspondence could be less formal and more warmly worded. Room tariff does not include breakfast, but provides free or discounted use of recreational facilities at the resort. Tours of Samal Island can be conveniently arranged before or during one's stay. Expect service at the restaurant to be slow during peak hours as food is prepared fresh and cooked to order. Waiters may look at tad harried at this time but in general the resort staff are unfailingly polite. Some overly large posters that obscure the view of the sea from the cottages could be taken down but there really are no major complaints. We have every reason to come back.

i super enjoyed our stay in Chema’s.. location is convenient from city to samal island and they have their own boat service picking you up in waterfront hotel straight to chema’s, fare is enough for boat maintenance. Our cabana is the best, we dis enjoy the set up, the interior, the room, the bathroom and especially the little cabana where we can stay and chill outside the bedroom. The food is great, you know food resort cost something but it is worth it. The facilities of the resort is perfect, beach front, swimming pool which use sea water, those chairs and beach bed in front of the sea is relaxing. We did enjoy our stay. Just want to mention that staff in Chema’s, they are so nice and approachable. They have this positive vibe that shows respect to their guest and they are friendly. Shout out to Jenny, who welcome us in the boat deck. Shout out to Harold, who take our orders and drinks by the sea. To Irene, who serve our dinner and the pusit request, thank you so much. And of course to the person in charge in our Cabana for 2 night, thank you so much Lalang for the warm welcome, for all the request and query we asked, for the food and for assisting us until our last stay in the resort. I will recommend this to my friends, its kind of pricey if you will stay alone, better bring a group to enjoy the resort. I will be back and definitely come back to Chema’s... SOON!!!

The best feature of the resort is its location being situated at the side of Samal Ferry Wharf where you can catch a ride from Davao City to Samal Island. Agoda offered us 2 room option, hotel room or cottage. We opted for the hotel room. The hotel was spacious and clean. It has a nice open air balcony that has a view of the beach. The bathroom was okay. It's clean & has water heater. The facilities of the resort was relatively good. Although, the beach as enclosed, it's considerably okay knowing it's beside the ferry wharf. The swimming pools were nice too even the infinity pool was not so infinity. The staffs were polite, friendly and very helpful. They even assisted us with our baggages going to the wharf. The resort's food outlet offers a variety of choices. Food was relatively okay. Food prices was reasonable. The only downside maybe were the lack of wifi and intercom system. It's also hard to ride the ferry if you are with kids and luggages but that's not about the resort

The resort is large with a private beach and pier. The rooms are very clean. In fact the room I checked in would probably be the best among all resort rooms I tried in the Philippines. The employees are extremely kind and helpful. I took many pictures of their flowers and my friends said they were really beautiful. If there was a dive shop and a dive spot near by, it would have been the most ideal resort for me on Samal island.

If you are looking for luxury. Don’tcone Here. This is a quaint little place. The owner is friendly and accommodating. We rent the beach huts. Outside near the seashore. Bamboo beds with mats. Breakfast is good. The bar was right there and small store. CR? Basic Filipino style. The only downfall is this place is located between 2 resorts that blast their music ear deafening until late late night with no consideration to hotel guests sleeping. The owners are nice. It’s basic filipino style island living.

Pros: Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Food was decent and decently priced. Location was near to the ferry. Facilities were a mixed bag. Cons: No wifi. Despite the listing saying there is wifi in every room there was no wifi when I was there. Staff tried to help me out and gave me a sim card to connect with my phone though. Beach is not really good for swimming. No hot water in the shower. Overall it's a mixed bag. I expected more considering the price of the hotel. The staff really made the stay decent, as they were very helpful and accommodating to all my requests. Thanks to them.

The main front beach is really not pleasing for swimming but great thing is that they offer free boat transfer to take you to nearby island like vanishing island which is a very fun place to swim and take photos. The resort itself is really peaceful, has big rooms and great food and best of all the staff were very friendly and accomodating. Would recommend this resort when in Samal.

I thought this hotel was highly overpriced but had poor facilities. It's a waterpark with attractions like giant water slides, infinity pool, beaches, and it's located on Samal Island in Daveo. In an 8-week trip in Asia, this was the most expensive hotel I booked the entire time - and the worst. The beach is not clean and the water is dirty and cluttered. More than half of the waterpark attractions were closed for renovation. There is too much rubbish around the grounds (such as broken plastic chairs and other discarded items). After I'd been asked to order breakfast the day before, and ordered corned beef with bread and coffee, I was told in the morning that there was no corned beef and my order was served with rice, not bread, and Nescafe rather than brewed coffee. After arriving from the airport about 10:30, I waited more than 2 hours for the ferry to the island, as the ferry waits until at least 10 passengers are present. I will say the staff were often very helpful and accommodating, and generally friendly, so I give them credit for that. But the facilities are dreadful and the place is very expensive. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel i1 1/2 Kilometer from the only shopping plaza in 20 miles. it is just short ride to town that offers enough for one day trip. There is no night life except to swim or beaten old billards table. it was ideal as i went as couple and only had romance on mind We were allowed to use grill free of charge and cooked our own food. People were courteous and polite. So were the geusts for that matter! Had security but not needed

It was a perfect stay for the family as we have a choice to a lot of wonderful water activities, giant slides, kayak, water blob that comes with the package. Food is superb. Room has extra foam in case you are a group of more than 4 without charge. It'll be better if you stay there for more than a night. The resort is close to the Hagimit Falls, one of the places to go to in Samal Island, Davao. We would love to come back to the resort and have the reserved energy to be able to do all water activities they offer besides those mentioned above.

pro: beachfront free breakfast quiet and relaxing atmosphere- surrounded by Bermuda grass and coconut trees has sari sari store and restaurant towels looks new and cold ac 2 thumbs up for their very polite and accommodating staffs, thank you! cons dirty beach line, saw some diapers, not their fault since it may have come from waves, but i still cannot afford to swim in their beach, and a lot of sea urchins slow service for restaurant, BUT you can ask them to cook it ahead of time. we dropped by 6pm and asked to have our foods serve at 7.30pm and it was done. bring insect repellant rooms (sigay c) very small, no chairs and cloths hanger, water sometimes not strong and nowhere to put your soaps and shampoos. its one of the cheapest resorts in samal and the staffs compensates all the cons.
