we loved our stay here so much so that we wanted to extend our stay and cancel our other booking at a hotel in kuta. astana pengembak is located in sanur just off jalan ngurah rai by pass and jalan danau poso which is a continuation of jalan danau tamblingan(the main strip for hotels and eating joints in sanur). after being to bali many times and staying and visiting various locations throughout the island, we have come to conclude sanur is the best place to stay while holidaying in bali. the hotel bedrooms itself are built and furnished to a 5 star standard. we had our best nights of sleep here as it was quiet and the bedroom was very comfortable. our one bedroom suite even came with a furnished kitchen and cooking facilities. being on the ground floor, we had direct access from our bedroom to the swimming pool. the pool itself is more of a lap pool but it's big enough to accommodate many. the breakfast was a set breakfast choice between continental, american and indonesian menu. while some may find the breakfast a bit on the small side, it allowed us to enjoy other culinary on offer in bali without feeling stuffed from a normal buffet breakfast. on the negative side, one may find the hotel's location a bit secluded and far from the main action strip of jalan danau tamblingan or the beach. we didn't have a problem as we hired a car throughout our stay. however, given bali's relatively cheap taxi fare, this matter could be fixed easily. we will definitely return to astana pengembak for our next visit in 3 months’ time.

Lovely apartment/villa and service with a smile”
located on a small street, astana started my love for bali. with a very helpful staff and great service, the very new astana pengembak suite apartment & villa is the place to stay in sanur. the suite apartment contains a kitchen, living room, bedroom, closet, big bathroom with a comfortable bed as well as a public pool for guests. it certainly feels like a second home. there is free breakfast every day of your stay. you can either have it delivered to your room or one of the staff members can drive you to the restaurant or you can walk since it is a block away, less than a 5 minute walk. if you need to go further into town, a staff member can drive you there, but you'll have to find your way back albeit by taxi, "bemo" (minivans that can be rented and you can negotiate price) or walk back. the room is cleaned daily with towels replaced every day. anything you need, the staff is always happy to oblige.

Lovely quiet location with great service”
My daughter and I stayed at Astana Pengembak for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location just out of the main centre was ideal for those looking for peace and quiet. We had a downstairs 1 Bedroom room suite which was just perfect.The staff were incredibly friendly, courteous and eager to please. The shuttle bus into Sanur was terrific and we found the staff knowledgable about local attractions, restaurants etc. We would throughly recommend the Astana Pengembak to anyone. There were two slight donwsides however - one was that some of the rooms were being re-painted by a spray method(after only being open 10 months) and the paint fumes were overwhelming and widespread- especially when it was in the room next door. The other downside was that there seemed to be a chemical imbalance in the pool - too much acid perhaps - it was impossible to see underwater because of the cloudiness and the water burnt the eyes.

Best accommodation in Bali!”
We stayed at Astana apartments for two nights when we first arrived in Bali then the final two nights of our trip. We had a wonderful time here as the staff were so amazingly friendly, always smiling and helping us in any way they could, the restaurant had really good food both Indonesian and Western food to choose from, the aircon in the rooms worked so well we actually slept under a blanket, the security staff were really friendly as well, the beds were so comfy and the bathrooms were really nice, we had a very relaxing stay at Astana Pengembak Apartment Suite and Villas and we will defiantly stay here again when we return to Bali.

we stayed here for 4d/3n after having stayed in four seasons jimbaran. based on reviews, our expectations were exceeded--- new hotel, modern interior, functional kitchen, in-house restaurant (yes, in-house), and very warm staff. note: happy with the complimentary breakfast-of-your-choice. recommended are their nasi and mie goreng with good bali coffee. overall, we were very satisfied with our stay in astana pengembak as it felt like it was our own home in bali.

Our new house”
My wife, two year old daughter, and I found The Astana Pengbak on Agoda. Right away we received welcoming and wonderful vibes from the staff. Our room was on the second floor, and our daughter loved it so much that she referred to it as, "our new house." The girls at the front desk got a big kick out of that. We had a small kitchenette, large comfy sofa and cozy bed with nice down comforter and pillows, and a huge shower/bathroom/vanity area. The room was perfect for our needs. Every morning we looked forward to our breakfast. Some hotels you stay at, have very skimpy portions and no variety. That is not the case at Astana. The menu is very diverse and well rounded: so you get all of your food groups covered first thing in the morning. And good coffee-not just one cup either. We really enjoyed daily signing out a few of the bikes (free at hotel), cruising down to the beach, and seeing what all the Sanur area has to offer. The staff was very accommodating for us as well. Anytime we needed a car or motorbike to rent, they would have one there within the hour. I am being sincere in saying that this is the best hotel for the value in Bali! We loved it and will be back for sure!

Very good hotel and very friendly staff”
in september 2012 i booked three nights at astana pengembak suite apartment & villa. when you enter the hotel you are imediately blown away by the view over the rice fields. the apartments are very clean and the staff is very nice and they would like to help you to make your stay at the hotel a wonderfull experience. i would recommend this hotel to a couple but also to families.

Astana means homely ”
Sanur Beach us one of best in Bali. Hotel is located on a quiet side street. The free bicycles were helpful to get around - but cycles not very well maintened. As restaurant had no vegetarian options we cooked in the kitchenette. Food we bought at lHardys supermarket 2km north. Kitchen fan extractor didn't work but otherwise kitchen is very convenient . Outdoor pool is narrow but long and beautiful. However close proximity of others guests on their balconies can be disturbing if they smoke and talk loudly. We booked early and got a very good discount which made it very good for value. Staff very professional, polite & helpful which is not so common in Bali. Rooms have western decoration but generally clean & comfortable. Some maintenance is needed in some minor areas but generally we're well satisfied and if to go to Bali again we'll consider returning to Astana. In Sanskirt, Asta = home, astana = homely.

Lovely suite, great staff, quiet spot but not far”
I can't fault the place really, it's probably quite pricey usually but both times I stayed I got a big discount when booking through here, highly recommended. Hard to find the place though, they have white flags outside, but no sign saying 'Astana Pengembak' ! - worth the search to locate it though... Not tried the spa, room service food was pretty good and not too pricey.

We returned to Astana for a second stay after touring Bali as we were so impressed with the hotel on our first visit.although a little out of sanur central taxis are cheap. It is also a close walk to beach. Great value for money.

We were very pleased with our stay. We had a room on the first floor wich gave us direct access to the pool. The hotel was located a bit outside towm so it was nice and quiet. The hotel offered a friendly and free shuttle to town. Taking a taxi home was very cheap. The hotel also offered free bikes. A bike ride along the beach promenade is very nice. We can highly recommend a stay at Astana Pengembak.

Great family hotel in quiet area, close to beach ”
As a young family who goes to Bali twice a year, I'm so glad we found this hotel! It's in a quiet area on the bottom end of sanur but within walking distance of the beach. The facilities were perfect for us (2 rooms with adjoining door) and it was nice and quiet. A few restaurants within walking distance (but a restaurant in the hotel) and you'll need a taxi to get up to the main part of sanur. Highly recommend this place if you have young kids/older couples. We'll be back :)

We had a great time staying in Astana Pengembak. We stayed there for 2 nights. The room is clean & big. Most, in fact all of the staffs were quite friendly to us. They never fail to smile and greet. The pool is big and nice. My twin girls aged 10 had fun with the pool. Hotel location is quite far from shopping areas (Sanur centre). The hotel provide a free shuttle from the hotel to Sanur Centre.. But, need to check with the staffs first as during our stay there they didn't had any free shuttle so we asked help from the front desk staff to call cab for us and the cab will usually come 5-7mins. If need cab please use Bluebird Cab service. (Bluebird is the only trusted cab company in Bali as they use meters.) The beach is 20mins walk from the hotel. Beware of stray dogs or the guard dogs as they can be very fierce. 100m away from the hotel,there's a few local restaurant selling Nasi padang,fried rice,satay etc.. Night time there's nothing much going on there. The shops closed quite early and there's nothing to look ,shop or see after 8pm. It can get very dark. So what we did was chilled in our room watching dvd where we can rent FOC from the reception. The hotel was quiet throughout the two days of our stay there perfect for the four of us to unwind and relax as we were busy sightseeing and shopping in Kuta the few days earlier.

Astana Pengembak is clean and comfortable for my family with a young children of 3 years old. Although it is mot located near to the centre of Sanur, a shuttle service to the centre is provided. Staff were efficient and friendly as our requests were met promptly.

Beautiful apartments, amazing welcoming staff”
There were 10 of us that stayed in the two bedroom apartments at Astana, the staff were absolutely beautiful people, Rudi the manager was so helpful, the rest of the staff were really friendly and there was always someone at the front desk 24/7 to help you with anything you needed with a smile on their face. The aircon in the rooms is amazing, the bathrooms were beautiful, the beds were really comfy, the restaurant had beautiful food, there eggs were amazing, the buffet breakfast was all you can eat. The security guys at the front gate were really helpful and friendly. Overall we had an amazing time during our stay at Astana and we will be coming back to stay again very soon.

surprisingly amazing”
far away to get away from the hustling and bustling but not far away that you cant access the main strip of Sanur. Astana is tucked away in a side street, has a nice swimming pool and catches good rays, providing a relaxing stay. A short taxi ride/40min walk will take you to Senur's main street and the beach.

Big Comfortable rooms & Friendly staff”
Astana was very modern & clean with the house keeping more than once a day sometimes. The bathroom was suprizingly big and it was all within close proximity of the pool & restaurant. Staff very friendly and welcoming and were able to accomodate with lifts into the main part of Sanur. It isn't far from the beach and a cheap taxi if the staff can't provide a lift - although none of them really new where to go. The only downfall is the room costs for things like the mini bar, laundry and internet which we were charged 'service tax' on - although i don't recall any service from the mini bar, maybe i blinked and it moved for me? i don't know. Definately recommend the hotel though big and modern rooms and affordable price

Lovely hotel and service with a smile”
Staff were extremely friendly & lovely and the rooms are neat and comfort just like the photos. There's free shuttle to Sanur Central, but only 1 driver, do you've gotta book him in advance. Else its a 45 min leisure walk to Central. We took a shuttle bus there and walk our way back. We had some difficulty finding the place (no. 28) as there's no obvious numbering and name, we are gald we've got ourselve a good driver. The only setback is that although there's more than enough space in the bathroom/toilet area(they are seperated),but there don't seem to have hooks around to hang your clothes or stuff. Although ironing service is stated available, you need to pay :) There's no iron / board available. There are stoves and utensils & microwave, but there's no gas (gotta order I presumed)

5 star hotel with 2 star price”
I stayed at this very lovely hotel with my boyfriend. I have to be honest I wasn't expecting too much for the very affordable price but was pleasantly surprised. The room has very comfortable with everything required. Flat-screen t.v , Hairdryer, aircon nice bed-sheets and comfy bed with all the extras. The bathroom is very lovely with nice polished tiles. The bedroom has a little balcony that overlooks the pool. The outside area isnt exta large but I have to say is more botique in size. The breafast is average but nice. The staff were pleasant. I stayed at the mecure down the road but the rooms are not as nice as astana and more expensive. I have to say out of the three places i stayed i have to say this topped the list.
