"You need a motorcycle to get to the heart of Amed and you can't see the mountaintops or sunset to the northwest from Double One but we were happy to forgo those features because the hotel is so lovely and private with a small cluster of airy, high-ceilinged villas (#1 felt grand with beautiful, Balinese, ornately carved-wood bedsteads and a private columned terrace overlooking the pretty grounds and awesome infinite pool just above the black-pebbled beach) built into the hillside on the ocean's edge with winding walkways of colored-stone mosaics. There was some visible wear-and-tear in a few spots inside and out but the place is so enchanting and inexpensive you can't help but overlook the little flaws. The tiny floral offerings placed lovingly each morning in wonderful painted and carved wood boxes hanging from each villa and in various trees were gorgeous and imbued the whole place with a serenity and reverence that enchanted us. Thank you, Double One--we want to move in forever!"

"We stayed in Amed for three days. It is great place for snorkeling. It is quiet and not that touristy part of Bali and it is easily accessible from Gili Islands - best part of Bali we visited. Hotel was nice and traditionally equipped. Helpful staff, close to the black sand beach and great breakfast. Wifi available only in restaurant. We booked ocean side bungalows, but it is waste of money, standard room is OK. "

"I came to Amed to do my PADI Open Water course and booked to stay at the Bila hotel. Initially I wanted to do the course at one the big dive schools in the area as I had not realized that Bila also offers it. But after meeting the very friendly owner Oliver and realizing that he would be my private dive instructor as there were no other students, I chose to do the course there. He was only slightly more expensive, but I guess this is reflected in the quality and I have not regretted this choice for a second. He was very friendly, patient and professional and, as far as possible, tailored the dives to my wishes. The dive equipment was very new. The hotel itself is excellent, the rooms are located next to a small garden and have nice verandas. Rooms are very clean, showers only have cold water but this is not an issue in the warm weather. Wifi connection in the room was slow and unstable, but this is no exception on Bali. Staff is friendly and the restaurant serves very good food. The pizza's are definitely worth a try, every meal comes with a free fruit plate and they offer cheap refills of filtered water. There are also a few good restaurants just down the road, ask the hotel for recommendations. All in all I really enjoyed my stay there and I highly recommend both the No Fear diving school and hotel! "This place is a gem & should not be missed! There are many options in the Amed area but overall this is the best option for value and amenities. The individual bungalows are nestled in a lush, organic garden that includes a beautiful swimming pool, restaurant, bar & massage spa. The owners & staff are the best we've found in Bali. They can help coordinate anything you need including diving, snorkeling, transport, laundry, hiking, yoga, cooking classes, scooter rentals & more The towns of Amed, Jembeluk & Lipah are all accessible by foot but roads are winding with no sidewalks. Recommend renting a scooter to get around. Harmony staff are also available to take you to town or the beach. Some of the best snorkeling & diving we've done in Bali. The fast ferry-Free Bird-to Gillis is just around the corner from Harmony. They offer free pick up & drop off Anis & Nyoman made us feel like family, rooms are great & their food is amazing. We wouldn't stay any other place! "
