Lovely Hotel and Best Service I have Ever Received”

Location, Service, Grounds, Quiet

My girlfriend and I were staying in Indonesia for two weeks. We wanted to see Uluwatu. We booked most of our hotels in advance and most were in the 4 star range. We booked this hotel last minute knowing nothing about it except that it was very inexpensive. We were fully prepared to "rough it" for a few nights. That was not the case. This ended up being the nicest place we stayed. The grounds were in excellent condition. The walk to Uluwatu from this hotel is an amazing one. Scooters or a driver were available on demand (driver was additional cost but VERY inexpensive) and the owners were some of the nicest people we have met. They assisted us in booking other travels throughout Indonesia and made everything incredibly convenient. At first were not sure what to do with our last night in Bali. After our initial stay here early on in our trip it became obvious that our last night would be spent returning to Puri Sugara. The only reason we did not give "Hotel Features" a 5 rating was because the hotel did not have a TV. While this was not an issue for us, it may be for some. Free WiFi however was available. We highly recommend this tranquil hideaway.

A wonderful relaxing surprise ”

1)Some of the kindest, most friendly staff from any hotel I have ever stayed in. 2) The gardens are beautiful and well taken care of; you feel like you are in an oasis. 3) The owners are super cool.

We booked one night online just to get a feel for Uluwatu, with the intention of switching accom the next day. We ended up staying here until the end of our trip! Our room was modest, pretty small and with fan, but that didn't matter. Our room was cleaned everyday, the bed was super comfortable (some of my best sleeps of the trip) the bathroom was clean and big, and we barely spent any time in the room anyways because the pool and garden areas were so nice we just spent most of our time outside. The location is a little out of the way, but we enjoyed that because whenever we got back from the surf or going out it was a wonderful relief to come home to such a comfortable and welcoming place.

great location but smelly bathroom”

friendly service, great location, beautiful garden

we like the balisness garden here, it's small but really beautiful and peaceful. the serivce is also friendly, both waiter and waitress always talk to you lightly with a nice smile, they even drived us to uluwatu temple when found we were tired to walk after back from the beach, although we finally found that the temple is really nearby to the home stay, maybe only 10-15 minutes to walk. only one thing we don't like here is the smell of bathroom, somehow to depress you even though the room looked clean.

Mixed feelings”

Without a doubt, the best thing about this place is the people that work there. They were so kind and helpful. The second best thing was the location to Uluwatu. It was just a short walk. It wasn't close to much else tho and after 9pm there are few choices on places to eat. But it is very quiet and safe feeling. The lobby and patio area to our room was very nice. However, the wood around the pool needs to be nailed down and the bathroom in our room needed some major work. It was acceptable for the one night. But I cannot express how great the staff was!

romantic, relaxing and value for money

Near to Uluwatu temple which is the best view of uluwatu. The staff of hotel is very friendly and helpful , makes us feel very comfortable for our trip. The location not so good , at lease need some transportation. And far from the airport and the airport transfer is very expensive. This is the only thing not so good.

Quiet place to stay”

The property is quiet, the room clean. But a little bit desapointed because we had to pay 100k more to be in a room with hot shower, whereas the price we initially paid wasn't that cheap but in correlation with the prices in this area. It's close to the beach (5/10 min with a scooter) the staff can arrange a scooter for rent. The breakfast was ok but not amazing. The venue needs a little bit of renovation, the coussins by the pool are well old ...

You pay for what you get”

What I like about the place: comfortable bed, nice surroundings and environment, good quiet ambience. I enjoyed the simple breakfasts too (I had the same omelette every day, but I can do that) What I love about the place: Wonderful staff - super friendly. What I didn't like about the place: The pool wasn't maintained - it was overgrown with algae; disappointing for me because I'd seen the pool in the pictures and intended to swim. The bathroom didn't come with hot water, and the water pressure was low, the wifi wasn't working, and there were cracks in the bathroom wall. Overall: I think the biggest bummers for me were the wifi and the lack of hot water. Other than that, I think it's a decent place to stay for a couple of nights. Note: Plan for your transportation out of Uluwatu in advance. I've been told that the local mafia controls the transport networking in the area, and no GoJeck or Grab Cars or event taxis are allowed to pick up passengers - which may be an issue.

A few nights at Puri Segara Village”

The quiet staff was very nice, the pool was lovely, the gardens were beautiful

Have to agree with other reviewers, there was a serious bathroom funk. Our room was very small but clean and comfortable but once you entered the bathroom it was another world. It was bare bones with a terrible odor they tried hard to cover with several deodorizers. I think they have a septic problem my boyfriend thinks it's related to the nearby kitchen plumbing - who knows! It was not a big deal for us, we just tried to avoid the bathroom as much as possible. It's a beautiful place, so I wish they would free all of the exotic birds in tiny cages. Its very sad and especially upsetting the large chickens in small cages. One morning we awoke to a dog barking and crying for more than an hour, then later saw his front paws literally sticking out of a too small cage. He was a filthy white dog who looked mistreated. As animal lovers we were happy to leave after 2 nights.

Need Maintenance ”

This hotel was probably nice 10 years ago. The photos were probably taken then. The pool is Green, no way we wanted to get in it, the decked seating area is rotten with loose boards and nails sticking out. Dangerous even wearing flip flops. 2 rotten sunloungers with rip cushions, again didn't want to use. Rooms are dark but just about passable. I have stayed in lots of places booked through agoda in my 6 weeks in Bali and this was the worst. Booked 4 nights and left after 1 as there are far better places around. No refund available due to properties terms and conditions despite help from agoda customer service. The only good thing about this place was the young lady at reception who was obviously embarrassed with the place she worked and did everything in her power to be helpful, including organising bikes so we could find another hotel and calling the hotel manager.

The staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. The owner however really left a bad taste in my mouth after breaking an agreement on our agreed upon payment method. I had to try to resolve this with him over the phone as his staff admitted they didn't want to have to talk or communicate with him. Unfortunate cause for the price everything else was a steal.

peaceful but dissapointing service”

peaceful, nice surroundings, comfortable.

overall we enjoyed our stay because of the hotel ambiance, and location, however the staff dishonesty was disappointing, as well as a strange funky smell in our room which seems to be an ongoing issue that is not being resolved. on our first night we checked in at 10.45pm and on our last day we checked out at 3pm and the staff insisted we pay an extra for a late check out time which seemed unfair, we agreed to pay this but it was insisted we pay in cash because they claimed the machine was faulty so we could not pay by credit card which was an inconvenience at this time, there was no receipt given for this transaction nor any form of documentation signed. to make things worse my husband gave to a member of staff to purchase cigarettes costing only with the promise of tip, but the member of staff decided to take all of the change after agreeing to this, then he seemed to pretended to not understand afterward. this was not a great deal of money but the attitude was very unprofessional and money grabbing. additionally souvenirs were taken from the room in a plastic bag which we discovered the day after, which the staff claimed was mistaken for rubbish, although after inquiring thankfully it was returned. we would like to add the breakfast was sufficient, although on the one occasion we ordered lunch there was little effort made, for example my husband ordered a macaroni vegetable soup, but received a small bowl of overcooked pasta macaroni with little to no vegetable content with obvious high levels of msg. with a little more effort and thought this could be a great place to stay, but on our next trip to bali for these reasons mentioned above we will choose alternative accommodations.

DO NOT STAY HERE”

This property should not be listed on agoda. All of the photos are not up to date and about 10 years old. The property has fallen into disrepair with black mould (biological hazard) in the rooms, a stagnant water swimming pool with no filter, broken decking, and no WiFi. We Paid by debit card on agoda prior to arriving and arrived at the property 2 hours early to check in time. We were shown to our room and were immediately shocked at the state of it. When we asked for our money back the owner of the property (who is not on site and was in Jakarta) refused a refund. Agoda also refused to refund us. DO NOT STAY HERE. It has good reviews but check the dates of them as they are all from many years in the past. Nobody stays here anymore as it has not been maintained and I can imagine in 5 years time it will have rotten to the ground. We were also the only guests here and since being in the uluwatu area, the property has been locked shut as nobody else has stayed here too. Very very bad.

Staff are AMAZING - but the hotel is not.”

Staff at this hotel are amazing, and the service we received was above and beyond! BUT.. the place looks nothing like the pictures online, it is so run down. The pool looks like a swap, and the decking is all coming up. The edges of the pool are black/green and looks so old. The rooms are a decent size, but, again, very run down. Paint coming off the walls, old facilities (bed, lights and fan etc) and our friends even had ants all over the pillows. Can imagine that in its day this place was beautiful, but do not believe the pictures online.
